However, they have incredible endurance of any species. By any species, I mean every species of the galaxy. Terran canines are one of the few species that have better endurance than humans. Let me state it again. Humans did not evolve from a predatory species. But they invented the hunting license.

I remember that when I watched this movie as a kid, while I could understand why the Na’vi wanted their tree, I was constantly bothered by the amount of needles hostility towards the humans, who were trying to cooperate with the Na’vi, yet were constantly attacked. I was also bothered by the fact that according to the movie, literal cavemen with bows and a bunch of animals were somehow better than mechs with 40mm cannons.
The Na'vi are parasitized by the 'hive mind' of the planet and forced to defend it against their will, even if as sentient beings they may think differently-in the end the entire planets ecosystem is literally co-opted to attack the 'intruder organisms' regardless of how many die or starve in the process-I suspect many of the critters who came to 'help' literally ran to near death, suffering exhaustion and dehydration, broken limbs-didn't matter. The Hive Mind Commands It To Be Done. Sully was also infected by this and turned against us. Everything the planet doesn't directly control is seen as a threat, regardless of their actual intentions. The only solution is to nuke em' from orbit.
When the "cavemen" are 10ft tall with carbon fibre bones and arrows the size of ballista bolts then yeah it makes sense they can beat regular humans but don't forget the navi by themselves are defeated and it's only when they have to contend with literally every animal species in the area that the humans lose. I love the mechs as much as anyone but against a horde of those gigantic rhino things in a dense forest yeah they would lose.

I mean, let's be honest. The only reason the aliens won was because James Cameron wanted them to win. In reality, there's no way tribal level technology and some stampede of large animals can beat a military force belonging to a civilization capable of traveling between star systems.

I was young when the first one came out. And I rooted for the Navi. Then my dad said, “son, if you were going to die on a starving earth and the only way to save you was to mine a precious mineral from a distant planet at the expense of a big tree, do you think I wouldn’t do anything and everything to get it?” I did not have an answer at the time. But now I recognize that literally everyone in the movie would be better off with humans and their technology coming out on top.
As another commenter said, it's funny how the Humans offered the Na'vi literally anything they could have wanted in exchange for the right to mine that mineral, and the fact that it was needed to save our own dying planet was probably brought up somewhere in that conversation. Humanity tried everything (including the insanely expensive avatar program) to make peaceful contact with the Na'vi and work out an amicable solution but they STILL attacked first, yet the movie wants us to believe the Na'vi are the morally superior faction. Reminder that every bad thing that happened in the 2 movies is all the protagonist's fault. Humanity wanted to settle things peacefully but the protag decided to betray humanity for some alien blue booty. The military even waited for several months before taking action which is a pretty realistic approach which was surprising from the movie. Instead of doing his job which was negotiations, he went and played around while his people were dying. One of, or possibly the worst protagonist in film ever!

@@senorbaguette2269 If humanity truly wanted them gone and had no care for the preservation of the planet's biosphere (which is already apparent from how they plow through wherever they need), it wouldn't take much more than satellite intelligence and orbital bombardment. I think it's safe to assume they didn't just do that to get Jake in the sequel because the RDA just don't have that equipment, which honestly doesn't make much sense, the least they should have is an array of intelligence assets in orbit. But at the end of the day this is Avatar, it's not known for it's realistic writing.
In the first movie, humanity have tried to make peaceful contact with the Na'vi, we even give them schools, knowledge about our race, and advance technology that could make their lives better. Also, Jake's original mission was to learn more about them and eventually make the Na'vi to cooperate with us as to not have to use a more offensive approach on getting those resources.. but nooo, the Na'vi are too stubborn to- at least, let us get some of that juices. Well if you see a bunch of aliens descending from the sky and takes your resources and also destroying sacred places you’d be pissed as well. Plus jake was still doing what he was supposed to do but humanity lost their patience. In a deleted scene the guy running the whole thing before the commander takes control refused to have them bombard their sacred tree and was against a mass slaughter but the commander has taken full control at this moment thus leading to him unable to do anything.

Ironically enough, the US Constitution and it's rough draft (Articles of Confederacy) were modeled after the Iroquois laws because they had the closest thing pre colonized Native Americans had to a democracy. If you look at maps regarding Native American territory before Europeans arrived, their nations were bigger than most European nations, both in past and present. The Navajo Nation is bigger than many countries in Eastern Europe. The reasons Native American nations aren't well known is because Europeans never officially recognized their sovereignty. Just saw this huge new land and decided to take it and using their 'advanced' weapons and, unintentionally, deadly diseases to kill off Native Americans.

