- Reviewing the new Eve / Dough Spectrum in Glossy. Seriously great monitor that has pretty much every feature you could want in a high end monitor. This glossy version in particular is really nice and it's great to see a glossy monitor, when the industry usually only provides matte displays. I'll be using it as part of my main gaming setup going forward.

It's a fantastic monitor but the horror stories about this company seriously put me off
You’re always commenting on the tech channels bro. Nice to see you lol
Chippy always out here supporting fellow creators.
What stories?
@Davon Corbett oh God, unbelievable man… that's really an absurd. thank you for your feedback, i got really interested because it's 4K, infinity edge, 144hz and mainly glossy, but now i won’t waste my time and money!
6 months and nothing so far, i fucking hate these guys
Now that the glossy version is $1,099, it might be better for some of you to wait for these upcoming 27" 4K high refresh mini-LED monitors that should be around the same price or a bit higher. Yeah the waiting sucks but you're likely going to have to wait for this Eve/Dough monitor anyways.
100%
Or wait for dough to make a mini led version of this monitor
Yeah they really shot themselves in the foot with their price increase. Who do they think they are? Eve/Dough is a no name startup commanding high prices.
Six month plus wait for an eve to maybe turn up or 1 month for the 2022 32inch LG. Think I’ll save the money, the panel used in the eve can be had for £500 in the uk.
which monitors coming are mini hed 144hz 4k ?
I think the biggest thing is not having USB-C (powered) for most gaming monitors. Drives me insane because I use my monitor for gaming and work! This is what really appealed to me when i first saw the eve spectrum.
I know the company is super sketchy but I absolutely love my Eve spectrum. Being able to have a great screen for a MacBook Pro that allows for 4K and promotion along with getting 4K 120hz with my series x is an amazing experience
How long did you wait for yours?
@@codytanksley6673 couple months unfortunately
@@MrSassle im honestly considering because it is a perfect fit for me. what is a couple of months like 3, 5? I looked at their shipping time frame and it says "7 - 15 days", highly doubt that.
@@bogarmartinez2231 ya I think they ship a lot faster now.
@@bogarmartinez2231 mine was I think 2 months but that’s when the Eve spectrum first hit the market. I’m sure you can probably get them now pretty quickly
Glossy screen reminds me of my 2009 HP laptop when glossy was just standard back then. Until some idiot realized that it’s probably good idea to degrade picture quality drastically by putting matte screen on it.And here we are.
I'm sure they rebranded because of the past controversies surrounding them
Great video. The monitor looks amazing. I have heard it's great from those people that have actually received their monitor. I was happy that there was finally a company that was making a monitor that checked all/most of the boxes vs most monitors out there you have to see what multiple things you're going to compromise on.
I would recommend people wait until the company fixes their supply chain and R&D issues before purchasing one.
I ordered mine in November 2021, it was due to ship in April 2022. In late March / Early April they sent an email saying that they were having issues and that panel was still in R&D..... If a product is stuck in R&D, that means you knew weeks if not months before that the April 2022 date was not feasible but they waited for the last minute to tell their customers. I asked for a refund and it never came. I followed up and they said it'll take a week...that week came and went and followed up again for them to tell me "we'll do it soon". Rinsed and repeated for ~2 months until I finally called AmEx to do a chargeback. The updated ETA for my panel was October 2022...who knows how much that will get pushed by.
Did you end up getting your monitor?
@@dillonodell30 Nope. Luckily I used AmEx for the transaction. I showed them the evidence that the company was being sketchy and they credit'd me the money back and pulled the funds from the vendor. I know a lot of people were kind of out of luck. That's why I never pay things with a debit card.
Nice monitor, would be great to see a long term video on using the glossy display pros cons and any eye strain.
Glossy is the way. Ive learned my lesson with matte coatings kills color saturation and clarity
This is a super long rant / discussion about Eve but I want to give a user experience dealing with Eve now known as Dough
I’m one of the few people who has an Eve Spectrum, I had been through a lot with them just like many about their horrible refund process (or lack their of… to the point I open a dispute rather than dealing with them after asking multiple times for a refund).
