usually humour in these things isnt that funny but still used, so like in the test today i could’ve suggested that we just run everywhere instead of using cars or public transport before arguing for public transport for example, so like a wild suggestion that isn’t meant to be taken very seriously
Hello mate, thank you very much english was always a very weak point for me but with the help of your videos I’m hoping I achieve a 6 thank you very much
Hello Sir, As we are the new year 11 now can we have a video that can tell us how to revise for English? Also the tips and insights you may suggest us to start preparing from now.
The test was about trains today it wasn't bad but I've only wrote one thing wrong will that me make me loose alot of marks ? Q5 five was so good i used alot of good vocabulary and it was a speech about how cars are convenient and comfortable however we need to use buses or trains... Thank you mr salles for being the best English teacher 💫
Hiya Mr Salles, I have a quick question. I was reading the examiner's reports and was confused by what they meant on talking about 'like with like' for question 4. Could you please elaborate? Does is mean comparing how both sources are similar, but for different purposes? This is from the 2019 report: In terms of the comparative element to the task, there was more evidence of students comparing ‘like with like’. Students at level 2 might typically compare how Fogle was scared by the boat capsizing whereas Hudson was uncertain about the safety of the ship. Fear of the ocean and concerns about safety are very different feelings, and they would be rewarded as an attempt to compare. However, comparing how both writers responded with terror to the power of the sea, or how they viewed the relative safety of their boats would be a comparison of ‘like with like’ and, when explained clearly, would warrant a mark in level 3. This ability to identify like with like is key to success in question 4, but is also central to the synthesis required in question 2, and is therefore a valuable teaching focus.
Hey mr salles I’ve just done my lang paper 2 and Q5 was a speech. I thought it went well as I used direct speech throughout the entire answer. but at the end I didn’t say “thank you for listening” or “any questions?” Do you think I will be marked down
Sir, I need your help. My teacher has suggested that for question 5, we have a first paragraph in a storyish form in which we tell the story of someone experiencing an issue with the topic of the question and that in the following two paragraphs, we dive into the issue in the normal persuasive writing form and explain how the issue could be solved. Finally, she suggested that in the last paragraph, we use the story form again, and put the focus back on the character in the story who is struggling with the given issue. Is this a valid structure, or would it lose me marks?
She is trying to give a method which will help students who aren’t sure how to write. Personally I feel it is not persuasive enough to return to the anecdote at the end.
The fact ur talking about dominance spanking and practicing with MADFATHERSCROCH makes me feel like this is a geography lesson with the amount of sus word choices... *._.*
Mr Salles I did English language paper 2 and only had time for one q4 comparison. Am I limited at any marks and what do you think I'll get. The comparisons not that good or detailed , I just listed the method each and the perspective each.
Look at the mark scheme. The exam and I will look at your answer and decide whether it is “limited” or “sam”. Based on what you have written, you will have a good idea about which Mark range will apply to your answer. You might even decide it is better than these two options, and move it into the next category.
can someone mark this? Question: “Holidays don’t need to be far away and expensive they just need to give people a break from everyday life and a chance to relax.” Write an article for a magazine in which you explain your point of view on this statement. Answer: Budget Breaks: Finding Serenity in Simple Staycations Do you ever feel fatigued and drained by the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Are you under the impression that you need to spend a fortune on exotic holidays to find relaxation? Think again! Imagine the serene atmosphere of a tranquil, harmonious woodland retreat just a stone's throw from your own home. There, the sun casts its golden rays through the trees, painting a tapestry of dappled light on the forest floor - a perfect getaway that doesn't break the bank. The atrocious misconception that only far-flung, expensive vacations can provide a respite from daily stress is one that needs to be debunked. When will we truly appreciate the beauty in our own backyards? We will, once we realize that relaxation is just around the corner. To embark on this journey of rediscovery, all it takes is a shift in perspective - and perhaps a map of local attractions. You might probably be under the impression that going on holiday is the only way to take a break from everyday life and a chance to relax; however, according to a recent survey carried by the renowned BBC, an astonishing 75% of people reported feeling jubilant and euphoric after a simple, affordable staycation. By exploring local parks, visiting nearby museums, or simply taking a leisurely stroll in nature, you can embrace the joys of a rejuvenating break without the hefty price tag. So why not give it a try? You might just be pleasantly surprised by the hidden gems waiting to be unearthed in your own neighborhood! Time is precious. In fact, local breaks can be even more luscious and appetising than their expensive counterparts. Embrace the dazzling beauty of a nearby beach, where the crashing waves create a frosty symphony of sound. As the saying goes, sometimes the most exceptional things in life are right under our noses! Seize the day! Dr. Emma Thompson, a renowned travel psychologist, asserts that the key to a fulfilling holiday lies not in the destination, but in our ability to unwind and detach from our daily routines. By seeking solace in our local surroundings, we can find the gallant escape we so desperately yearn for - so, go ahead and plan that weekend getaway to a nearby bed and breakfast, or indulge in a cozy stay-at-home movie night with loved ones. Ultimately, it's imperative that we challenge the malevolent myth that only extravagant, faraway vacations can provide us with the relaxation we crave. The truth is, happiness and serenity can be found in the simplest of staycations, as long as we are willing to open our eyes and embrace the beauty that surrounds us. To quote the famous poet William Blake, "To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower". So why wait? Start planning your next budget break today and discover the bliss that lies just beyond your doorstep!
Mr salles I'm really not good at english language . This is because I moved from Italy and started british high school halfway through year 10 ; now I'm about to sit my english language paper 2 and I'm kind of worried and nervous. English language paper 1 went alright but I really want to smash this paper, any tips that'd help me??!
The question was ‘write a speech’ but I misread it as ‘write a letter for a speech’. I started with ‘dear council’ and ended with ‘yours sincerely’ but everything else matched a speech. Will I lose marks?

