I wished you would’ve gone into more details about the pods. The size, how many pods you required, how big was your house, what is considered high season and low season, what was the total you paid, etc
I figured she wouldn't say anything about that. It took me around an hour on the phone to get an actual quote. They have 2 size options, an 8 foot and a 16, the 8 foot going long distance as they charge by miles not weight is around 3500, while the 16 is a little over 4000. For a family that can afford it, it's the way to go. However for me a single young man I used roadrunner and a crate I made for $900, which I don't recommend, I'm moving back in with my parents soon and I plan to use uhaul, which is 1200 and good for small moves.
Don't come to east coast it sucks especially New York I have been here about 7 years am moving to Indiana now. Traffic got horrible even more after covid as maximum people bought vehicles instead of using mass transit. But it totally depends on one's taste and preference.
We moved from Minneapolis to Las Cruces, NM, several years ago and used PODS for pre-move storage and the actual move, with I think it was two full 16-feet containers. We believe that the price was well worth the great service. Always on schedule and must have been very careful handling. Only two glasses were broken - likely our fault in packaging. We are so totally satisfied that we unhesitatingly recommend PODS. Even for valuable items such as we had. Happy Trails!

You did the packing, correct? just kidding...because we are the ones to pack our boxes and stack them in the container and upon reaching to the destination we are the one to have them unload! well, thanks for your good experience with PODS.
Moving soon from TN to NY and using PODS...thank you so much for this informative video. I was really nervous about heat and packing and this really put my mind at ease :)
This seems like a really good alternative and can allow someone to take their time loading their items. I feel like their largest pod just isn't large enough for most families so you'd have to get a couple of them.
I priced out 2 pods, from Maryland to florida, cost was $8,000 I went with united van lines, cost was $8128, and they sent 4 strong guys to load and u nload, and wrap my furniture in cloth. Bonus they moved 2 meds i could not have done.
Nice and clear review. Thanks. I will be moving cross country for the first time and am comparing various moving companies moving containers, pricing and security of our belongings packed in the container. We moved from Kansas to NJ years ago, and we are going to move from NJ to TX soon. I am still wondering should we use PODS or U-Pack. Did you compare the costs when you decided to use PODS?
I’ve never used U-Pack, but after doing a bit of research- all I could find out was that it’s better to call U-Pack for a quote vs. doing an online quote. The reviewers said it’s cheaper that way. Hope that helps. Good luck on your move! TX will be a blast I’m sure!

Omg, which part in N.Cali? We used to live in Vacaville. It was 30 mins from Napa and about 1.5 hours to San Francisco. That is exciting, love that area. There’s soooo much to do. I wish you all the best!
@@KayeinKansas Thanks for the informative video. We moved from Napa to Covington, LA in June and used North American/Fuller Moving ($18k). Nightmare. Now, believe it or not, need to move back to Napa next year and are considering using PODS. Looks like a 16' will work for us. Thanks again!
Omg, I’m so sorry you have to move again.... that’s sooo stressful. So, back to Napa though might be worth it. 18k? That’s insane. Pods definitely worth it if it works out for you. Well, whether it does or not please update us so people can get both sides of the story.
Pods suck. Had to use them because I needed storage while the lower level was demoed. They moved the pod, really, dug big trenches in the yard after saying it could "mess up the sod." That's differnt than leaving big trenches, taking firewood sticks to shore up the truck that are now buried in the yard and impossible to mow over. Then he took out a whole tree. I don't know how much a 30 foot dogwood tree goes for but we're about to find out. he hit another larger tree and the tree won. He broke the pod. These are heavy gauge steel and he broke it to hte point the roof had buckled and the door no longer opened. The bottom of the door will no longer seal so since this is snake season, something to watch out for. They promised they'd be out the next day to replace the pod, move the items in it and put the dogwood tree back up. Like, you can knock a tree down and just stand it back up? Never heard a word from them again. Filed the first of several complaints against them this morning. Trees are very expensive and he destroyed one tree, damaged the root system on the other and the bark, and if that's not enough, expect your asphalt driveway to be chewed up. And make sure your credit card processes. I have had it with the attitude of never showing up on time, never doing anything but destroying my property and lord knows what the contents look like after he hit the larger tree so hard that the steel buckled.
I am soooo sorry 😞. That is a lot to deal with, specially when you’re moving. It is stressful enough, I can’t even imagine. I hope that they do something for you. Or at least do a discount or refund. Even so, the loss of your tree is huge.
@@KayeinKansas , thanks. To date, they have done nothing. I expect that the work will be done, I'll call service master to put stuff back and guess what? They can't because the door won't go up. The attitude really sucks too of "oh, sorry for taking out a few limbs."

Hi Craig! Our house was about 1800 sq ft. And a huge shed. We managed to just use one 16 ft container. But we really got rid of most of our huge furnitures, and packed our container like a burrito. Every nook, cranny, and gap was stuffed. Hope this helps, how big is your house?
PODS recommends 1-16 ft and a 7 ft for lightly furnished homes, and 2 x 16 ft containers for heavily furnished homes. My husband and I stuffed our cars while we drove. Really up to you. It is doable to just have one 16 ft, you just have to pack your stuff in same size boxes and utilize your space very wisely.