When I first heard of the Eve Spectrum it was like a dream come true, usb c + HDMI 2.1 ports and a design with little to no bezels. This works great with my use of macOS / usb c hardware and PS5 using VRR and 120hz without the ugly designs of gaming monitors and over the top RGB lights.
Buying experience: I ordered mine on august 2021 (I ordered standard), it is now November 2021 and they tell me they’ll ship it in January. Out of nowhere they now accept my request for a refund, even though I was willing two wait an extra two months at this point. It is now February 2022, I go back and see what other’s experience about Eve and I take a chance but this time order it with express shipping. By the way, the monitor price keeps increasing even though the tech should be devaluing and should be going down in price but it is whatever (for now). It is basically almost a repeat of before but $100 more expensive than August 2021. I decided to just buy one off from eBay, now I’m just waiting for a refund from them (opens another dispute as well, in case they don’t give it to me). This is the crazy part, after a couple of days with my eBay eve spectrum, Eve gives me the DHL tracking for my actual Spectrum and I couldn’t believe my eyes after seeing that email. I got rid of the first Spectrum since I rather have the one I got and on the back of the monitor it says it was manufactured January 2022 (I don’t know what difference, if any from the July 2021 models).
Things I like: the OSD (a bit confusing at first but very simple and passable), Software updates such as bringing VRR to ps5, split screen support between different port connection or mirroring same display (for some reason?, I don’t know why you would want to have the same screen twice). The king of ports, the spectrum truly has everything (2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 USB C up and 1 usb c for peripherals, 1 display port and even a USB B port, lol)
Things I dislike : Horrible communication from Eve now known as Dough, I feel bad for anyone still waiting for a refund. Also, the price increases as time goes on. These Spectrum’s keep getting more expensive as the months go by, and it’s crazy because I’ve heard that this is just a re-package of the LG 27GP950-B which is lowering in price (as old tech should be). I got rid of my LG 27GP950-B because I HATED the annoying RGB when turning on the monitor and the on screen display I thought was pretty horrible and over the top compared to the on screen display of something like the lG 32Ul950-W or their other less gamery monitors.
Other thoughts : I hope that my Spectrum never damages because I will have a hard time finding an equivalent monitor from any other brand or trying to deal with their support (which I hope isn’t as bad as their refund team.) I love the Spectrum because 27 inches is good enough for me and the little bezels all around truly does make it feel like it is a bigger size compared to my other 27 inch monitors. HDMI 2.1 for my ps5 and future consoles that can use HDMI 2.1
Final thoughts: I wish other brand took this type of gaming monitor concept of a 4k 144hz monitor with little bezels (no intrusive brand logos on bottom bezel), good OSD, decent price ($800, maybe?) with better support (hardware and software wise).
TLDR; I LOVE the fact that the Spectrum looks professional and can be used daily without the gamer design but is still a gaming capable monitor, dealing with Eve (Dough) is a pain when it comes to support or refunds. The prices need to be cheaper and not increasing as time goes on. Lastly, do your research and know what you're getting into when it comes to buying straight from Dough. I you can find one on eBay for a reasonable price, please do if it interests you before someone else does.
I wish we could get LG do offer glossy on their high end stuff. I want the new 32GQ950-B without the stand. I would pay $100 more for glossy on it.
The reason glossy monitors feel more premium and cleaner is because they don't diffuse light eminating from pixels. Mat monitors sactter light in all directions (that's why the don't reflect well). Lines, fonts and images appear less sharp on them.
Im only going to get this monitor when i can buy from 3rd party vendors not direct, their reddit is full of people not receiving monitors and no refunds
I’m one of them. Waiting 40 business days and counting for my refund. Had to initiate a dispute with my CC.
