You deserve so much credit for your heartfelt reaction to this wonderful performance again and I so glad you found it so worth doing. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching this video
Think you, it just felt incomplete with all the comments telling me I needed the subs. :) Maybe I'll do one more when I took a deeper dive into Band Maid. :)
Thanks for taking the time to react to this song again. This song, at this moment was very special to them and the fans. During a band meeting about 5 years prior to this concert, they discussed their goals and desires. Kanami, the lead guitarist and main composer expressed her desire to someday be able to perform at the Yokohama Arena and to play a song where everyone in the arena can join in the singing and Endless Story was born. Miku, the rhythm guitarist and lyricist for most of the band's songs wrote the lyrics to address the troubling trend of suicide rate increasing in Japan, encouraging those struggling with phrases like "this struggle is the mark of life" and "stay with me. Life is beautiful" but the very last verse in this performance was added in to thank the fans for attending the concert. Although this song was performed many times previous to this concert, in Kanami's mind the song was finally completed when she heard an arena full of fans singing the song. Most Band-Maid concerts are about 2 hours with 20 to 23 songs. This concert was 3 hour 45 minute from start to finish and they do put in breaks with MCs but they do a number of things to help give each other breaks. The band usually plays one instrumental and one song with Miku, the rhythm guitarist as the lead vocal and Kanami the lead guitarist doing backup vocals to give Saiki the lead singer a break. On this night they played two instrumentals. The drummer, bassist and rhythm got a nice long break with Saiki and Kanami performing two acoustic songs. Kanami got her break with the others as Saiki performed solo with her singing and playing the piano for one song. The last break for all members came in the form of watching live video footage from their very early days playing on the big screen, much to the surprise of the band members. It was really entertaining to see them being very embarrassed watching their early years.
Thank you for all the background info for that song and that performance, I love that they reached their goal and haven't strayed from the path in those 5 years between the band meeting and the 10 year anniversary show. Also very cool to hear about how they managed the breaks. :D P.S.: Yes, I also got that positivity vibe from that song and since I struggle with my mental health as well and lost friends to suicide, one recently in December 24, lyrics like that always hit hard, in a good and in a bad way.
A little over a year prior, Band-Maid was ending their final show of their October 2022 North American tour at the Chicago House of Blues. ""Endless Story" was the next to last song. It had been a grueling tour, their first time outside Japan in several years, Kanami was battling health issues, and the Maids were so proud to be playing sold out venues. They were worried that their fans might have forgotten them. When they started playing "Endless Story" Akane started singing along as she often does, even though she isn't miked for vocals, she sings for the pure joy of it, and she started tearing up, wiping her eyes whenever she could, crying tears of joy. She never missed a beat! Several fan cams have documented this endearing moment and "Endless Story" holds a special place in the hearts of Maidiacs.
I don't want to know how many shivers ran down Kanami's spine at that moment, since she wrote this song for exactly this setting. Yes, they have played it before and many tears were shed, both on stage and certainly in the audience. But this one here? At their 10th anniversary, in front of their biggest audience to date? This was certainly a completely different story, which was also noticeable from each of the ladies. ❤🔥 They are not the kind of band that comes around the corner every day. I already saw the first video very early on and already anticipated certain comments. 🙈I think it was great and noteworthy that you did this re-take with the lyrics! Thanks for that and after your reaction at the end I think I understand why we are so attached to these ladies. Greetings from Germany. 👋🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Probably ALL of them. :D It's really something special to hear a song unfold like this, especially when it only existed in your head before that. It really just felt incomplete after all the comments, I'm glad I did it right away, couldn't sleep well, knowing I missed something. Thank you so much for the comment.
I was 65 years old and I was there.I was excited, I laughed, I was moved, I cried, and I was exhausted. Their usual live shows in Japan usually last over two hours and feature over 20 songs. There are instrumental songs, song sung by MIKU, special time by MIKU, and three MC sessions, but no breaks.
