    Building in an "HM-2" setting makes a lot of sense sense there is a huge call for that sound in certain metal genres. It's just nice that it's not all the pedal does.
    I actually think you can do a lot more with an, HM-2 than what it gets used for.

    “Chainsaw territory” is the sound of resonance occurring, much like when you turn the resonance knob on a synth filter all the way up. You’re hear it begin to self-oscillate and produce a tone. I think the specific “chainsaw” thing is because it’s such a high resonant frequency, and it’s also being clipped into a waveform with it’s own harmonics that are likely to be dissonant, since the resonance of the device is dependent on the filter circuits cutoff frequency.

    Got my Eras yesterday and it is excellent. But as Rabea mentioned it is flubby with high output humbuckers. So I tried a SD-1 in front of it. While it solved the flubbiness it introduces a not so nice mid hump as expected. So I turned the SD-1 off again and added a very steep low cut filter at 50 Hertz to get rid of all the sub bass by simply using the EQ in the OX Box by adding a Butterworth-3 low cut. And all of a sudden it sounds phenomenal, brutal and tight. I guess it has a lot of sub bass for the bass players which needs to be filtered out for guitars. In a perfect world the pedal would have this built in as a switch.

    The chainsaw sound is one of the components (cannot remember if it's the resistors or diodes) being overloaded with voltage. Lots of pedals have a "bias" knob that can be used to mitigate or enhance this effect

    • @arbrvta
      @arbrvta 2 года назад +1

      Interesting hahaha. I mean I definitely didn’t get that impression with this pedal. Plugging a humbucker in, just felt woolly and non defined. For me this is absolutely a single coil high gain pedal.
      To be fair I feel like most pedal builders have a hard time getting heavy or proper metal and their sub genre tones.
      From my understanding it’s very difficult to do without getting lots of noise and feedback.
      But I can’t think of many pedals that produce a high gain tone for metal genres that I would choose to use over an amp.
      Any suggestions welcome!

      I’m not Rabea. I’m not sure he can say but I can. The abasi for me a 6 string player. I bought it twice and sold it twice. It may be your thing. I just didn’t like it. It has more gain than the walrus stuff except this pedal rabea’s doing now. Then it’s just what you prefer. Idk man I’d pick a tidally efferent ideal myself. I’m a pedal addict and it’s very bad. You want high gain and tight go with rev. They were not fit me. I don’t like that stiff, tight feel if you want a nice distortion pedal similar to the abasi how about the Wampler Dracarys. There’s tons of pedals. I guess it can be overwhelming. Try where u can return if possible.

    Why does it seem laborious moving dials on a pedal nowadays....oh. Because. We don't have to. 🤣

    If you do more product promotion than those actually interesting videos, you were caught into that nasty bane where there is no way out. Good luck.
