The UN acts militarily to keep the peace. Most of the places you mentioned are either active warzones or america had troops on the ground, which negates the need for the UN as America is stronger militarily

US soldiers have been sitting in a base or patrolling a useless desert for the last 50 years for example, and don't say Iraq or Afghanistan, US casualties in those are so unbelievably small. These UN peace keepers have seen genoside and constant war, I would not say "they have nothing better to do". (Rwanda genocide for example)
