Hi! Just discovered your channel and been catching up. Until recently, I had never attempted doing any rust repair, fabrication, or any bodywork at all. I’m 67, retired, and several years ago I was gifted a 1971 vw squareback that had sat outside in tall grass for a few years. Needless to say, it needs some tlc. Watching your techniques has been very helpful indeed. I’m accomplishing my goals with a minimum of tools and a small mig welder and starting to enjoy the task. Thanks!
More stunningly good fabrications and so satisfying the way you worked out the angle for the transmission tunnel lip. The rolled edge on the inside was beautifully done. Another great episode. Thank you Tony.
With the tools you got you do some master level welding! Makes me eager to see what you can do with an engine when you start in on that! I'm really enjoying this Crusty build. Thanks for sharing this project with us.
I love how this came out. Your tips are always something I would never think of doing, but are always great. I learn so much from watching your videos. Thanks.
She’s gonna be a fine solid rocket once she’s done Tony… You certainly are putting forth the effort and the attention to detail… I eagerly await her completion..
Let's see anyone do bead rolling like that with a hand-held bead roller. Your modifications of the bead roller make it possible to do jobs with it that you couldn't do with it how it was originally. Genius modifications.
The way that you built the lip on the firewall, it's perfect to use 1/4 turn Dzuz fasteners to install the hum. That would make accessing the transmission very easy and fast. That would make anything under the bump easy to access.
I understands every word he says… But that’s probably because i was born and raised maybe 20 miles from where he is now….don’t know his exact location so that’s a rough estimate..
I worked with a man more than fifty years ago from the south east corner of Ireland, county Waterford to be exact, and he used the exact same expressions as Fitzee. A lot of people from the south east of Ireland settled in New Found Land many years ago, and the accent, and expressions survived down the years. Tony is a genius at building cars, and is generous at sharing his knowledge.
Strange. Im from Norway, and I understand everything he says. But I do agree with everything else you wrote. Everything but Those medieval mesurements that is.
Hi Tony. Nice job on the firewall! Many years ago, I tried to repair a transmission tunnel that a prior owner had destroyed. It came out ok but not great. It looked better with carpeting! Wish I would have had this video to refer to back then!
cant thank you enough for the videos you are making, I never touched a welder before, but your videos gave me the confidence to go ahead and try to fix the rust holes in my car, even though I am using fluxcore wire, welding outside, and don't have any special tools, your videos had huge amounts of tricks and tips that I was able to use, still my welds are not looking as good as yours but I can see a slow progress and improvement
Tony...sure appreciate all of your fabrication and insight...love the "cut and butt". could've bent an angled piece and shrunk the one edge and spot welded you tunnel flange on?!? look forward to your knowledge and approach to problems on each video release. please keep up all the Hard Work and Great Content...Please finish Wendy's Mustang. (we know it is outside the parameters of your channel content...But It Is For Wendy!!! after-all!) very best to you, Wendy, and any friends and family. sud'd, always like, and occasionally comment. walt+mrs.
Great work as always fitzee finally caught up on all enjoyed tips the brake pedal assembly and master cylinder also steering colume section on firewall all looks 💯....🙂👍🙏
NIce clean tidy fabricated firewall the only way to do it, Tony, you did a fine Job! bud. looks fantastic nice and solid ...I bet that's more solid thats and much safer than the original car. excluding the roll bar of course. Believe me I understand the frustration with grinding I've had my days of hating grinding, I was a welder fitter for most of my life, I done my fair share of it, but once you do it, enough, you learn to accept it, and you just learn to bear it, having that kind of attitude than it's not that bad of a chore after all.
I ruined a perfectly good shirt with a hole burned in by grinding sparks too. I was glad no one was watching when it happened because I was like a madman beating out the fire. I always wear my welding apron now. Only 7 hours, huh? I'd say altogether about 24 or more with the fitting and everything else that came before this episode. Looks good and will look much better when you actually drive it. *Keep 'em coming, I need a distraction/break from the politics and haven't missed an episode yet.*
Hi Tony, you really make Canadians proud. I would like to ask, how's the new welder doing. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you think. I see you are still using as your primary welder. Are there any discount codes or even bonuses for you if we mention that you recommend it to us? And "I do stick around" for every episode you post. Love it. You are a true master.
That firewall came out great. Love the beads. Your tips are great. Do you think that maybe the fuel and brake lines should be installed first before the floors so you have access? In any case, this is one heck of a build.
I will be just where the spot welds are too on this it's harder to do with the spot welder. Also the two different thickness of metal at the cowl would been a nightmare
Bit tricky to do the fire wall with the spot welders specially on the cowl. It 18 gage going to 22. Mightbe trouble. I'll be using the spot welder soon tho
Tony, I have to admit that I’m in awe of your abilities and how you’re able to visualize what you want to do. Here’s a question that I doubt that you’ve been asked. How far do you live from Paradise Massachusetts?
The reason I asked is if you’ve ever watched Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone the movies were supposed to have been made in Lunenberg Nova Scotia. I just thought that you might have watched one of the movies. In the movie the fictional town was called Paradise.
@@fitzeesfabrications will do he loves your show he is now pestering to do a welding and metal fab course . Cause he wants to be like you wen he gets older and build cars . Im looking into it for him .
@@fitzeesfabrications Good point. I forgot that the Corolla was made from tissue paper. Better keep the spot welder for older vehicles that are made from steel.
That was awesome Tony. My question is first are the spot welds able to keep exhaust fumes out of the car? Second will you be able to get the body off the car? 😊
I don't know what the rules are for the drag strip in Newfoundland or Nova Scotia. I was wondering if you thought about putting tow loops on the frame rails that can accept a 2" tow hook. Certain classes in NHRA require this. I do not know which ones as I do not think it applies to my car and I went no farther with the rules for other classes.