@@mtor82that's so bad, kinda of worrying with the name change how it affects those with disputes etc.. hope things work out well for you
Same, at 60 days and no refund. Terrible company. 100% do not recommend.
The name change is probably because EVE was getting so many chargebacks from credit card companies they basically got blacklisted. They owe so much money to customers they cheated from undelivered/broken devices. Check the forums for horror stories (although they delete most of them) and the subreddit.
Lucky you, been waiting for my monitor over half a year and still not even shipped. At this point, I consider that money gone...
For this specific monitor I think lots of people who paid for one years ago would just like for it to come out, period.
I pre-ordered my base model Spectrum in July 2020. One month ago I upgraded my order to the 4k model because I was pretty sure I would never get that thing anyways. Now that eve is called Dough they actually canceled the wqhd 144hz model..... they really are kinda weird so don't expect that thing to get to your front door as quick as if you ordered an alternative on Amazon....
A fellow Cars with Luke fan! Respect.
I loved the song in the end of the video
Oliur: Finishes editing video
Eve: "Alright, Price of the brick going up."
As much as i would like to criticize the price increase (the same lg panel is still relatively the same price) I understand why a smaller company needs more money. I hope they can scale up and bring the cost back down to something more reasonable.
I wish Eve/Dough nothing but the best but i wont be a customer until i hear better feedback and experience from customers.
@@JOHNY0 It's not the exact but the closest to the matte panel is the LG 27GN950-B. It doesn't get as bright and doesn't have as many ports although if that's not a concern for you, then the savings could be worthwhile to you. As far as I know, there isn't a glossy version which is a shame. I'm really hoping someone like LG or Dell makes a monitor with that panel so we don't have to buy from Eve/Dough.
@@lolfirepoisonftl Why can't LG just sell a glossy version of their own panel? I don't trust this no name Dough company.
@@cemsengul16 I feel exactly the same as you do. LG made the glossy panel for Dough, so why not make their own monitor with it? I'm willing to pay a bit more knowing that I'll actually get the monitor instead of dealing with months of delays and terrible customer service.
@@lolfirepoisonftl I can't understand how glossy monitors have become a rarity and now we have to pay a premium to get one in 2022.
First of all, this quality content is just jaw dropping, dude… What an image, what a photography, congrats on the channel.
Second, it's unbelievable that Apple is one of the only brands that make glossy monitors. Damn, I got so frustrated that Dell and other companies make this anti-reflective screen, it loses so much brightness and sharpness, I hate it. Glad to know that Eve/Dough is producing glossies too! Now I have to find out how to order one for Brazil, which is the country I live.
Thanks for the video! ;)
Glossy sucks big time
@@reveurerrant3323 definitely disagree. Got an HP25f a few years ago after seeing it on display because of its low haze “glossy” coating. My brother in law saw it and now wants a glossy monitor for his next one. There’s a reason most TVs and video editing monitors are glossu
I really hope they improve their shipping times and customer support with the company rebranding. It'd be worth the price bump then
Also the best part about this monitor to me personally is that there is dp 1.4 integrated into the type c port, so you can get up to 4k 120hz with this as an external display with a macbook
@@omerkhan9286 The new corsair is cheaper and has these features in their 32 inch model. Never trusting eve/dough with my money after how badly they treat their customers time and time again.
@@rcarter1690 it’s glossy?
@@Cloudymindxii glossy monitors are overrated and if you buy an eve/dough monitor you likely will either never receive it or it will break in the first year with zero warranty/repair. Don’t get conned.
@@rcarter1690 Respectfully, that’s you’re opinion. Plenty of people enjoy glossy monitors especially as the use case has increasingly varied. Also, why people love watching content on TV’s. I have two Eve Spectrum’s. I don’t pretend that Eve is a good company but they do make a good product. I haven’t had any issues with the exception of the paint chipping on one of the stands. I have come across plenty others that have them and love them. The problem has been the customer service and shipping issues.
