My sister and I started breeding hybrids quite by accident, but we came to love these beautiful fish! We rescued some "feeder endlers" from out LFS, and I also had fancy guppy pairs. So we didnt think she would look at the tiny little endler twice, but she did and they were all beautiful, with great big fancy tails and multi colored bodies... and the tell tale metallic spots on their body that showed they were part endler. We had many come out looking fancy, and many others that looked like overgrown endlers. Some had swords on their tails and some had long long top fins that hang down like scarves. Breeding hybrids is fun, and of course its only for myself, out of curiosity!! I would never sell these or give them away to anyone that didnt know they were hybrids. All of a sudden Endlers are all the rage, so we bough two "cobra endlers" (of course they wouldnt sell females), but I am really looking forward to see what they add to our mix!
Another great video. Thank you! Not sure if this is the polite thing to do on RUclips, but just watched Pat's Fish Tanks video on enlders which included a guys from the British Live bearer Association, very informative video on how to tell the difference between true endlers and hybrids. Found it compliments your info nicely. Also liked your endler mating behaviour vid. Hoping to start my own project soon! Thanks for all the fish :)
I bought a couple guppies ..2 male 2 female and it wasn't 2 days in quarantine I noticed one female birthed several babies and as time went on the babies grew into blue endlers with swordtails or lyretails (only males of course) quite the variety!! So I think what happened is the female was a endler!!??? Or more likely guppy hybrids.... very cool nonetheless!!
Your lyretail looks awesome. I dig those spear or spadetails too. Now that I'm seeing more endlers or endler hybrids lately I'm starting to like them more than fancy guppies. I guess I like the more streamlined look to them compare to some fancy guppies with big clumsy fins and tails.
The Japanese blue must be a really strong gene. I only had a male and no females were available so I mated him with some virgin descendants of feeder guppies I had and got plenty of blues !
I have a lyre-tail sky blue endler trio. They are my first endlers and one of the females is pregnant I can see how you get hooked on these beautiful fish!
good way to mix up the genetics that people usually keep separate. at least it increases vigor, or if you are trying to create a decent stable line that HASN'T Been done before.
The yellow lyre tails definitely caught my eye! btw you're doing great , I believe all you need is just some time and gain more subs and you'll surpasses me easily :D You some interesting contents in your channel which I will definitely check it out soon later today :)
+Aquatic Haus thank you kindly for watching. I know i need to edit more and also talk a bit more concisely, however editing takes me some time to learn all over (havent done it since 2000 or 2002 in high school) but as it grows and i get some better gear, i hope to do that, interviews and every week or two, still plan on history or trivia heavy videos. Thanks again, and I appreciate that the Lyre tails caught your eye.... im really trying to cross the dumbo fins with lyre tail and yellow for both, but its been tricky....also id like my females to express more color too
Take it easy , one step at a time :) you've gotten the most interesting part to keep viewers to follow which are the stuff you're sharing therefore i believe those way better than just depending on editing .. i mean take a look at dustin fish tank he don have fancy editings but mostly we are just interested to hear what he shares Just do what you gonna do and keep it up mate! and good luck with the crossbreeding ;)
Do whatever you prefer visually. It all works out biologically speaking, however, endlers tend to be rarer and keeping a wild endler (n class or k class) is always nice to see. They stay smaller and have really strong colors without as many color patterns...more or a mosaic of colors on an endler's body
High Temps over 77 leads to more males up to about 84 .... then they stop mating and can die of heat exhaustion generally but with Temps under 74 and they have more female offspring. Kinda cool but they don't know why for sure yet.
Could you do the history of leopard danios next please. I've been doing alot of research on breeding them, I have some that did spawn and produce eggs but they never hatched. During my research I've found a video that says male leopard danios can't actually fertilze the leopard danio roe and that they will not hatch and that they need zebra danios to fertilize their eggs. So should I go get some zebra danios to add or just keep trying. ?
+FAKE NAME sure ill look into it and see what i can dig up. Thanks for the idea. Also all my fish and shrimp are available to patreon supporters only, so if you ever see something you like, that's the only way to stake claim heh. Also video ideas im doing in order of patreon requests, but if you dont see the danio video soon, message me again please, ive been getting a lot of suggestions and have big plans and a large unboxing coming up soon too!
+FAKE NAME from what ive done when i have access to only males or females, is find something close or something super close to plain or wild type, then breed the best fish with the closest partner...then take those babies and select a few to breed with the same first fish ...as long as your first leopard is alive , keep breeding them and over time you'll create a unique line of similar fish. But every fish has different traits that are dominant vs recessive and finding a phenotype punnett square would somewhere online is what id do if i were you...find a female with all recessive traits and breed her with the male and repeat with f1 , then f2 and f3...usually within 4 generations of selecting and breeding you start to see noticible changes. However, your male will likley die of old age if you take up to a year or even like 4 to select his offspring that looks best. Ideally you would find females that he is related to and use those, while using new males that look like him, if you have a source for them. To do it professionally or for show, you're gonna need like 4 or 5 small tanks. So you can track each generation and make sure they dont cross breed with anyone but male leopards. I keep community tanks and seperate all males then only put my chosen males with their own offspring...try to breed multiple dna lines though or inbreeding long term can have health issues
Beautiful fish. I have a question about the last tank? What is that hanging down on the left side? And what is it for? My endler came as a baby fry when I purchased my white cloud minnows. SCORE👍
What kind of fish is the yellow and black striped on min 12:30? its right at the surface of the water, its face is black and it has 3 thick black stripes. Does anyone know?
They're called clown kilifish! One of my all time favorites. I like their former name (rocket kilies) but they are fairly common in the hobby, just easily over-looked. Aquaticarts.com (promo code SECRETHISTORY15 for 15% off order) they often have them if your local stores can't order them :) they're beautiful
the leopard spade tails or the blue double sword/lyre tail ones with yellow? Also, where are you located? I would likely sell either one, however depending on distance (temperature and crazy holiday postage delays, meaning dead fish often times). I would let a couple go....and of the lyre's i would let a group of fry go (10 or something), with odds of the yellow or purple tails being somewhat 70/30 in favor of yellow swords vs purple
I’ve been calling myself a Livebearerlover and I’m so happy I heard you say that

