Film score for Toniko Pantoja's animation "Wolfsong", a bittersweet about a wolf mother trying to claim back her cub. The score revolves around a lullaby that takes a reccuring role. This is an extended version of it, ending with an acoustic piano part of the theme.

Seeing this short film...hearing this song...it always makes me cry.
Animals are not mindless beasts. They may not perceive the world as we do, nor do they have the brain capacity of us humans to see the universe as we see it, but they do have brains. Animals can think, animals can _feel_. They know pain, and from what we have seen they can know sorrow and sadness. They can know companionship too, like our own pets if we have them. When an animal does anything that may seem evil or mean it's not that they're trying to be mean, they're just trying to survive. To treat animals cruelly or as things to be used for whatever purposes we deem fit is, in my opinion, unjust.
I can understand people hunting animals for food or materials. Sure, after hunting a deer maybe they'll hang the antlers on their wall but the rest of the animal is usually put to good use. Lots of people I've met don't understand that and just label it as "killing for a trophy" when it's really not, unlike the guy in this short film who kills the pup to stuff it and pose it as a trophy in his parlor. People who just kill for sport can show some of the worst in humanity, although I must admit that some of it is ethical. Also, I want to address this, forgive me if I'm biased or wrong in any way. I eat meat. I love the taste of meat and eat it daily. I can't deny it, although I may attempt to be vegetarian/vegan at some point in my life. It's just not something I'm currently willing to give up. An animal suffers to give me nutrition, and I'm thankful for that. What I cannot understand, is some people hating on others because they eat meat and don't "care" about the animals that died. It's just not true. Sure, I may not think of the animal who died when I eat BBQ Ribs but I don't eat BBQ Ribs just to be cruel or because I don't care about an animal's death. So I have to ask all those out there who go hating on hunters for hunting to sustain themselves and normal people for being omnivores to stop. It's really just uncalled for. The short film Wolfsong is meant to point out one of the many faults in humanity. It's not meant as a trigger to go hating on every hunter and meat eater out there. I was saddened to see a comment hating on these types of people just because of that.

I agree with you. Some of my family members hunt deer (including my dad) but only during hunting season. We aren't allowed to kill fawns or doe, we are only allowed to hunt old bucks. And we have hunting season specifically for deer because of over population. Besides, whatever we get, we skin and take the meat to be processed. At first, I was against killing and eating deers, until my mom and dad told me that they were over populating the forest and that their teeth eventually wares down causing them to starve to death so by killing the old ones, we're sparring them from the pain of starvation.
I agree with both of you, animals are amazing, some animals help with human emotions more than the human's family, like me and my family and my dad's dog Toes, when I go in a room with him upset I start laughing because he always wants to play and kisses me a bunch, me and my family think he is part fox, and I love our little fox, along with helping emotions animals can do more, like horses can help people physically and mentally, riding a horse fixed someone's intestines and riding a horse can help with autism, and dogs can lead people to their owner if they are hurt, my mom's dog from years back took down a bunch of criminals, and he wasn't ever a police dog, animals also can figure out if someone is good or bad by reading their emotions, honestly I have said repeatedly animals are better than humans, except in some cases, and my opinion on wolves? if I saw someone hunting a wolf I would be hunting a hunter, I love wolves they are my favorite animal because of the pet I had when I was little who was part wolf, she died years ago but I still love her so much, I honestly love it when people visit with wolves and show to the world that they are not evil, that they can become friends with humans like any dog, and many people raise lions and someone tells them to get rid of it and they take it to a place where it could be free and years later they go to that place and the lion loves on them, just like a cat would, actually more like how a humanized cat would because the lion hugged them and loved on them, and historically a dog who was half wolf half husky saved bunches of people by helping to deliver medicine to a town, if you look up Balto that movie was based off of a true story that happened I don't even know how long ago, animals are amazing, more amazing than most people, honestly if I had to chose between living with a wolf pack or living with my sister I would live with the wolves, call me crazy but I really would

The one who had so lovingly my cared for me, her song, is our song now, and will be passed down generation to generation, from one to another, another to one. The ethereal lullaby, howled in the most beautiful of voices, rings in my head, protecting me from the darkness. This, truly, is the Wolfsong.

