Hey Jason. Excellent vid. I like the name demon shriek. I used to call it the Tipton. Your name sounds cooler. Quick question, although it might be the topic for another vid entirely. (Or it may just be a stupid question!). You mentioned several times playing off the cuff and not remembering what you played. I'm just really beginning to solo and record. I usually know how I want it to start and how I want it to end. But when I'm recording, I always play by feel. Then once I'm done, I'm thinking, "I could never reproduce that again if I had to." So. 1. Do you lay out the framework or outline of a solo? 2. Do you tab them or write them out as you work through it? 3. When reproducing the solo live are you going as close to note-for-note as possible or do you just go by the outline? Sorry for the long comment/questions. Great stuff as always. Thanks.
Dude, there are certainly no stupid questions here! The one thing I can tell is is don't overthink the process. I don't write any tabs or anything. I just lay down a riff to a drum beat and start going with that. As far as reproducing solos live...eh, I rarely play the exact same thing live! Some are sticklers for absolutism in that regard, but always pull it off a little different each time, yet still keeping the main melodies. I also have a series for recording here: ruclips.net/p/PLUj6Esz5qJKLcp3iyMeKzau10zIxeG58M
Hi. Interesting vid (well done). I tend to play methods 1, 2 & 3. What I do find hard, thats playing other peoples music. Can you please offer a few tips on how to do better with that? I normally play a chord progression in a Metal or Blues style into a looper then play over that.
The downfall of learning other people’s music is that many bands use different tunings so that really puts a damper on things unless you have one specific band that you really want to learn from.
Thanks. It’s just weird, because I was an advanced drummer and I have all these rhythms on my head, and when I try and simply do 16th notes on guitar it sounds soooo lame hah.

My issue is getting these tones on my Pod Go ????
I'm not sure what I was using in this video (probably BIAS FX plugin). But I'm using Blackstar gear these day (here are my latest tone settings): ruclips.net/video/0makwiJmmGY/видео.html
17:41 You went straight into the opening riff of Leather Rebel by Judas Priest without knowing it !
Oh man, I didn't even realize that but I LOVE that song and the entire Painkiller album!
@@jasonstallworth Same here man, I think the guitar work on that whole album is absolutely superb, especially Glenn's solo in All Guns Blazing. Keep up the good work Jason, greetings from Colombia!

I like number 3, 4 and 7 and they look not that hard to play. Maybe I'll give it a try...

When the boogeyman goes to bed, he checks his closet for Jason Stallworth
Lol, that's the best one yet!
Wasted Years really isn’t played that fast it’s actually rather slow. Kind of a difficult speed actually..
Yeah, it's sometimes tougher to play slower licks! Also, this was just an example of the technique/style, not the actual Maiden song.
It's very real that individually has thier own uniqueness
Yes I strongly encourage folks to focus on developing their own style and sound.
Greatlesson but you have way too many commercials in your video. So many to a point where its just annoying to watch
I think I know how to fix that (there will be only 1-2 instead of several). I believe since this is a longer video, RUclips by default throws in more ad breaks
I am afraid of your biceps...
lol