Thankyou mr salles you are a great teacher
How could you add humour to a letter? or a Speech?
usually humour in these things isnt that funny but still used, so like in the test today i could’ve suggested that we just run everywhere instead of using cars or public transport before arguing for public transport for example, so like a wild suggestion that isn’t meant to be taken very seriously
Thank so much sir! Helped me throughout
only an hour to go. you helped me go from a 5 to an 8, tysm mr salles
Good luck
Hello mate, thank you very much english was always a very weak point for me but with the help of your videos I’m hoping I achieve a 6 thank you very much

This is from the 2019 report:
In terms of the comparative element to the task, there was more evidence of students comparing
‘like with like’. Students at level 2 might typically compare how Fogle was scared by the boat
capsizing whereas Hudson was uncertain about the safety of the ship. Fear of the ocean and
concerns about safety are very different feelings, and they would be rewarded as an attempt to
compare. However, comparing how both writers responded with terror to the power of the sea, or
how they viewed the relative safety of their boats would be a comparison of ‘like with like’ and,
when explained clearly, would warrant a mark in level 3. This ability to identify like with like is key
to success in question 4, but is also central to the synthesis required in question 2, and is therefore
a valuable teaching focus.
thank you sm for this video!
are you going to do a prediction like you did for paper 1?
Hey mr salles I’ve just done my lang paper 2 and Q5 was a speech. I thought it went well as I used direct speech throughout the entire answer. but at the end I didn’t say “thank you for listening” or “any questions?” Do you think I will be marked down
No, those two phrases are totally unnecessary. You will be fine.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish cool thank you
Sir, I need your help.
Thank you!
Can I use those sentences in my exam? Just for conforming
Are headings/titles required for newspaper articles?
No
Mr salles I will be done with English today, but I find your videos very entertaining. Would you ever consider doing another type of video?
I would, but what do you have in mind?
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish an introduction to a level English lit?
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish if you made videos about your hobbys, they would probably be very fun to watch!
English language paper 2 tomorrow thank you for everything👍🗣

Question:
“Holidays don’t need to be far away and expensive they just need to give people a break from everyday life and a chance to relax.”
Write an article for a magazine in which you explain your point of view on this statement.
Answer:
Budget Breaks: Finding Serenity in Simple Staycations
Do you ever feel fatigued and drained by the hustle and bustle of everyday life?
Yes, this is fantastic- well done!

THIS IS BRILLIANT I LOVE YOU HAHA 😭❤️

Congarats everyone, we were dont with english for the rest of our lives (unless u took english alevel- then i wish u sanity)
Thank you sir
Does the pen u use matter as long as it’s black ink ?
i know it's too late, but ball point is the way to go, gel pens usually dont scan so well, be smudged or can be erased by some scanning machines.
Cotswold wildlife park? Where are you from man if u don’t mind me asking I think I’m near
Swindon, jewel of the M4
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish decent boss kinda close I’m oxford so not too far
Also wish me luck for English tmr ur videos have clarified what I needed to know
The question was ‘write a speech’ but I misread it as ‘write a letter for a speech’. I started with ‘dear council’ and ended with ‘yours sincerely’ but everything else matched a speech. Will I lose marks?
I don’t think so.
maybe for the 'yours sincerely' part if the examiners being harsh- but i bet you'll smash it nonetheless
Damn this is really helpful