While Cameron might want to present it as some story about corporate greed or whatever, the truth is that unobtainium is the key to human survival as a species. If the aliens of pandora had simply left enough alone after they were evicted from the tree, that would have been that. Humanity could have continued living, they could have relocated to the memory tree grove and rebuilt somewhere else. While having to kill a few dozen of the indigenous species is sad true, when we're talking about the extinction of the entire human species, the choice is clear.

We landed on another planet and began raiding resources, giving them medicine and school. That is not an even trade in any case-scenario. Who are we to force evolution, they would’ve evolved eventually we aren’t gods by any means. They were living a perfectly normal happy life on Pandora however that may be. We technically drew first blood too, killing neytiris older sister Tsu’teys original fiancée. Because she and other Na’vi protested by burning and unmanned bulldozer. They shot her in the doorway in front of everyone and she bled out in tsuteys arms. Killing royalty will always have repercussions, her death was the reason the Na’vi cut all relations. And I already know some of you couch potatoes are gonna say “she deserved it”. Because she burned a bulldozer that wasn’t even manned? We are on THEIR planet, colonization has always been the ugly side of humanity and it shows in this comment section. And no buddy the rda only wanted the mineral for themselves

The only reason you have an electricity and access to technology, is because colonization and aquizisition of resources allowed your country or region to progress forward. Humanity EVOLVES through technology and research, we don't evolve spending millions of years with biology like every other animal does, we skip that waiting time by taking and using every resource possible. We only view colonization as bad because we have the comfort of sustaining ourselves; the moment we can't sustain or develop further? Something that a lot of people miss in this universe: The Na'vi are literally protected by the planet, there are apex predators that have a ethernet cable that makes them able to control them if "the planet" (ewha or whatever) let them. While this is true to a high degree, I pictured it more as the humans had a debuff in this war. Like they are fighting for resources on the planet with those same resources, so they had to use less destructive weapons so that they don’t destroy those. Funny thing is, this is still just the mining security, and they’re still winning.

It’s Honestly crazy how we’ve discovered almost 5,000 exoplanets, landed humans on the moon and rovers on mars, sent probes to the sun and gas giants, yet religious fanatics need their sky daddy to keep their coping system alive.
Even as an 11/12 year old boy I was rooting for the humans and felt that desire how cruel they could be and how awful it was to destroy the Navi’s home and all that it was needed. They initiated hostilities iirc, the RDA exhausted all peaceful routes, and at the end of the day needed those resources to help earth who’s worth outweighs the needs of that tribe.

I only watched it because their guns and aircraft reminded me of halo, but after seen it i realized it was just shit and that awful movie where soldiers with superior guns and armor got beaten by teddy bears with stick and stones. Its accurate to say i havent watched it since.
The story of Avatar was about millions of humans being denied lifesaving treatments derived from the world tree because a furry decided he wanted to clap alien cheeks 💀
Don't forget that in Avatar we hear Sully say, "They _killed_ their mother" when talking to the life tree before the final battle. *Killed. Past tense.* This isn't a case of colonization for profits on Pandora like the French, Spanish, British, or Portuguese empires of the Old World. Whatever mistakes the generations on Earth made before killing the planet, that past tense of "killed" means that humanity is facing extinction and that its home world is dead. _Any action_ is justified when preventing extinction. The movie also glosses over that the humans attempted to use diplomatic channels (education, cross-culture liaisons, equivalent exchange) before resorting to violence, as well as that the humans have the opportunity to wipe out the Navi when they bring down the big tree, but instead use tear gas on the crowd instead of the very visibly-loaded machine guns or incendiary missiles attached to their aircraft - this isn't an attempt at genocide, it's a last-ditch effort to save the species. 100% with the humans, every time, not even ironically. Humanity First.

Yeah in the way of water it’s shown Humanity can build entire cities in under a few days with drone armies. There is quite literally no reason for Humanity to even be here, they completely did away with unobtanium and went with some whale nectar that provides immortality instead. Only issue is that Humanity can create and clone bodies, they can transfer consciousness and replicate memories, even going so far as to read minds. Probably for less money than to hunt and harvest alien whales light years away. There is quite literally no reason for Humanity to be there or to return… Just use the drones to build habitable cities on desolate worlds like Mars or Europa, with this Humanity capable of interstellar travel It’s difficult to believe that we would ever go to planets for resources alone, considering many rare earth minerals exist within our asteroid belt and on our moons. Unless it was some exotic element that provided a means to warp space and traverse the light speed barrier; we would not go there. For one it’s too far away, even at light speed, a trip there and back is almost 20-40 years. By the time you get back home the people you knew, the world you lived on is gone. For two, there is no help. You are it. You are alone. If something goes wrong, help is decades away as shown in this movie. Thirdly, we would not risk war with a primitive alien species no matter the cost. Doing so we would uplift them by thousands of years, the culture shock would make them xenophobic and we’d probably face an interstellar war of our doing. Lastly, in order for Humanity to traverse the distance between solar systems they need to be a type one civilization which means they’ve mastered the energy on their planet, eliminating the need for elements like unobtainium. For them traverse the distance in the time they do, toughly a decade and a half, they are likely a type two civilization which means they’ve harnessed the power of their solar system and or star. Allowing them to build ships capable of traveling near the speed of light. This means there is literally no reason for them to be here.