I love that small little flex dropping a 3K bomb on Apex 😂
I own the matte version of the 4K/144Hz Eve Spectrum. It's nice and I'm sure the glossy version would be good in dark rooms but for the price of $1100 USD ($1200 with the stand), the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 beats it easily. The Neo G8 is 4K/240Hz, Gsync compatible, Quantum HDR 2000, with 1196 local dimming zones that makes blacks almost OLED-like! I got my Neo G8 for only $1168 USD (tax included) due to promotional price & discounts. But even at MSRP of $1499, I'll still pick the Neo G8. Fast delivery too. Got mine in less than a week!
When did you recieve your Spectrum monitor? I'm still waiting for it. They say estimated shipping is in this month August.
@@Shadowsmoke11 I got mine around Dec. of 2021. This is the matte version. Glossy wasn't available yet back then. I waited a few months too to get mine. What sux is my monitor developed two vertical lines defect that wont go away no matter what I did. I have to go to their official forums and posted pictures of the defect. I documented with timelines their approach on resolving my issue. This put a pressure on them and I had my monitor sent and repaired in about two weeks. They used a 3rd party company here in the US that does repairs on displays that's why it was fast. I didn't have to send it all the way back to them.
Unless you specifically need the features the Eve Spectrum monitor offers like the the many ports it has, having a USB-C port that has 100w that can power your laptop and accept display signal at the same time, etc. .. I would cancel my order.
There are plenty of cheaper and better alternatives now that has much better customer support.
@@xellaz There is no other glossy alternative to this though. So the Spectrum is the only option available to me.
@@Shadowsmoke11 True. Well I hope you get your monitor soon without any issues. Good luck!
Weird how eve charges more for the glossy version while apple charges more for the matte version. Fine by me tho, my studio display was expensive enough and the glossy display is honestly superior
I just ordered the LG 32" 4k gaming monitor at 144hz wtih HDR 1000 for $999 (with a stand). Although it doesn't have USB-C ports, I won't be needing them for gaming. You can't beat the nVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible & AMD FreeSync too.
I finally received mine ordered it November last year didnt get it until March this year never thought I would get it, to those that have an order currently it will get fulfilled problem is you won't know when until you get that lovely shipping email
I am very happy with the matte eve Spectrum here @home => I do really want an 32inch 4K glossy if they make one someday
Facts, I'm disappointed to hear there isn't a 32 inch.. 4k at 27 inches is not the sweet spot.
Just casually showing a 16 kill win on Storm Point 🥵
I don't know why but i get more productive, and feel more creative using a glossy monitor. Wish there were more options.
Okay so this monitor is great. Are there any others even remotely in the ballpark? I’m looking for a glossy monitor, three to be specific, but a thousand dollars each is a bit steep
It's crazy. You just don't seem to be able to buy a glossy monitor for PCs anywhere (at an affordable price). Apart from certain types of room, glossy monitors are fantastic (colours pop!). All Apple computers have glossy screens. Why does no one else make them? I've been buying HP w2207h monitors since 2007 (second hand ones of course), which are glossy and great (but very old now). I've never been able to find anything comparable. If you find one, let me know!
ALOGIC Clarity 4K UHD 27" Monitor is glossy.
@@TheThingKing I'm not so sure, all the product images show a matte effect on the screen
Hey Oli - curious, what res do you run your 4k monitor in macOS? do you crank it up to native res, use Default, or one of the scaling options?
Would have loved an Eve Spectrum but the thing is if you're not a RUclipsr who might give rosy statements about the real thing, there's a small chance they'll actually send it to you. They kept emailing me saying it was the Hong Kong government or the Russian invasion or the supplier or the shipping industry and it was so convoluted. Blame anything except overpromising. Cancelled it and got a refund.
im waiting for my eve device from 2017... still nothing changed and no point of getting a refund.
I probably would have ordered this monitor a while ago if it wasn’t for the horrible shipping times and customer service. Changing your name to escape the bad PR isn’t going to help.
