      I just learned new thing about leave in conditioner. I never used leave in conditioners before but i have been colouring my hair lately so i gave it a try. I already tried 2 leave in conditioners and I have noticed that my ends become more dry and brittle so I did some research on it. Apparently hydrolyzed protein in leave in conditioner is not good for your hair which they recommended not to use leave in conditioner too often. What are your thoughts on this? Could you possibly make a video talking about leave in conditioner? Much love❤

    I followed your advice and started using Everpure bonding shampoo and conditioner and treatment and OGX oil and my hair has been transformed. It used to be so puffy and like straw. I have a ton of hair and I used to lose a handful a day. Now I hardly lose any hair and my hair is much more manageable. Years of spending so much money on salon products! So happy to have better hair now tho! Thanks!

      @hexaitine 14 дней назад +5

      @@logiclanguagelearningFrench The one Abbey mentions routinely is the coconut miracle oil, she uses it to oil her hair before a wash. And she mentions that you can use the lighter weight OGX coconut oil instead if the miracle one is just too heavy for your hair. In her hair oiling video, she mentions that other oils like argan and jojoba don't have all the benefits she's looking for that coconut does. I do think argan oil can be be helpful but more as a finisher than as a treatment.

      isn't that where not washing your everyday also came from? people like to think the secret to long healthy hair is not washing it but we have to remember people back in the day had no choice because they didn't have easy access to running water, and they used the products that were available back then. I'm sure they'd have been washing more often and using different products if they had the choice.

    I would really appreciate if you would scientifically explore the "lifespan of hair". I learned from a very good teacher in a hairdressing school that everyone's hair has a lifespan. The age at which hair falls and begins to grow anew. How not all people can grow their hair down to their knees. Some people cyle hair much quicker and it's predetermined at birth. Sorry for the crude comparison, but think of it like how certain breeds of dogs like maltese of tshitz-shou have fur that just keeps growing, vs a lab whose set fur length is short and repeatly falls and grows. I've never seen this meaningfully explained for humans. Thanks in advance!

    Yes, I want a part 4, 5. 6. 7.... You are the ONLY beauty RUclipsr I trust. I have damaged hair from years of bleaching and not cutting my hair so naturally it was breaking. Since I discovered your YT channel, I started having my hairstylist trim my ends every 5 - 6 weeks and started using the products you recommend Pureology, Amika, ect. I learned about porosity which I never knew before your channel. My hair is thicker now and looks better. So yes more installments on hair knowledge.

    I would love a video on internal causes of hair loss, even though 90% of it would say "see your doctor".The medics can help find a cause, but very few can offer good products to use during and after the hair loss to let us make the best of what hair we have left.
    In the last 2 years I dealt with two forms of shedding hair (plus some damage):
    1. Annual hair shedding each autumn. This has been going on for at least 15 years. I lose enough to notice it myself, but nobody else knows. I figure it's due to summer heat stress (I hate hot weather).
    2. Stress due to cancer. I'm lucky that my treatments don't directly cause hair loss, but the stress on my body have made my annual sheds MUCH heavier. At one point, I was down to about 25% my original hair density. The hair is growing back now, thankfully, but I fear another massive shedding.
    I know that if I shed again, there's not a lot I can do to prevent or stop it. I would like to see how to best care for what hair I keep, and how to maintain it until it grows out again.

    • @lizcademy4809
      @lizcademy4809 13 дней назад +1

      @@kite6864 Mine is definitely a reaction to heat.
      Shedding usually happens about 3 months after the initial stress incident. I shed 3 months after the summer heat arrives.
      Also, the shedding got started when I moved up North (Boston, then Minneapolis) and lived in a house without air conditioning. It wasn't *that* hot in the summer, mostly, but 3 months after the first heat wave ...
      I got air conditioning last spring, and hope it will delay / lessen / eliminate my annual shedding. So far, so good.

