You really packed that thing well. I am really sorry I didn't bring a container from Wales to Cyprus. I gave everything away except 8 suitcases full of clothes and things such as a vacuum cleaner and steam mop and photographs. Never mind I blessed friends and family with some nice things
Yes, it is always hard to decide in the moment what the best option is. We sold and/or donated over 80% of what we owned and only kept what would fit in our RV or this POD. Massive downsizing.
Considering what all those tools and now with the sky high cost of lumber, and the cost to replace the furniture I think you really made a wise choice! The tools will be well used and needed on your new homestead.
I showed and referenced your video of the day your Pods arrived and mentioned how you packed the wood, to a friend of ours who wanted to moved their shed. They had sold their home and the new owners wanted their shed removed, also. They were using 3 PODS. Happily, they were excited to be able to pack their 8'x8' shed.
You folks brought the meaning of Tetris to another level! I am amazed, especially because I am incredibly bad at estimating space ( fortunately my husband has that gift). Great work!!!!
I am actually quite good at estimating space, size, and distance so it came in quite useful for us. We only left behind one item that we just couldn't make fit and that was far less than what we anticipated when we went with the small size.
My husband and I looked into using pods when we moved from Oregon, but they would not deliver to our location in Montana. You were lucky that they delivered to Tennessee. Keep up the good work!
It must feel so good to have your belongings there with you now...especially your tools! It must be starting to feel like your own place now. I am enjoying the videos.
Yes, having the tools is great because we have needed them for a few projects but didn't want to spend the money to get another one knowing our stuff would be arriving soon.
When my family and I moved to Tennessee from California 18 years ago, we used ABF. We had to pick up our belongings in Nashville 1.5 hours away. Half of our furniture was broken when we received it. If I were to do it again, I would sell everything extra that I couldn't take with me. I am so glad that you all had a great experience with PODs. I wish they were available when we moved, I might have a different experience
WOW, sorry you had such a rough experience. I had a similar on the ONLY time I used a moving company. We sold about 80% of our belongings and took a chance on this working out for what we wanted to keep.
Yes, it was pretty crazy seeing it all come out because I remember putting it in there thinking there is no way that this is all going to fit but it did!
You really had a lot packed in there and you were right about the tools not bringing much at sale...to replace all those would be an arm and a leg. So happy the experience was good and that everything was in good shape when unpacked. I am really anxious to see the renovation start. Have a Blessed day.
Glad you had a good experience with the pods, sounds like you did okay. You were also very organized, that along can be hard for some. All in all, I'm very impressed!
Yes, I think the fact that we took our time prepping our belongings and organizing them made it much more efficient. It allowed us to use a much smaller unit which saved in cost too.
Nice to see you had a good experience with the PODS. Wasn't an option when I moved. So I bought a enclosed trailer, filled it up and stored it till we needed to retrieve it. Then was able to sell the trailer and even made a few bucks on the trailer.
Wow that was a lot of stuff. Looks like all you’ll need to get later is side tables, dining table and bed and various appliances. Good job 👍..Have a great weekend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕👩🏻🌾
Yes, those were all items we sold because either we didn't really like them that much or someone offered us more than we purchased/built them for. Thank you!
So blessed to see your 'things' are there with you. Storage saves money when your personal items are more costly than you plan to re buy.Buying good, sturdy things pays off.
You guys are packing Ninjas. Holy crappola you had a lot in there. I'm so glad it all arrived in great condition. The tools you have will come in handy in spades. Congratulations 🎉👏. You are definitely home now!
what a ingenious way to pack lm sure many people will benefit from your creative use of space in your pod.lm so excited to follow your story on the homestead ❤️
With Nate's hair and beard he reminds me of Bob Ross the art instructor on the tv show The Joy of Painting. I am so happy for you both that you found your dream property.
Brilliant idea to put wood along walls and floors. Amazing at what you were able to pack into the pod and also the condition of everything after 21 months!
