Fast forward to first year of university, 21 days in: architecture is happening, civil engineering is happening, free time is happening, and music is happening with Leeds University Union Music Society (LUUMS)'s Composers Collective group.
So I had access to the School of Music's underground labyrinth of practice rooms to record a brainstorming draft, video playing simultaneously, as I strained my neck to look around while improvising on the piano with my phone recording. In classic practice room quality, some clarinet is playing next door in the background.
Piano drafts help outline the thing before further detailed timing is nailed down and the entire soundtrack orchestrated. I'd prefer a full 88-key piano, especially since I don't have a more-than-3-octave MIDI keyboard, and I really want to get the full orchestral range experimented. As much as electronics are fancy, nothing beats a proper real physical instrument.
At this stage animation has already caught up, and the remaining months are spent compositing, editing, polishing, and me complaining to ‪@AshaPhaedra‬ that credits are misaligned and sound effects are off timing. And also finishing off about 10 minutes of remaining soundtrack with ‪@RandyMightDoStuff‬.
Great thanks to ‪@luumslive7090‬ (and LUUMS Composers Collective - see final debut in Winter Series concerts) for the opportunity.