Gee, building a car out of steel shelving. You're my kinda guy Fitzee!

It was never a Corolla like Crusty, but this sure makes me really miss my '78!
Looking forward to seeing this Tony.. Thanks for the upload and keeping me educated and entertained. Cheers

Nice job Fitzee, Crusty is looking mighty fine. Have a great day. 👍
It's always good to see your videos Tony ! 👍😁 Thanks for sharing !
Tips are always good. I learn little things every episode.
That was some great engineering . I liked the doubling up on the inner slieve with the slug welds. Thanks for the tips .

I really like watching you do your magic
One of those jobs that’s just nice to have done! Floor pans and trans tunnel should be a treat, give the bead roller a work out 👍

Awesome to see crusty’s firewall all buttoned up 😊
Main star of this one has to be that cool bead roller. You never let us down Tony, Joe
All the videos are good, but your metal working is the best!
Top notch work Tony, that bead roll added a bunch of strength for sure.😊
Fantastic job tony. All them Angeles and cuting welding and grinding. Your a true master in the fabrication world. Great job
No doubt you always do the best job possible, even when the shop inspector is on holidays and isn't there to check your work.
Very nice work and as always great watching and learning new ideas and tips.
If patience was money you'd be a millionaire...great video...thanks...

Using your tips/tricks and work method the bodywork on my old 60's Rover is coming along nicely 👍👍. many thanks
I love it Tony! Without those little custom touches, it’d just be another old Corolla.
Another fantastic episode!!!👌👌👌
Thoroughly enjoyed it and the tips were absolutely amazing as usual!!

Wow that was a lot of work. Your amazing and make it so simple. Just love the quality of your work and can't wait for more.
Fire wall turned out fantastic. The tips were definitely good
Awesome work Fitzee. Inspiring and helpful. Thank you for sharing...from South AFRICA
Hi Tony, that fits perfectly. And it will be strong as well. Like how Crusty is coming along.

I use to plug weld but eventually purchase a spot welder it's a real time saver

Find it best to install floors first it will give the lines something to mount to under the car in certain places
Plz don't hammer my screw driver son! lol Excellent work man!
Got to get some of that Hole-B-Gone.
You could put some hole-be-gone in your store and get rich. Oh, if it would work on rust holes...
That's some smooth work there Tony, factories will be copying you in a few years,
Soon we be having plastic cars and electric motors...10 years from now fabricators will be legends
Was wondering why you didn't use your spotwelder. I enjoyed the show. Thanks.
I will be just where the spot welds are too on this it's harder to do with the spot welder. Also the two different thickness of metal at the cowl would been a nightmare
WOW , just WOW !
I was hoping to see you use your spot welder on the firewall to the upper dash. Sure would save some grinding. Maybe next time.
Bit tricky to do the fire wall with the spot welders specially on the cowl. It 18 gage going to 22. Mightbe trouble. I'll be using the spot welder soon tho
Beautiful!
Better than factory fitze. Imagine if all cars were made of thicker gauge metal
Fitzee I’m surprised that I don’t see you using weldable primer between your seams. Is there a reason why?
I had trouble with years ago and it very expensive here
The tips are good!
Tony, I have to admit that I’m in awe of your abilities and how you’re able to visualize what you want to do. Here’s a question that I doubt that you’ve been asked. How far do you live from Paradise Massachusetts?

My thirteen yr old son just made a valid point . Did you check your bonnet hinge fits before you welded in that firewall
Yes its a small hing. Tell him he has a good eye for detail.

A little ventilation on those bibs!
I thought you would have used your spot welder to do across that front section where you had good access to be able to use it.
That 24 gage factor steel would been a real pain with the spot welder
@@fitzeesfabrications Good point. I forgot that the Corolla was made from tissue paper. Better keep the spot welder for older vehicles that are made from steel.
That was awesome Tony. My question is first are the spot welds able to keep exhaust fumes out of the car? Second will you be able to get the body off the car? 😊
All welds will be seam sealed. And no. Never wanted it to come off.
Your overall hole, how did that happen? Safety first guy!
Those are some cool bead rolls did you see that on a different car or just come up with it on the fly
I been thinking about bead for awhile. The design I just came up with on the fly

No rules up here like that.
Very nice work !!! I am impressed !!! The used white sheet metal is from where ???
Shelving Fitzee has a stack of them from many years gone by...
Looks to be large cabinets of some sort. Not sure on where they came from.
Yet another small step towards completion. Hopefully Crusty will be finished before the end of the year.
What gauge is the sheet metal in the firewall. Thanks. Looks great.
18 gage
@@fitzeesfabrications Thanks, the tips were good.