💜 I actually enjoyed this. I think this was a super wise choice. If you were to go online and figure out how much all the things you kept would cost to purchase now with all the crazy inflation going on, I still think you saved. Not to mention the cost of food today and that taking a greater chunk of change out of your monthly budget therefore having less money to repurchase the stuff n things you packed.
Thank you. I think that is the case too. Looking at the loss between what you originally paid and sold items for then having to purchase again is significant for tools and furniture.
You did such a great job packing the Pod! Ingenious way to bring the wood along and very smart of you to do so. I moved from Michigan to Texas in 1981 and brought all my furniture and belongings. We hired a moving van company and I think the cost was $750 paid by my prospective employer. We rented a house in Arlington for the first year while we looked for somewhere to buy. It worked well.
I used a mover when I went from MN to OR...it cost over 5k and so many items were broken or lost...I swore I'd never do that again. Sorry you had the same experience.
Yes, this was so helpful. Have been curious about how pods work. Seems like a good storage/moving company. As far as cost, it is all dependent on how long and how far you go from one place to another. Thank you for sharing your experience with this company. I believe it was your packing of the pod that was the first video I have seen on your channel. So it is good to see the before and after.
Too funny. The packing of our PODS video was one of our first and I cannot believe it took us 21 months to unpack it. All in all a good experience though.
Amazing and I absolutely would have done the same thing. Good call on that. So excited to see you use the tools and watch you build your new home space and homestead! Blessings
Thank you. It is so nice having our tools because there have been several projects that were much harder than they should have been because we didn't want to purchase more knowing our stuff would be here soon.
Genius and thrifty use of the Pod cool and impressed. I was fortunate when we moved twice, my Dad owned a trucking company, so other than fuel probably at that time $200.00 total cost ( this was in 1971 & 1978). Be Blessed. 😊🇺🇲
You certainly packed well, the amount of expensive items such as tools wood etc. and things that would be difficult and expensive to replace and the prolonged storage time makes it worth it. I’m glad that you shared this, thank you. And to the person or persons leaving rude comments all i can say is “hmmmm, really?”
Yes, the items that we chose to keep and pack were higher value and I think perhaps harder to replace for anywhere nearly as cheap as what we would have sold them for. Thanks!
Wow! Thanks for the tips. Didn't think to use tie down straps. Moving out of good old California to Indiana. I am having them bring a 16' pod. Not taking any appliances. Mostly boxes. Great video.
We needed two PODS for moving our household from NJ to MI. At our MI site, we bought a shipping container and moved most everythng from the two pods into that. Our land was totally undeveloped and we don't have the house built yet, most of our possessions are still in the container.
That was really smart and likely the cost of the trailer has now been less than how much it would have cost to continue to pay storage this whole time.
@@TheKraemerLife Plus the storage container is a durable asset. Our future plans include incorporating it as our farmstand, with a portion as walk in cooler.
Wow!! Creative packing and unpacking...good practice for the future! Humidity is usually an enemy in our area...but the good condition of the books in that home library gives hope that your furniture will be well preserved...and those power tools are going to keep Nate in good condition!? ha My thoughts for today...Mr. Wayne
Wow! I would have never guessed that you could put that much stuff in one of those pod thingys. Thanks for sharing all of that. Now I am smarter than I was before ! lol
When we moved from UK to Canada we had to decide ship or donate or sell off. It was easy in some respects- a lot of stuff we were not allowed to bring such as anything that had touched soil- no garden tools, lawnmowers, camping equipment outdoor grills etc. That broke my heart, as I am a keen gardener. No point in taking any electrical tools/ tv's or appliances- the power difference is not just about the shape of the plugs and sockets. We shipped our new leather sofas as like you, we figured age/cost to replace etc was a no brainer and like you they didn't fit! To think that someday you will build a home that your furniture will fit into is awesome. This was a great video for anyone thinking about moving. We had a tiny little container in the end and we brought everything that we could that we thought was important, but at the end of the day its all "stuff" and we all need a reminder every now and then about what is truly important, not just for comfort but our mental health. keep up the great work! You are very inspiring!