Could you briefly elaborate on the schedule you had for the container, particularly one that you unpacked within the same month? We are debating how to distribute the days between packing - transport - unpacking and returning the container.
Transportation is dependent on when you want your POD to get to your destination- if you communicate it to them- they will get your POD there in time. For the packing, I think it took us about 2 weeks- but we seriously took our sweet time- then we had it in storage for about 6 months here in Kansas since we were building a house- unpacking was easy-it took hours since we hired help 😂
Well Savannah, there’s the PODS but there’s also other choices out there. Hopefully this video can help you make an informed decision. Good luck on your move!
PODS are used for moving, but once you get to your destination you can also use it to store your stuff in. You have the option to have your POD stored into their temperature controlled facility and you will get billed monthly- I hope that helps.
I'm cleaning out my house and garage to put my house up for sale. I was thinking of using a POD to store stuff until the move. PODS does not go to the area I'm considering so I'll have to unload it to move.. Is PODS worth it?
Hi Nancy, first off congrats putting your house up for sale-it is a sellers market. That seems like a lot of moving before your actual move… if PODS does not go to the area you’re moving to, I would look up another option maybe- hope that helps.

Thank you! I’m moving from California to Georgia and am considering using Pods. This was very help full. I’m concerned that a 16 won’t be big enough for my 2 bedroom condo. How much were you able to move with the 16?
Honestly, the 16 ft container does not look that big but if you plan it right you would be surprised at how much you can fit in there. We didn’t bring our washer/dryer but we had our Cal King, twin, and queen bed w box. Also, we brought most of our tools including a generator, miter saw electric, wet/dry vac, etc... and then 3 bedrooms full of stuff. We had tons of Christmas bins, garage stuff, a huge walk in shed items, office items, and my kitchen is a chefs kitchen (it’s huge). We sold our dining table, coffee table and bar stools. However, we did bring our 3- piece sectional couch. We had all those and it fit in 1 container. Let me say this, if you like Tetris and are good at it, you’ll be fine packing your container. 😂 Good luck in Georgia, please update me. I would love to hear your experience in moving!
@@KayeinKansas I'm a bit leery about "selling" household items (security, $ for the effort, etc). I'm thinking of just calling a "Got Junk" type business and have them haul all excess away. What method(s) did you use to sell your stuff? Thanks for your help.
Honestly, I’m with you. However, we made around $1200-1500- selling stuff on Facebook Marketplace- random stuff- I figured I’d post 1 item at a time- and you’ll be surprised. The stuff we didn’t sell, we had a hauler take to the dumpster- hope that helps
Better get concrete confirmation from PODS that they will deliver to your new residence! Also if you have to store them for later transfer they may Not be willing to deliver to your new address. We moved from Cali. and had them stored in Knoxville, when we wanted them to deliver to Cookeville, they refused even though the rep. had told us it was not a problem. Extra $1250 out of my pocket to pay movers. Poor customer service, wait on phone over 45 mins. Steer clear!
being an older couple, we need someone to load and unload the pods. Do they offer a service to do that? Or do I need to find another service to do the load/unload. Also picking information if someone knows. Thanks!
Do all of these types of companies have a liability clause for “mysterious disappearance?” I just read that in my pods agreement and now I’m thinking of canceling.
In my opinion, I think it would. But it all depends on how much furnishings you have and how tight you pack your PODS. Hoping for the best for your move!
I packed a full sectional couch And 3 sets of mattresses- I listed most of the big items that I fit in one 16 ft. Container - my newest PODS vlog might bring you a little comfort- you will do great I’m sure.

Hi Michael! You’ll have to call PODS for pricing. I know it’s inconvenient, I wish they gave an estimate through their website but they don’t. Good luck!
Thank you for the Info. We are moving from LA to Portland. However, we do have some heavy furnitures and I don't think my husband and I can move those in/out by ourselves. what should we do? Maybe PODS service doesn't suit us?
Good luck in Portland. We actually tried to ask friends and neighbors if they knew anyone we could hire to move the heavy stuff into our house, cost us about $120. Still overall, POdS was cheaper for us. However, if you don’t know anyone to help you move out big items, you might be better off hiring movers- it is considerably more expensive though. Let me know what you decide, hope this helps!
@yu wen su - I have heard that Pods can refer peoople at your loading and or unloading place to help you load and unload. I imagine there would be a minimum charge for someone to come out and help you load and unload but it probably would still be cheaper than hiring a moving van.
Francois Michal Every Bad review of this company Every bad review is absolutely true. God I wish I listened to them. It has been an absolute nightmare. I am a disabled Veteran, severly disabled and had to move. I called the Jackson N.J. location. They dropped off two POD units with no signed contract. I had some friends help me fill them. PODS came and instead of shipping direct to my new home, they put them in storage at a facility in Jackson, N.J., while debiting 200. a month each for 6 mos.. I found that trying to get them released was never going to happen, poor Customer service, and the storage fees were just escalating, I never signed a contract for either, they are in possession of stolen goods. If I could sit in my wheelchair in formt of the strage facility in Jackson N.J. I would do it to prevent others from this company and their shady practices. DON'T DO IT, there are many othe Companies that are AMERICAN, that will not SPIN you. Sincerely a severly Disabled person.