The company's doing the work but humanity NEEDS unobtanium. Its a room temperature superconductor necessary for creating starships which are going to be used for a mass exodus from earth. By delaying progress by 11 years he potentially killed tens of millions of humans. That's why in the second movie they have much higher end equipment and an actual General with them the military is stepping in to ensure things run smoothly. I remember that when I watched this movie as a kid, while I could understand why the Na’vi wanted their tree, I was constantly bothered by the amount of needles hostility towards the humans, who were trying to cooperate with the Na’vi, yet were constantly attacked. I was also bothered by the fact that according to the movie, literal cavemen with bows and a bunch of animals were somehow better than mechs with 40mm cannons.
The Na'vi are parasitized by the 'hive mind' of the planet and forced to defend it against their will, even if as sentient beings they may think differently-in the end the entire planets ecosystem is literally co-opted to attack the 'intruder organisms' regardless of how many die or starve in the process-I suspect many of the critters who came to 'help' literally ran to near death, suffering exhaustion and dehydration, broken limbs-didn't matter. The Hive Mind Commands It To Be Done.
Sully was also infected by this and turned against us. Everything the planet doesn't directly control is seen as a threat, regardless of their actual intentions. The only solution is to nuke em' from orbit.

While Cameron might want to present it as some story about corporate greed or whatever, the truth is that unobtainium is the key to human survival as a species. If the aliens of pandora had simply left enough alone after they were evicted from the tree, that would have been that. Humanity could have continued living, they could have relocated to the memory tree grove and rebuilt somewhere else. Even as an 11/12 year old boy I was rooting for the humans and felt that desire how cruel they could be and how awful it was to destroy the Navi’s home and all that it was needed. They initiated hostilities iirc, the RDA exhausted all peaceful routes, and at the end of the day needed those resources to help earth who’s worth outweighs the needs of that tribe.

There is quite literally no reason for Humanity to even be here, they completely did away with unobtanium and went with some whale nectar that provides immortality instead. Only issue is that Humanity can create and clone bodies, they can transfer consciousness and replicate memories, even going so far as to read minds. Probably for less money than to hunt and harvest alien whales light years away.
There is quite literally no reason for Humanity to be there or to return… Just use the drones to build habitable cities on desolate worlds like Mars or Europa, with this Humanity capable of interstellar travel It’s difficult to believe that we would ever go to planets for resources alone, considering many rare earth minerals exist within our asteroid belt and on our moons. Unless it was some exotic element that provided a means to warp space and traverse the light speed barrier; we would not go there. For one it’s too far away, even at light speed, a trip there and back is almost 20-40 years. By the time you get back home the people you knew, the world you lived on is gone. For two, there is no help. You are it. You are alone. If something goes wrong, help is decades away as shown in this movie.
Thirdly, we would not risk war with a primitive alien species no matter the cost. Doing so we would uplift them by thousands of years, the culture shock would make them xenophobic and we’d probably face an interstellar war of our doing.
Lastly, in order for Humanity to traverse the distance between solar systems they need to be a type one civilization which means they’ve mastered the energy on their planet, eliminating the need for elements like unobtainium. For them traverse the distance in the time they do, toughly a decade and a half, they are likely a type two civilization which means they’ve harnessed the power of their solar system and or star. Allowing them to build ships capable of traveling near the speed of light. This means there is literally no reason for them to be here.

The company's doing the work but humanity NEEDS unobtanium. Its a room temperature superconductor necessary for creating starships which are going to be used for a mass exodus from earth. By delaying progress by 11 years he potentially killed tens of millions of humans.

When the Na'vi said no, because you know it's their home and they're destroying it, the RDA immediately waged war on the Na'vi. Humanity will go extinct if they keep destroying Earth and sending people to die on Pandora. Also, the Na'vi don't even hate humans, it's just that the RDA are so incredibly greedy and ignorant, they would rather rush the peace treaties and siphon the planet instead of actually talking with them