When we were deciding what to keep vs. sell/donate I kept thinking of the "does it spark joy" comment and started to post items for sale...the more we sold the easier it started to get. We donated so much and would have donated more if COVID hadn't closed many places from accepting items. In the end, it was freeing to downsize so significantly.
that's awesome amount of stuff. and its good that you didnt find damaged items or bug infested things. im thinking that will be a great start to your homestead!!! and the wood!!! well done and lucky thinking in advance
Impressive packing! We had a flood through our town and all the timber supply companies are still not open but I do have a couple of old pallets and now I'm going to try to make a trellis for a passionfruit vine. Looking forward to Tuesday Treasure Hunt!
That is too bad but glad you are thinking of ways to build what you need with what you have. Treasure Tuesday will be a little different tomorrow, excited to hear everyone's thoughts.
Omg…. The PETA ad before your video could not have chosen a worse audience…. Lol. I am so happy you both are settling into your new home. I love following along with your adventure😁 Kelly🇨🇦
Yippee!!! You really should try to get your furniture in your house. It could mildew on the porch, Most furniture makers make the chairs and sofa backs to come off. You could call the store or the company to ask. 🙏🏻❤️👍🏻😃
Loved this video! I had no idea what the inside of the PODS looked like - that was such a smart idea to bring all your lumber with you and to put it in the POD in that manner! I'm so glad you had a good experience and that everything, especially your furniture, arrived in the same condition you packed it away in. As a fellow artist, I'd love to see some of your paintings, Katie! Currently I am doing floral cards and 'pet portraits' in an effort to raise some money to help me pay for our dog's upcoming TPLO surgery. He has, essentially, torn the human equivalent of his ACL. Worst part is, this is his second one. He tore the first cruciate ligament and had surgery in June of last year. Unfortunately, it didn't heal properly and he developed what is called a "pivot shift" in that first leg. So, when they go in to repair the second knee's ligament the will also "fix" the first leg. Apparently it is quick and easy and though it is more staples and another incision to have to worry about, it will be immediately fixed. As fellow dog lovers, I am sure you understand why I'm doing this for him. Many folks have said "why are you spending $4,000 on a 10yo dog!?" My reply... "because he's a member of this family and we love him. I would do the same for my daughter if she needed surgery to be comfortable and pain free!" Anyways, my point is that I'm enjoying painting (watercolors for these cards) and have been very fortunate that quite a few people have either ordered a pet portrait or a set of cards. It's fun to be able to ask what color scheme, or favourite flowers people have and create something that they'll be happy to give to others (eg, floral cards), or have for themselves. I'm doing them on 4x6" watercolor paper and mounting them on 5x7" cards. Easy to frame that way. As for picking the size, it was after selling several that people let me know that this was their favorite sizes so I've just stuck with it. The icon next to my name... forget what it's called... is a photo of a painting I did (rhododendrons) for my mom many years ago in oils. It's huge - 36"x48". I know that I'll ever do one that big again, haha. Partly because it was a pain to set up and work on and partly because I've since had a spine/spinal cord injury and I know without a doubt that I would NOT be able to manhandle a canvas that size these days! (Nor would I want to, haha!) I hope, in time, you will share some of your artwork with us, Katie! I always love to see other folk's art work! All the best to you (and everyone who reads this) and your loved ones. Heather🇨🇦
My last dog, Ellie Mae had a hip replacement at 10 yrs old...it gave her 5 more high quality years so it was worth it to me. I think that you know what is best for your pet and others will never fully understand. I enjoy painting but I wouldn't consider myself a painter. I enjoy painting flowers and landscapes...trees...nature. When we get the house set up perhaps I will have some time to paint something for the walls :)
Loved the video and info.....I tried to scan though the comments.....so, once everything was unpacked, did you look at anything and say....why did we save that ??? LOL
I'm glad your experience with Pods was so positive! That's great to hear....I do have a little question completely off subject...Nate, are you going to keep the "new look" that you have?