Beautiful guppies!
thank you kindly... also great channel name :)
@@Fishtory hey bro I’m having trouble getting mine to breed the endler a are too tiny to get to the big females what should I do?
The Japanese blue must be a really strong gene. I only had a male and no females were available so I mated him with some virgin descendants of feeder guppies I had and got plenty of blues !
good to hear! Yeah , ...with this line it sure is a deep dominate traight

Totally!
👍👍🔥
@Alex Hello Alex, can you do a video on all your breeder boxes? And give recommendations. This video has some interesting breeder boxes
So most of these are 5 or 6 years old. But I will do a breeding update soon
good way to mix up the genetics that people usually keep separate. at least it increases vigor, or if you are trying to create a decent stable line that HASN'T Been done before.
Yeah I like new mixed lines... they seen so much healthier than most line-bred varieties
Yes all my hybrids seemed much healthier than my fancy guppies of the past!
The yellow lyre tails definitely caught my eye! btw you're doing great , I believe all you need is just some time and gain more subs and you'll surpasses me easily :D You some interesting contents in your channel which I will definitely check it out soon later today :)

+Aquatic Haus haha well that's kind of you to say. Thank you. But we'll see how it goes
Are those Ruby tetras with the guppies?
Yes
good video, I'm getting really into the endlers. my next venture is to do an all male endler nano tank!
+TheFishflipper raaaad
What do you do with a fish that is a mixture of endler and guppy? Should I breed that fish with a guppy or endler?

Do u think guppies will eat planaria worns and scuds
