  • Amazing video of the Chicago Fire Department battling the original 5-11 alarm fire with 2 special alarms. The warehouse in Bridgeport IL re-ignites on 01/24/2013. The building is encased in ice from the cold weather and snow creating a sureal scene.
    This video includes water battering the building and "Big Mo" dousing it!

    I pray all fire and first responders stay safe in this long and dangerous fire. Our daughter and family live nearby and grandkids attend Namaste School, even closer. Thank you for risking your lives in last week's frigid ice and this week as well.Take care of your breathing so no problems happen later. thank you thank you. -Friends in Philadelphia

    I have a few applications for the iphone/ipad that record CFD fire suppression. 60 min replay on broadcasts and then simple email. There are also quite a few online resources if you look around enough.

    Battling a 5-11 alarm fire? I don't see a fire. All I see is them spraying water at an abnormally frozen and seemingly run-down building (seriously how does something in the middle of a city freeze over that much without everything around it being just as bad and without human beings doing it on purpose?). Are they purposefully freezing this building or what's going on exactly?

    • @illeatyourself
      @illeatyourself 10 лет назад

      Not saying it's any less amazing, just wondering exactly what I'm looking at.

      i think the house was burning and as they started putting out the fire, the water froze

      illeatyourself: Well lets see smoke rising from the building large master streams spraying water on the building Structure mostly destroyed by fire and exterior walls of brick and concrete. Covered in ice how many thousands of gallons sprayed at the burning structure over the hours it took to suppress this fire. Just from the streams I saw I would conservatively estimate the amount of water to be 2000 G.P.M. I would say that is why the fire building is covered in ice and the surrounding structures are not so covered. It could also account for why the building looks like it does.

      @@retiredarthritic2083 This footage is from the afternoon following, about 18 hours after the fire started. It burned quite merrily from about 830pm until 2am or so. Melted the taillights on our rig.