I think this would of been really helpful to those thinking of moving and the pods are certainly worth the money if you compared it to a moving van. My friend has used pods and found it very affordable on a budget and only moving 70 km. When you pack things i think you would do it with more care as opposed to strangers packing stuff they have no attachment too. Happy to see your belongings home again after 21 months.
Yes, I agree if we had done a comparison it would add even more information...I have only had one experience with a moving company...was back in 2002 and was horrible.
@@TheKraemerLife Lucky for us our experience was great, only one mishap a missing mop, pail and broom, we also transported a car, boat, trailer and trike along with a household of furnishing for 5 people, 10's of thousands of dollars but a gov't move and this was in 1985, 2300 km (1439 miles). We also transported our budgie Rocky, he got to travel with the pilot in the cockpit....lol

I would do the same for my daughter if she needed surgery to be comfortable and pain free!"
Anyways, my point is that I'm enjoying painting (watercolors for these cards) and have been very fortunate that quite a few people have either ordered a pet portrait or a set of cards.
(Nor would I want to, haha!)
I hope, in time, you will share some of your artwork with us, Katie! I always love to see other folk's art work!
All the best to you (and everyone who reads this) and your loved ones.

When we get the house set up perhaps I will have some time to paint something for the walls :)
....and I was there when you packed it viewing..gosh 21 months ago time flys..
Crazy that it has been 21 months...we have done so much but it still is hard to believe that we started this journey almost two years ago.
Loved the video and info.....I tried to scan though the comments.....so, once everything was unpacked, did you look at anything and say....why did we save that ??? LOL
No, I think overall we were happy with our decisions on what we kept and what we sold...I may not need all my fancy work clothes anymore though ;)
Great informative review, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm glad your experience with Pods was so positive! That's great to hear....I do have a little question completely off subject...Nate, are you going to keep the "new look" that you have?
Yes of course!
Wow its amzing what you packed in the pod.I would say you could not replace all those tools and lumber for 5k.Smart people you are.love watching your videos.God Bless
Thank you so much!

Love the curly hair!
The shaggy beard could use a good neat trim.
Just sayin
Yes, it really needs some manscaping ;)
Very interesting. Not sure we have similar services in Canada 🤔
I imagine you have something similar(ish) possibly, lol
You guys are very good packing that thing. You could be pros at tjst
hey katie. you got your creek and woods so watch arms family homestead and follow their activity of looking for mushrooms. You may find some on your property
Thanks for the tip, we have seen quite a few mushrooms around the property already but sure there are more.
It looks like you did good!
Your stuff is your stuff and replacing it /might/ be less BUT the time and trouble you can’t put a price on.
Thank you.
You two are great packers for just 168 square feet.
Yes, it was shocking to us how much we were able to get packed in there.
great packing job!!
Thank you!
Sounds reasonable the route you went
Yes, thank you!
Impressive as to how much you packed into the pod.
Yes, thank you.
Perhaps all the people in the audience donot have same needs or aspirations however it is useful information for many.So courtesy and patience should be practiced
Yes, a little off topic but we like to share things that others can benefit from when we can.
Wow you all can pack...you could not replace all your stuff now because of prices. It saved you a bundle plus you don't need to go buy it all over again. Great choice.
Yes, we did pretty good ;) Prices have skyrocketed so I think it was a good choice in the end. Thanks
Love your channel and you guys adventure! That being said man do something with that hair !!
Thanks. Whose hair, Nate? He is...he is growing it out and it is in that awkward stage where it is too long to look good and too short to pull back.
If you are interested, Doug from DIYfferent just built a rack for his clamps that look like your clamps.
Good to know, thank you for sharing.
Omg, how creative
Thanks
Glad you had a good experience with PODS. Our experience was quite different from yours.
Sorry to hear that. I've used them the last three moves and each time had a positive experience.
Great video!
Thanks for the visit
