U-Haul U-Box rental is the cheapest and most convenient option for anything over 1500 miles. 4 of those boxes are equal to 20ft truck in terms of volume.

1900 miles from Clearwater FL to El Paso TX… did it in 59 hrs with a toddler a cat and a dog in a 20 ft UHAUL w/ trailer for my 4 dr sedan attached. Horrible experience spent about $700+ on the GAS alone plus the truck was like $2800 and the movers were like $400 total load and unload. Add in the money blown on hotels and food and I blew like $5k bro. Also bought the insurance and it was so worth it because a trailer flew a pebble and broke the windshield.

like everything else in this disgusting country the moving industry IS ONE BIG SCAM! i called four major movers. "north american" never called me back. "allied" flat out refused to do the move. and "mayflower" and "united van lines" are the same same company. after i agreed to a price THEY ILLEGALLY HIKED UP THE PRICE! and they committed 20 other laws and ethical standards. what i;ve learned is - all these companies are brokers. none of them do the actual moiving themselves. they asigne the jobs yo local affiliates.
i've been trying to move FOR TWO YEARS! and i keep being denied my right to do so. i'm 64 years old and extremely ill and i'm BEING FORCED to move myself - ALL BY MYSELF! and uhaul demands $900 for their smallest cargo trailer! that's how corrupt and dispicable this country is.

@@notacoolperson4586 If you have dogs. See if you can register them as service dogs so they can stay at just about any hotel. If you already have a truck. I would say get a long covered trailer for 6k to 10k. Your truck will get better gas milage and you can sell the trailer for about what you bought it for. I didn't realize this till after the move and would have saved me thousands. We already had a dodge ram 1500. We broke the trip up into 3 days. Just east of St Louis was the first night and Lake City Florida was the second night. Bob is right, avoid the DT areas of big cities unless that is something you really want to see. South East...Tennessee, try and drive that in the day and avoid Atlanta rush hour, lol. Second say is the longest as far as drive and the drive from Lake City to Tampa was pretty simple, but we wanted to have energy to unpack once we hit our destination on the 3rd day of driving. Hopefully that makes sense.

One thing is quite disappointed that you 2 did jobs of completely moving and missing the fun part of traveling since it was the great opportunity of driving across country!😅😊

The only way I would pay people to move my shit across country is if I put the lock on the back and so they could not open and get access to my shit and I also didn’t pay them until they got there and any damaged things came out that payment

I used PODS...no complaints; other than that, was going to use again, but PODS price increased over $1000 more ( was $1800, now $3000)! Considering renting Penske cargo van, but nervous considering I am not sure how difficult it will be to drive from Houston to Ohio in a van ( have done it in SUV). Also nervous about what weather conditions that I may encounter-- I hate driving if raining hard. I enjoy a good road trip, but hate solo driving as a female. If I go the driving route, I also am trying to see if I can fly someone out to assist...not always easy.

You're better off just selling your big items, moving the stuff yourself in a truck and buy new things. Even paying someone to load unload that's it. You waste way more paying to move it all
