I see a few people suggesting “New Way Out”, which took me a while to get into myself as a long time fan bc I felt it to be even MORE generic than this one (but I loved They’re All Around Us INSTANTLY, the verses give me more throwback Slipknot than metalcore imo!!). But it is good. Just dropping that opinion in the ring. If you want an older Poppy metal classic, “BLOODMONEY” and “Concrete” are both fantastic picks from her 2020 album “I Disagree”. Those songs would also give you more of a scope on the diversity of her use of metal :))

A little over a year prior, Band-Maid was ending their final show of their October 2022 North American tour at the Chicago House of Blues. ""Endless Story" was the next to last song. It had been a grueling tour, their first time outside Japan in several years, Kanami was battling health issues, and the Maids were so proud to be playing sold out venues. They were worried that their fans might have forgotten them. When they started playing "Endless Story" Akane started singing along as she often does, even though she isn't miked for vocals, she sings for the pure joy of it, and she started tearing up, wiping her eyes whenever she could, crying tears of joy. She never missed a beat! Several fan cams have documented this endearing moment and "Endless Story" holds a special place in the hearts of Maidiacs.

Neon is so underrated. This song is an absolute hidden gem, especially unplugged. Thank you for reacting to it.

Up until just last month, I believe, Bloodywood was a completely independent band, funded solely by their Patreon supporters. Thankfully, there have been many willing to support them over the years, or we wouldn't have gotten the _Rakshak_ album, nor would they have been able to go on tour. I'm a proud supporter and have been for almost 6 years now! They are worth it!

My favorite part of the whole video is "Yay!" and mugging for the camera. Moa is living her best life.

I think what Poppy is doing with her Metalcore songs is demonstrating her complete mastery of the genre. She is employing ALL the Metalcore tropes. What critics overlook is that no one band has done that -- and certainly not on the same album.

The doc is definitely worth watching.

The videos are described as "Official Visualizers" -- but they are more than than that; there are subtle variations in the repeated scenes.

Funnily enough, the criticism of this song is that it is "just" standard Metalcore -- overlooking how good it is. The other singles from the album are Metalcore ("New Way Out" and "The Cost of Giving Up") except for "The Center's Falling Out" (Hardcore) and "Crystallized" (Synthpop!) The album "Negative Spaces" is a mixture of Metalcore, Nu Metal and Synthpop. Poppy has been doing the rounds of Metal festivals singing Synthpop songs!

The bird in the video is a Pied Crow, which is a small African raven.

They did Gary Moore proud with this cover! You were correct when you said a Celtic vibe as Gary was from Ireland. There is another fantastic version of this song by Tommy Johansson that is amazing if you would like to check it out. Tank the Tech (their tour manager) explained that this song is about their experience with the House of Blues concert venue in Chicago. There are 7 floors between the prep room and the garage with either 7 flights of stairs or one lift.. with an elevator operator. The operator was apparently a very chill guy who they liked. Kevin screaming "I just wanna get down!" came from him standing on the 7th floor waiting for ages for the lift...

I think in 10-20 years Poppy will be remembered as legendary level music. Cool reaction/vid. Also, friendly tip from one creator to another, your thumbnails are very hard to discern what's' going on in them. Monochromatic colors and busy background layer make it to where people can barely tell what any of it is unless fullscreen on a PC

This was my introduction to Nightwish also, over 20 years ago. My friend played it to me and I was hooked. Followed them since, more or less. I was crushed because they fired Tarja, but I still loved their new albums (not Anette live, I was once at their gig in 2008 I think). After that I remember I read from a Finnish tabloid that Nightwish had switched their singer once again, and I was so over them because of that. But then I heard Endless Forms of Beautiful, and I returned to them. I just love Tuomas's songwriting, still. It isn't the same as the old days, but there is always something to love, and who would like him writing the same songs over and over again? I'm sorry I only watch your Nightwish reactions, but I'm not currently interested in new bands or artists. I have selective taste also 😅 Although I found Sabaton through reaction channels a few years ago, and that was very nice rabbithole with its history lessons for me 😊

I was there. 17 and Tarja was who i wanted to be. I think what they said was 2 pirates. 2 Vikings and a Princess. That’s the soundtrack of the background from the recording. I hate the Tarja v Floor nonsense. Two great women singers. But the way they sing the song is the way Tuomas vibed it. In 05 he was still in the Tolkien Peter Pan stage and it’s a softer longing song. By 13 he’s older madder and more realistic and it’s an angrier grittier song. It’s just a choice. People should pick it and then listen to their version. . No need to make a fight where there isnt one. Listen to Tarja now tho. Voice has both stayed the same and changed.

This is the first time I have seen a Tarja version of one of their songs. She has a beautiful voice, but for me Fleur just about shades her because her voice has a grittier nuance to it during the heavier stages.

This was my first Nightwish song as well. I was in a bar where it was played and I was 18 years old. Blown away by Tarjas voice. A friend then told me that it is a cover and I should listen to their original music. So I went and bought the album Oceanborn. It was instant love! I am 42 years old now and still in love with them. I've heard a lot of Nightwish songs, but I have not heard this one before now. It is definitely fun and great to hear. I really liked that it showcased Emppu. It seems not to happen much lately, which is a shame because he is really good. I can see why this would make you a fan.

Actually this song is an anonymous Irish folk song. Legendary guitarist Gary Moore made the song popular in 80s. It is worth to check it out. Empu basically copies his solo. I was a teenager when i saw the video clip on tv and might have had tears in my eyes when I heard.

Tarja showed at least half of her wardrobe at that show and Marco had that crazy drive going on all through the concert. Breathtaking. Ofcourse this is quitar-legend Gary Moores original song and he played maybe Gibson, so the sound is different with Emppu, but still he poors out his soul playing this. All the album Ocean born is my first real dive into their world. I know it by heart. There are some specials like Swanheart, that followes me until I pass away. Thank you so much for this.