Oh I envy you. :D So next goal --> I want to see them playing their 15 year anniversary show in Japan. Also thanks for elaborating on their breaks in the show. :)
Thanks for coming back to this. I generally don’t recommend this until someone is a proper fan, and knows a little bit about their history and struggles, which adds so much to the song’s meaning and impact. Right after this video released, a lot of reactors put reactions out all at once, and the Band-Maid fans who watch all of them were dying, like, they couldn’t take crying so much.
Since it was recommended so much to watch it with subs, it just felt incomplete. I hope I still got the message, even if it's just the second song I've heard. :) I can imagine, what wonderful thing.
Nice that you reacted again with the captions… the lyrics, the speaking from the heart, the magical moment… just so good! The fans get involved a lot at all their shows in this song, and others. They even got people singing along to this at Lollapalooza… a festival crowd of mostly people who probably never heard them before, let alone knew the song!
What a nice thing to do! Thank you for sacrificing more of your time for this. This song and this show meant so much to the Maids that they wrote that extra final verse when the house lights went on…just for this crowd. It’s impossible to know without understanding the band’s entire backstory and tribulations just how emotional this performance was. For them and their fans ❤
I'm very thankful that so many people said that to me in my last reaction, really added another layer to the song. So thanks to all the Maidiacs for being persistent. :D
This is one of the most real and heartwarming reactions I've seen from RUclips. So happy that you found this band and hope you continue your journey with Bandmaid. Consider me subscribed. Thanks again.
The rock scene in Japan is very intense, but they are still much less commercial than the pop and idol scenes. Their overseas fan base is stronger, it's fanatical than domestic, tours in small venues... all this keeps the band closer to the beginnings when they couldn't get 50 people in the audience, they can't afford a "take the money and run" approach, they know they're not a stadium band attraction, nor western-type discography hits, their destiny is "respect old fans and try to attract new ones", there is no "explosion". It's actually a shame that a lot of bands like this stay under the radar...
I think a lot of great bands fly under the radar, but I think Band-Maid found a place and can enjoy their growing fanbase worldwide, I hope the will be more and bigger international tours in the future, I want to see them live. :D
They had a short break when they all sat down in front of the screen to watch a history of their band. They laughed and giggled and once again we the viewers became a part of their story. Miku had also written a letter to her band mates and friends as well as the audience expressing her feelings and love and read it out. Now I am an old cynical fan who loved bands like Black Sabbath back in the day. But Band Maid are the only band that still make me emotional each and every time. Yes watching the stream in England at home. I was a wreck watching this last song. A special band in more ways than one.
Oh, that's beautiful and a perfect occasion for a break in the set, but probably also very emotional, to see 10 years in video, with all the fans that were there. No I wanna see the whole show as well, haha.
It's the love of what they do and the fans that carried them through the 3+ hour show and not just the fans that saw the show. Since their US tour recently, this song has become a monumental finale to their shows particularly this 10th Anniversary tour and show. Thanks for doing this as it will mean so much to the fans.
I was there, probably the fastest 3.5 hours of my life. The concert just flew by. They started off with 12 fast songs before doing 4 slow song to calm things down. Then there were 2 acoustic songs with just Kanami and Saiki then one with Saiki by herself. They also spent time just talking to eveyone, showing off their new outfits. Miku also read a letter she had written to the other members. So I would guess they probably played about 3 hours in total.
Yep 33 songs in over three & a half hours, It is so noticeable, that at the end when they all got down off the little podiums and walked toward Akane on the kit, they had no energy left. No bounce in their step. Akane on the other hand had to keep it going until the last beat of the sticks. As a 67yo old rocker, I am so proud of these women. They have achieved so much.