As one who has a strong love for wolves this song really speaks to me. It represents the horror & struggles wolves have to go through because of these damn humans who hunt for sport.
Exactly how I feel! Wolves are such amazing creatures and my favorite animal so I hate to see them get a bad rep.
I showed the animation to my mom and she said that pay back is hell and then she told me that every mom is just like that, A wolf protecting her pup, Even if it means risking her life. Just watching it a 3rd time makes me cry..

Such a cruel world we live in today... Where people kill magnificent creatures like wolves and elephants for fun. Especially wolves. Just the mere thought of killing these beautiful creatures makes me sad. I have never seen a wolf with my own eyes before, but they are magnificent animals, and they deserve to live. One of my goals in life is to see a wolf out in the wild with my own eyes.

Simple work around for me, I have a mod that gave me a perk that makes it so all animals are non hostile from the start of the game. (Warning: If used wait until after the opening sequence to enable it or it will bug the main quest causing you to never access it) I believe the name of the mod was realm of lorkan, or something along those lines.

This music is truest beauty. It not only conveys the emotions of someone but also makes you feel those emotions. Almost any song can convey joy or anger, heck even confusion, but only the greats songs make you feel pain, lose, and deep sorrow. It makes my heart throb in sadness whenever I hear it yet I still continue to listen to it over and over again and I don’t know why. May those who are feeling such sorrow and pain remember that there is alway someone there for you when you need it all you have to do is ask.

The animation kills me every time to see humans kill these animals for sport. For food I am fine but to show them off saying I killed a living thing for fun with no reason. It pains me to see that the world is like this though. You may want to make them feel ashamed but most are stuck in their ways or simply like doing it. Also, there are people out there who do care for the animals all around us that some just kill with pleasure. It will not be easy to change and I doubt we would be able to change soon. Say the global warming, no matter how hard some people try, it doesn't stop. Sea pollution. It is still happening people feel that the sea is just a big trash-can. Actually it is not. It is filled with beautiful creatures that only know how to survive. They do not know that plastic is not good or waste can carry disease. Even though there are animals that have a bad reputation, they are just doing what they know. The world has changed over the years. A lot. I wish it would suddenly vanish, but it won't.

What kind of monster would shoot a wolf. Wolves have feelings to they want to protect there pack from danger it’s the saddest thing when a miss understood Creature like the wolf gets shot. People think wolves are deadly monsters but they have a different side to them. Which is that wolves are very peaceful,Sweet,loving,kind,
beautiful,miss understood and protective creatures wolves don’t want to hurt anyone they just need there space but once they start seeing you as a friend and not as a threat they will start trusting you and when they do leave them alone because if you threaten them you will lose there trust so please don’t hunt wolves. I think hunting wolves should be illegal like and comment if you agree.

I cried and hugged my bro I can never forget that day.... rip copper....... but we toke copper to the vet hopeing she Will be alive and she was but we were moveing and we had to give copper away and the next day wan copper had left we get a call from the guy saying she had died....... wan I heard I just ran outside crying. and looked at the Moon and felt a dog sitting next to me.... and I cured more and more hugging the air but somehow I was not hugging the air. I was huging copper and I an I still feel her.....

I know how you fell i lost my little puppy Flöckchen she saved my live because i wanna kill myself because i have no friends and my Family was never at home so i was alone all the time. it was 7 Years ago and i remeber that day clearly i was sitting in my room and hold a sword to kill me and than i hear a voice inside of me i dont Know Where it comes from and i wait that day i sitting ther and cry than my Mom calls me i come to the kitchen and ther was four puppys one of them i called Flöckchen and i love her all the seconds more......But than .... my parents sold her and i never saw her again... my only Friend was gone forever... my only friend who show me friendschiep and the felling of a real familie i dont know what dto do....but then i now what i do to LIVE..... FIND FLÖCKCHEN..... I hope you or someone else will read that sad story of my life to know that you only have to wait to find YOUR part in the World hope you never fell that saddness like me!!! ;(

I've seen this short film, but I never looked into the music. Recently I saw the Fox Fires short film and had to look for the music, I had no idea you were the same composer for both!