@@KayeinKansas Thanks. What payment methods did you use?
Sometimes we would take cash, but most of the time it was through Venmo or PayPal- we would literally do touch less sales-
What is high n low season?
High season is usually spring and low season winter when people aren’t wanting to move
Omg 😱 that is great to know. That’s horrible, I would’ve been Uber upset.
being an older couple, we need someone to load and unload the pods. Do they offer a service to do that? Or do I need to find another service to do the load/unload. Also picking information if someone knows. Thanks!
I’m so sorry, as far as I know they don’t offer services like that. You might have to hire someone or maybe invite people over for some pizza 🍕 😂
Do all of these types of companies have a liability clause for “mysterious disappearance?” I just read that in my pods agreement and now I’m thinking of canceling.
Omg, that is pretty scary.
How does the Pod lock? Is there a keypad where you use your 4-digit PIN, or does the renter have to put their own padlock on?
Hi JoraleMon, You have to put your own lock in it. And the tinier locks don’t fit so buy a couple different ones.
Are the ropes or cables for tie down included??
Yeah, they are not included. We had to provide our own.
Do you believe two 16 foot pods will accommodate a 3000sq home
In my opinion, I think it would. But it all depends on how much furnishings you have and how tight you pack your PODS. Hoping for the best for your move!
@@KayeinKansas the furniture is my real scare. It appears no one really packs couches from what I seen.
I packed a full sectional couch And 3 sets of mattresses- I listed most of the big items that I fit in one 16 ft. Container - my newest PODS vlog might bring you a little comfort- you will do great I’m sure.
I was certainly ripped off. PODS charged me almost $6000 to move from. Ventura County CA to DFW in July 2020.
Omg, that is a looooot! One POD? Or two? July would be their high season for sure. But snap that is pretty substantial.
Thank you 🕉️

Kaye in Kansas - Do you know about how many boxes you packed and what size boxes?
Omg, lemme just say a lot. If you were just packing boxes and no huge furniture, you can fit prolly like 100-150 boxes- of course depending on the size.
Hard to say exactly coz we had different sized boxes from work, and friends. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be more specific.
Can you have the pod placed in a storage where you move?
Yes! They have a storage facility in major cities almost everywhere.
Hi Kaye. What size PODS did you rent and how large was the house you moved from?
Hi there, we got a 1 x 16 ft container and our house was close to 1800 sq ft with a garage and large shed.
@@KayeinKansas Thank you!
No problem 😉
Would you use PODS to ship a grand piano??
Thank you
Sorry for the late reply- probably not
No !!
Did price they quote change after you received final bill?
Not really, however, we used the storage for a quite a while so we knew it was going to be a lot- it was definitely ballpark of their quote.
How much will be the cost of transport of 1070 mile
I’m so sorry Roger, I’m not sure you will have to call them for an estimate
@@KayeinKansas thanks
Does PODS except Credit Cards? Moving Carriers are now demanding Cash. 😰
Yes.
They do!
I need prices
Boomer Baby, great info- thanks for sharing!
@@JD-tn5tb Thank you so much for the Info.
Do you give the driver a tip$
No tip
Prices are pretty insane
Sadly, they are
Sounds like a gigantic hassle
It is a loooot of work... 😂
I just heard the prices and I left the video and ain’t no way I’m spending that much. But hey we’re only a family of 3 expecting 4 in February.
Omg I know what you mean. It is pricey that’s for sure. Congrats on your new addition to your family.

Every Bad review of this company Every bad review is absolutely true.
Hi Francois, thanks for serving our country. I’m a fellow veteran myself.
I am so sorry for the experience you went through, it does sound like you had it bad. I pray that things turn around for you. And I sincerely hope that PODS make it right for you.
I respect your opinion, and glad that you expressed it here- this will help people decide whether PODS is for them or not.
Pods is the worst experience in the moving industry... absolutely the worst customer SERVICE ....PODS... PILE OF DOG SHIP
Joe- I’m so sorry you had a bad experience with them. It definitely makes an already stressful situation even more stressful- I hope everything else works out for you though.
Check your levels before you record absolutely can’t hear you
I’m so sorry about that.
dont put valuables in pods. they have weeks to sort through your stuff. they take what can be sold fast.
Please don't ruin Kansas by voting blue
Do you vote Democrat?..
I just moved with pods. I'm thinking about making a video.
You should totally do it, it really helps a lot of people with their decisions on moving.