More to Saiki's emotions here than meets the eye...not just their biggest concert celebrating 10 years: She chose this night, as a rookie piano player, to do her first performance...solo in front of this, I believe, 8000 strong crowd!! Balls of steel...she played and sang a slow simple emotional arrangement of 'Choose Me' on grand piano. The arena was captivated and at the end, a moment of silence where you could hear a gnat fart, before the applause. She must have been riding high for the rest of the show. I cherish the blu-ray...spectacular. They have so many great songs, they did some Spin Off Tour shows...more intimate crowd and live streamed. Brilliant show and you should enjoy the 'Honkai' Spin Off video thats around...let's just say...MISA MISA MISA-Tastic!!! 👌🥳🔥💪🤘🤘🤘
Miku, the founder of the band and rhythm guitarist and vocal harmonies, wrote this gorgeous song. Considering they are THE best Hard Rock band on Earth, they are incredibly egoless - I've been attending gigs since the mid 70's and can't recall any other band being so grateful to their fans and willing to tell them how much they are appreciated. This was the 33rd song of their 3.5 hour set.
Having the chant in the backing track is really important. There's a very famous BabyMetal performance where they drop completely out and let the audience chant, and they almost immediately drag the beat. The Maids keep everybody in time. Thanks for the (additional) reaction!
To be fair, they take a lot of breaks in a show that long to interact with the audience in a variety of ways, but they worked their butts off on this show. MIku, the clever pigeon she is, is very good at writing song lyrics to the fans disguised as love songs anyone can enjoy, but it melts the fans hearts.
Even if you do, there's so much stamina needed for that. :D When I played a 1,5h show, I was 25 and in really good shape, couldn't imagine doing that ever again..., and they just pull a 3:45h show. haha it's crazy. I also heard it was to address the rising suicide rates in Japan, so many meanings in one song. :) Really clever!
I think a lot of people thought otherwise. xD And to be honest, after doing it, I'm very happy I did it. The lyrics, as well as, some of the context presented to me in the comments added so much to the song that it really hit different the second time. :)
Band Maid is on another level when it comes to appreciate their fans. Never saw a band change their lyric in the last verse just to tell their fans how much they are appreciated. Most bands just do their hits then goes back stage to do whatever they do back stage.
@@kaNjiXIII Just for private viewing, no public reaction needed. Really appreciate your efforts, thank you. Or, as Kanami would say, “noted with appreciation.”
Whatever the song is -- maybe a love song between two people -- it is being sung here as a love song to the fans. Saiki was brilliant during this concert. Originally very shy and reserved, Saiki has blossomed in confidence as the front person, and the Yokohama Arena concert was in many ways her concert -- though of course all members had their star moments, and Saiki could not do it on her own. But she shone there, and it was great to see how far she has come.
Thank you so much for your reaction/review. You will come to your own conclusions as far as BAND-MAID and rightfully so. For me, BAND-MAID is made up of five very talented ladies who care for each other, care for the music and have not let their rising claim to fame get in the way of their sincere humility. Thanks again, sir.
I'm joining the chorus here in saying thanks for your attention to the lyrics. You don't need to with every song if you find it difficult to read and watch them at the same time. I know I do. In general, as I always have, I listen to the singing as a part of the melody. (apologies to all the singers, try not to hate me)
I'm glad you came back to watch it with the subtitles. I had suggested after watching a bunch more, so you'll get even more appreciation. But, you are a Maidiac...you get it. Onion Ninjas were sneaking up on every Maidiac at the end of this one. Standing there in Yokohama Arena with thousands of other Maidiacs was an amazing feeling. Replaying the great Endless Story to get the lyrics.. to hear what Saiki's heart is feeling for her fans... Excellent decision, Kaniji! 💞

They do work out and according to Miku, Saiki has six pack abs most body builders would be jealous of!
I think with singers and drummers, that makes a lot of sense, since they are actively using their abs a lot, :D
However much Band-Maid gets in some good cardio workouts, I'm afraid even Sai-chan pales in comparison to Midori from Lovebites. That lady is RIPPED!
@@atlasisshrugging Have you seen Saiki's abs to compare them?