    This is really great! A few months ago I started following a lot of your haircare suggestions. I was using the OGX coconut oil overnight before washing, and L’Oreal EverPure bond repair and K18. I was washing maybe once every 4-5 days, and using the L’Oreal Leave-In to try to make my hair look decent on non-wash days. I have 3B curly hair that is RIDICULOUSLY fragile. It breaks so, so easily. I think these tips were really helping because my hair gained 1-2 inches of length over those months. Sadly, I got kind of lazy and lost all of that length. It was further proof that breakage is the reason my hair “won’t grow.” I’m starting my diligent routine again and we’ll see if I can keep it up for a year and gain density too!!!! I’m hopeful, but it’s very hard. Diet (protein, I guess?) also plays a role for me. Thanks for your great content, as always!

    i've felt so educated by your videos, thank you abbey! i bleached my hair for +10years to a white level, and when i gave it a rest for the second time in my life my hair started falling out from the root. i know because i see the little bubble that's the root 😢 i went to the doc, my analysis are ok, i now take minoxidil because the docs say the hair loss is probably only liked to my anxiety but still no improvement and it's been like... 8 months. i lost so much density! i'm scared! and well, i've been anxious and medicated for a lot of years. all of this to say: i'd love to see a video on actual hair loss from the root! because of you i booked a dermatologist that's also a specialist in trichology so wish me luck

    I lost loads of my hair after septic shock and emergency surgery resulting in me being critical in hospital for weeks. My hair was also matted because of not moving for a long time. I rubbed a growth serum (Grow Gorgeous) into my hair every night for about 6 months. Eventually it grew back just as thick, but I'm wondering whether that was because of the serum or the rubbing motion stimulating my follicles 🤔 no idea but at least it grew back

    I will say before you invest money in products, visit your doctor an request him to do a CBC, because you are looking too much hair. You might be deficient in Iron or have any other problem internally. 2nd what is happening in your life, are you stressed?, are you in any medication? So beware of life situations that can cause the hair loss.

I never would have known without a blood test! Editing to add, I recognize more people are deficient in vit d than not, but clearly not everyone is. I lost a lot of hair and got really stressed about it until I learned the cause.

    It has been hard figuring out my routine with my fine, medium, wavy hair. Sulfates can be good for my scalp when I need it, but a bit too much for my hair to cause a little frizz or make questionably too soft. What is currently working for me is OGX (purple) shampoo with (white) conditioner, and good beard oil on my ends. It is a little below my ears, so I don't think my hair is quite long enough to try leave-in.

    • @carak4356

      I competed/trained on USA swimming club for years. 1) we all wear caps. 2) you shower prior to entering any pool, so your hair is wet per pool rules; then the cap goes on. 3) some of us put a little conditioner on hair ends under the cap. Not too much or the cap will slip off. 4) I washed AM and PM but none of us ever dry or style… training twice a day means you’re basically going to class with wet hair and always air drying because the training schedule is too demanding to allow time for styling. My hair was actually very healthy, long, natural blonde. But now that I do highlights and toning, and no longer swim, my hair has more split ends. 😂

      I’m back to using silicones (just like I did when I was relaxed & my hair was fine), and my hair is doing much better!!! Much less breakage & single strand knots, and I just wash it well to remove them - no big deal at all! I do stay away from sulfates, just because my hair is bleached & really fine, but I do use clarifying shampoos without them, you get it all clean. It’s growing out just the way I want (although I’m not looking for super long hair at all). And I added in hair oiling before shampoo- again, used to do hot oil treatments with my relaxers. Those worked well then, so why would it be different now that I’m natural?? I’m doing what’s best for my hair now, not what the “curly hair experts” say, unless they are looking at my own hair when they say it 😊

    My low porosity hair seems to be finicky about silicones. Often, products with silicones (especially hair oils with dimethicone, etc) actually dry my hair out and make it feel stiff and brittle. I don't know enough about hair science to articulate this in a way that gets me a logical answer in terms of what is happening, and I'm certain others must experience similar. If you could help explain what the deal is, that would be life changing for me (and others, I'm sure).
    You touched on "hydration" here, but I just don't understand the concept of trapping water in the hair strand if water causes hygral fatigue. I've been able to avoid massive amounts of damage to my hair by actually using a hair dryer because otherwise it stays wet so long that it becomes damaged and I used to experience split ends that actually looked like someone shredded my strands, and I never experience this anymore after just drying my hair.