Your videos are so esthetically pleasing and easy to watch. Good stuff, once more 👍🏼
I have not heard nothing about my order it was placed in March this is crazy
Personally, I would pay $100 to have a glossy screen on every monitor. Glossy screens add contrast, colors, and lighting you ended up losing with matted screens.
EXACTLY
people seems to pretend like reflection doesn't exist on matte display. it still does and even more bigger and more fuzzy.
@@twogirlsoneblahaj also lets not forget how faded matted screens becomes in the day time on top of still having reflections. Sometimes even maxing out the brightness doesn’t help. So I have to pull my shades down anyway.
I KNOW, reflection does exist in matte screens AND it's even worst because it makes the light diffuse and bigger than actual is, so you have difficult to see pixels at the same way! it should be mandatory all the companies who produce monitors sell a glossy version, damn it
I can't stand matte displays. How did we reach the point where only one company offers a glossy monitor?
I cancelled my eve 4k and I had to request a charge back to get my monies back. Waited 20 business days then eve told me they made an error and I have to wait another 20 days. Which was the final straw. Hope lg or another company do a glossy panel soon. At that price buy a 42 or 48 inch oled tv with glossy screen
Damn this is exactly what happened to me. I’m still waiting after 38 business days
I initiated a CC dispute 30 days ago, takes about 60-90days for resolution. ☹️
@@mtor82 we should charge them interest given inflation. How does a company get away with this
OmG that monitor looks very pro. Right now, I'm making a note about the elements that I want to change in my home office and the monitor is one of them. This week, a Protractor Desk from Barcelona Designs was delivered to my door, right now I'm ordering a new task chair and I think I already have the ideal monitor for me. I really want some quality because I work with graphic design and I need to raise my level of professional quality. Thanks for the review!
Man from one youtuber to another, your videos are so frickin clean. What camera/pic profiles are you using?
I love everything about this monitor (if you an actually get it) BUT i can't get away from using my 38" 144hz ultrawide. if only I could have a glossy high refresh ultrawide
I hate the facts that they have those delays otherwise I would have bought one. Can’t take the risk of not receiving any display for that price
I was previously interested in this monitor because of the specs and price point, but after learning about their reputation and price increase, I think I'd rather go for the Huawei Mateview GT.
isnt that a matte ultrawide? theyre pretty incomparable. The alienware 34 curved qd-oled is superior to the mateview in every way. Glossy, higher refresh, better panel, higher brightness etc.
This is a great monitor no doubt, but it can't be as great as it should be if users can't get them on hand. I bought the 4k 144hz version in Dec 2021, and the monitor has still not been shipped. Every time I sent emails to ask, they just say they are working on it and that's it, no follow-ups.
Damn that sucks, really hoping you get it soon because it's inexcusable to be waiting almost 8 months now.
Are you getting it?
Great review! Comme Des Garcons drip looks fye.
The gn950 is pretty much the same as the matte eve spectrum but for 300+ cheaper. U could go gp950 if u need hdmi 2.1
Why tf is glossy more expensive? Isn't the matte coating an extra step and component in manufacturing?
Would be nice if you could show off the wake from sleep time when connected to a macbook.
I put a down payment for this monitor and i wanted to back out last year, they didn’t let me…. So not a really good impression for me
Thanks for this video! I’d love a glossy Eve/Dough monitor.
Btw do you stream Apex? I’d love to see you play that amount of kills is impressive. Do you play ranked too?

Are you using it with a "Retina FullHD" (4K) or "Apple Studio Display" (5K) resolution? Looks like you are scaling the resolution to the former, but I was wondering if you tried to scale it to a virtual 5K.
Moin Oliur,

Honestly the eve naming was more iconic
Funny how Apple does the complete opposite, "standard" is glossy and you have to pay extra to get a matt coding
On *most* (all?) monitors, probably including this one, it's a matte coating. All panels are glossy by default. You can find videos of people removing the anti-glare (matte) coating. Unless they did something specific here, they're just fleecing customers because glossy screens are relatively novel in the PC monitor space. Apple's approach makes sense; you add something and you pay for it. This seems like you're paying for them to not put stuff on your monitor.
