Some Ukrainians mounted a T-12 100mm howitzer to one of their MTLBs back in August 2022, essentially turning it into an assault gun.

@@Kruegernator123 Yeah that was actually way better that what the russians did here, it has a system for the fast loading of the gun and was probably more efficient when controlling the recoil than a naval gun which is actually kind of different than an old anti tank gun

however, i did try to use a T-72B3 obr. 2016 instead, would have been perfect but sadly the script that hides the tank hull doesnt affect the tracks so i scrapped that idea :(

IRL, the turret would shatter its suspension the moment it fired. Plus you’d only be able to fit maybe ten rounds and primer. Then once it ran out of ammo, they wouldn’t be able to be supplied for a while. On top of the fact you could see this big cast-iron bitch from kilometers away.

I know that war brings forth many innovations, but I really wasn't expecting Russia to just slap a naval gun on a tracked land vehicle.
We truly are living in a most interesting and peculiar time.
Edit: I was going to complain about all the people stating the obvious of tanks that did indeed exist in the past but were phased out for obvious reasons, but now I just want to see how many people will continue to tell me the same thing without realizing someone else said it before them.

@@wannafvck МТЛБ в принципе сейчас не клепают на заводе, а с хранения техники куча, вот и приспосабливают, я не понимаю че все кеки ловят с этого, понятное дело, что это по сути корыто, которое легко в дуршлаг превратить, но как бы задумка в том, чтобы поставить тяжелое орудие, которое сможет само доехать к месту дислокации в окоп, это больше для обороны, а не нападения. Те же корабельные пушки варят достаточно высоко, т.к. сам тягач будет глубоко в окопе
