    I just received my fx9000 today. turned it on and went thru all the updates. tested on a chevrolet equinox with all kinds of issues and it picked up a lot of fault codes I was surprised at how easy it was to use. I even sent myself a report via email which allowed me to see all the codes and then research what they were from my home computer. I am using the Chevrolet Equinox as a learning tool. Thanks for your video. And I hope to see more about the FX9000 soon

    Darren thanks for sharing. Are there bi-directional controls? Guess I should go and read up on it. But all your info and videos have been spot on. Is it still usable if the subscription expires or do you have to up date the unit? Just a couple of questions I’m sure I’ll have a few more.
    Stay well and safe Artie 😊

    • @MechanicMindset

      Hi, I think the bi directional capability is limited and doesn’t have the full features like power window actuation. It did say there were some component activations for OBD feature but not tried yet. When the subscription expires, this unit will continue to operate on the software it has installed; not restricted. Cheers Artie!

      @@MechanicMindset I have a couple of handheld diagnostic tools that I use. Neither are as comprehensive as the one you have reviewed. For very quick engine diagnostics I use the Ancel AD310 (£35 from Amazon). It connects with the vehicle in 10 seconds, reads codes, gives I/M readiness, and allows you to read a variety of Parameter Identifiers. Quick and easy to use. For ABS and RCM faults I use a Foxwell 650 elite. It’s okay, a bit of a hit or a miss what vehicles it works with. In my case, many of these tools don't cover Australian built Fords and GM (Holdens) ... haven't been able to determine yet whether this tool will do that.

    Nice review. Cheap tool and updates. I prefer wireless. I use Launch as my everyday tool. Love it 2 years free updates. Unfortunately the update period is just up, and to renew is nearly the price of a new unit. I would like to try autel but unfortunately they only seem to give one year of updates.

      Sorry I am not sure of all the models it supports. Maybe you can contact OBDZON.com directly and they can advise. They also have a RUclips channel 👍

    This may be a good scanner but it’s disingenuous for Ancel to claim bidirectional status when it clearly does not support that function. This was the only reason I considered purchasing this model.

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  3 года назад

      Yes, it's not 'full' bi directional. It does have all the calibration features and there is a feature in the I/M OBD section for component activation but doesn't work on my car.

    Ancel is b.s with their yearly subscription. There are much better scan tool out there that you don't have to pay subscription fee.

      Hi, the good thing with this tool is that you dont have to pay and the tool still works. It’s not an expense you want if you dont use it that often, but if you do it’s nice to have the latest vehicles loaded. I dont think it’s that expensive either, most reputable tools have a charge and supports the development required to keep tools that last up to date 👍

    Although I really like most of the videos put out by this channel, I feel the tool reviews are really just infomercials. I'm guessing because they are sponsored. that's too bad.

      Hi Mark, yes these are definitely honest reviews of the tools I have been sent. Not ashamed to say that they bring in a tiny bit of revenue for new filming and scope equipment for the channel. Plus they rank well in searches and bring in new viewers. I do turn a lot of offers to review products down as I’m conscious not to do too many and some of it is just not up to standard. Thanks for the feedback 👍