@@brddork true but as you state it’s unusual for the market they are selling in hence the higher cost

Heyyy I see you watch Cars With Luke !!! Monitor looks amazing but that price tag though.
I’ve heard that there is some aspect ratio issues with the 4K monitors and mac devices do you notice any issues. Really want to purchase this monitor but I’m primarily on mac.
Is there a link for the combined laptop & monitor arm table mount as seen in 6:55 ?
I was stolen $949 from Dough. I was stupid. I disregarded all of bad online reviews bc of my credit card transaction. but, The monitor arrived got defective only with 1 month usage. I returned it for warranty and they promised me to 80% refund, I felt so unfair tho. They have not refunded it. No response. My credit card was unable to involve because the purchase occured in 180 days. Do not buy. Read all of online reviews. Search "Dough refund" at google or bing. They are incorporated in China or HonKong to avoid any lawsuit in USA or EU. Their website has no customer service phone-number. Purchase at your risk. When pixel(s) are broken on the display, Do not return it!!! They WON'T refund.
Their monitor are extremely pricy in the market. All other brand monitors with same spec are half prices now at Amazon or Best Buy.
Their prices are 2 years ago prices, competitive at that time. I know how they have been making their monitors. All of You can buil up your own monitor.
They buy display panels from LG in China or other peers. They also buy monitor control boards from Chinese factory(-ies). They find a assembling factory in China. That is it!!! I built my own monitor using i-Mac 5K 27inch monitor with only $490, using DP and HDMI cables.
Dough's qualify control is impossible. That is why they cannot beat LG or Philips.
Once again, I already experienced their monitor. Do not Buy the pricy trash.
If you can want your 4K MATTE monitor to GLOSSY. Search youtube. You can do get your own glossy one from Matte
is it good for video editing with Mac? netter than lgup850?
Ordered mine in a February and I have yet to receive a meaningful update from this company on when I can expect my unit. I have been given the run around multiple times (R/D issues, ‘pass QC checks’, production yielding less than satisfactory results, etc..). Finally said eff it and asked for a refund. Please avoid at all cost.
I ordered a monitor back in December. Still waiting. I would not buy from them.
Has glasses on.
"Unsure why the text looks the same to me."

Company always had great ideas which were crowd sourced, but horrible execution. Many of us have never received the laptops we first funded in 2016, which they used to pay themselves. They are and always will be a scam in my mind
Any recommendations for glossy 4k monitors on Amazon?
Where did you get the little hub with all the dials and buttons etc?
I literally got my Eve Spectrum 4K 144hz today. I ordered it August 2021! I actually has forgotten about it.
Q: What exact cable do you use to maximize the monitor? I have an AMD 6900XT.
Same boat here. It’s a beautiful device, and I’m looking for a quality product for a single cable Mac set up.
You waited a year for a monitor? 💀
is there a 24'' version?
Great content. What’s the name of the outro track?
Could you tell us how long you’ve been waiting for this one?
Do you have just one alien router or are you using the mesh system?
It looks more like mat finished!
Please do not buy this monitor. You will probably never get it, and they will string you along as long as possible if you do ask for a refund. If you do end up with one, there are occasionally serious known issues with the panel that may show up on yours. I've never seen anyone successful in getting service or a replacement done on theirs.
Buyer beware.
is the glossy panel a proper glass panel or a plastic gloss?
There is a DIY. But it's dangerous and avoids the guarantee
Too risky buying this monitor unfortunately. The web is flooded with horror stories of both delayed/forgotten shipments or refunds. I can only imagine the nightmare one would have to go through if it arrived with a dead pixel or dead on arrival. Better off going with a reputable brand knowing that the shipping and after sales service will be of an acceptable standard.
I wish this monitor have a place to connect an optical cable
Its kinda funny Gross Version is pricier when its just without the matte film.
