    X33 did come on Norwood cars. X33 denotes that it's a RS(Z22)/Style Trim(Z21) Z28. X77 means it's a Z28 without the RS package(Z22)/Style Trim(Z21) . Also Van Nuys cars had no X coding on the cowl trim tag. Van Nuys Z28's are not as easy to identify base on just the trim tag. That's when you need to start looking at part numbers on M22 trans, carb(DZ), block(DZ) to name a few. Of course protect-o-plates, build sheet, purchase receipts, etc become handy in identify authenticity.

    • @danielcate7765
      @danielcate7765 Год назад +3

      Don't mean to be the 69z police but X33 is Z/28 with style trim and X77 is Z/28 without style trim. Rally Sport is it's own option and can be combined with either but not ALL X33's are R/S cars. Same with X77, it's no style trim but could be an RS. At least that's the way I read it on the CRG website. I know I've looked at several X33's over the years with standard front ends.

    • @gw3598
      @gw3598 Год назад

      To answer Shawns question, Z/28 was rhe RPO (regular production order) think COPO designation. The Z/28 moniker was rhe first (and only?) time Chevy's ever marked their cars with the RPO number.

    • @69ssrscamaro4
      @69ssrscamaro4 Год назад +1

      @@danielcate7765 That's correct. Just like I've seen X11 cars that where base cars and SS's with and without RS option but had the style trim equipment. To help identify if it's a true RS you have to look for the wiper motor part number and headlight washer solenoid, the correct grommet location for the vacuum hoses going to the dash headlight vacuum switch, rear backup lights under bumper, solid red tail lights and wiring harnesses. Of course it's easy to add these things to a non RS car and make it one as long as the tag for Norwood is X11(Base or 350 SS), X22(396 SS), X33(Z28). I have yet to find an RS that does not have the X11,X22, or X33 for the Norwood plant on the late type trim tag. The Style Trim features are integrated into the Z22 package.

    I remember driving by a Chevy dealership when I was 17... they had a crapload of Z Camaros in the used car lot. I could have bought (with my 17 yr old funds 🙂) any one of them for under $4000. I preferred split bumper Z's but they always seemed to only have them in this really nasty dark green. Amazing how Z's have survived.

    The 'all-in'. Got to do one of these with Dennis and Richard at a Denny's in Monterey many years ago. They (Dennis and richard) had just sold an original Duesenberg (I think) at Gooding and did well and were in the mood to celebrate. The folks at that Denny's said it was the highest bill ever for a customer. nutty (and very late) night!

    My first car that I purchased was a 69 Z/28. It was used . It was an early build car. Built in October of 68. It didnt have the chrome slats on the quarter panel. I did have the optional gage package. It did not have the ZL2 hood . But it did have the chambered exhaust. It did not have the spoilers so I installed them. I bought it in late summer of 69.

    YES! A 1969 RS/Z28. Silver with black stripes. 4-wheel disc brakes. Factory exhaust headers. Console with gauges and deluxe houndstooth interior. Factory 8-track player. Trunk mounted traction fluid dispensers. Cowl induction hood and air cleaner. Did I forget anything?
    The only cars I would rate higher than this would be a copo 427, ZL1 or a yenko 427. I would call a tie between the Z28 and an SS 396 with the L89 option.

    William Bill... I'm 61 and I've put A1 on my Philly cheese steaks as long as I can remember. If I make them on the flat top here at the house I'll mix it in while it's cooking and it caramelizes which really puts it over the top. I also put it on my pot roast. 😉
