There's a lot of that with these review videos. He's obviously not a regular player. The game has grown and evolved so much that there's a ton of outdated info online and these reviewers don't really take the time to sort though it all.
My experience with the game is getting an intro skip bug right at first minute... and the 'fix'? Had to look for a file to delete >.> yea REALLY good game.
DLCs should have been addressed. Total DLC cost: 173€ or 123€ on steam sale. Which are needed or worth it etc.? Do you really want to get hooked on a game that asks for 120/170€ ?
Sigh, maybe if people learn to read, the problem would be fixed. 90% of dlc are just extra cosmetic and different outpost spots (a 0 threat map Where you just build) Only styx and Prometheus dlc are Worth getting (new maps)
@@Name-bb8wo New Frontiers is 29,99€and Styx is 19,50€. I like New Frontiers more as it gives us more alien-looking (not Xenomorphs but just more alien than wolves and bears) creatures and environments. Styx and base map has too Earth-like creatures, which for me is a bit immersion breaking.

Fortunately, you can use the 3rd party mod manager and run in creative mode (and lot more) and it's still work, it's a lot less grindy..yet, I am glad I played through the first three times on Normal difficulty and no cheats. Now I just try different ways of doing things I want to do, like building, farming, exotics gathering rather than spending most of the time grinding (as much), really enjoying it nowadays. It's worth it. Just buy it over time, watch for the sales. Because Olympus will take up a lot of time..no need to rush.. Lots of content in the original game. It'll get you ready for Styx...

Yes It is worth playing in 2024! There's regular updates each friday, which are huge updates almost every time, and the game has TONS UPON TONS of content and freedom of things you can do. I got 1,500 hours in that game and I'm still enjoying it. The only thing that I don't like about the game are the DLCs, because they are rather expensive and theres a lot of them. I'd still recommend to buy all of them. My recommended playstyle is having an Open World game where you do all your building and such, and then from time to time, you do some of the missions on other worlds. Thats how I play it for ages now and I'm constantly having fun switching between worlds and doing different missions.
@@zachburskey8868 dude your clearly doing something wrong because I have 1400 hours in the game and never once had a issue with the equipment from the space station never once and I one every item so a bunch of each item and yet I call for supplies whenever it's needed
Icurus is the best survival game I know of and there is open world where you can stay forever and even do the missions in that open world this game does have weekly updates it's far better then 90 percent of triple a games
Propably should point out the price too, i just checked it in steam and with all the dlc's combined the dam thing is 140€ Sure the base game is 34€ which is fair, but if you want to acces the full game, better fork out 140€
Probably you should've at least checked what those DLCs are, as 80% are cosmetics and stuff like pets that does not impact the gameplay at all. The only content that does is in the Styx and Prometheus DLCs, which add new maps with a lot more alien look to everything. I got a copy of the base game for myself and my wife + 1x both of these DLCs for just €60 on sale, which is more than fair. You _do_ know that only the host needs to have DLC maps, right? :)
My only problem coming in from Sons of the Forest is that in Icarus I feel like the enemies are a bit underwhelming. I was expecting to see hostile alien lifeforms but all I see are just wildlifes. I see in the other videos that there is a worm boss so we need more of that.
You need to play the Promethius map.Its more Alien”. With more exotic animals. Also starting for on Styx Low level on hard…:good luck lol😂you wil get smacked around for many many hours
@@manuelalvarado8740 No such issue with being smacked around since I can finish Sl1 and BL4 runs no issues. My main gripe with the game is that it feels so underbaked might need more years for it to be worth playing. Still enjoying Sons of the Forest and I'm thinking of buying Greenhell next. This game might be worth checking out after 2-3 years.
I wanted to get the game but when I looked today at the price for the game plus all the DLC's it was horrendous. the price should have been a subject in any honest review. Is this a review done in exchange for a free 'complete edition Key"?
Only the starting world is Earth-like, and the lore bits explain why as you progress through the missions. The more alien-looking worlds are available with the two DLCs: Styx and Prometheus, although those also present a much bigger challenge due to more extreme weather and fauna
Did you capture your gameplay in 1080p and upload it in 4k thinking it would look as good as 4k? because this is by far the worst looking footage of 4k I've seen to date, its far to blurry and pixelated to be actual 4k which also makes the other resolution options on youtube look worse. so please for the love of god upload in what ever resolution you capture in.
Game looks nice. I installed it during a free weekend and tried it out. I started a new solo game and landed on one of 4-5 pre-selected landing locations as a new player. As soon as I stepped out of my pod, I took my first 2 or three steps, and a level 72 wolf ran over and killed me right next to my pod. I swiftly shut down the game and uninstalled it.
why do you play survival games then? geezus the fact that you expect to be dominant hour one shows the kind of player you are. stick to fortnite. dont play survival games. happens in rust, dayz, ark, scum, the forest, and should i go on?
@edfgamer7351 That's wild. Ark, Icarus, and Nightingale are the only ones I can think of that I haven't played in this genre. The spawn point pre-selected by the game for a new player shouldn't be camped by enemies.
@ProxCQ But yet it happens in most survival games using procedural generation. Hence why it's called procedural generation: It generates in real time the necessary elements as needed which means enemies tend to spawn VERY close to you right away. 7 days to die fixed theirs by forcing no zombies able to spawn for the first I believe 30 mins or 1 hour of in game time so you can't be spawn killed as well as a buffer safe zone upon spawning for a few seconds that wipes the surrounding enemies.
@edfgamer7351 Many games are procedurally generated. They can still set controls on this. It isn't rocket science. No game should have a level 72 wolf walk up to the spawn point of a lvl 1 new player. I stepped out of the pod and opened my menu to check the crafting list to see what the skill tree looked like. I must have been less than two feet away from the pod door. The game hadn't even told me how to fight yet(sure, I am a gamer, I can figure it out, but that's besides the point). I consider that a bad design.
Ive been trying it during the free weekend and the graphics are kinda blurry, not like low resolution but like just not very sharp or detailed. Tried changing all the settings i cant tell if its just the game or what.
I love this game a lot I put a lot of hours in it. and the devs are awesome with updates. they work really hard on it and listen to the community. I recommend it. the crafting and building are amazing. 👍
I am 104 hours in, what had me was starving to death! I did not know you could consume the blue stuff, oxide, after that the game opened up! What i would suggest is to on easy mode, on open world, in storms find a big rock and make a tunnel you will survive, the forest biom is best for new players, do not make thatch nothing, thunder storms well lightning means fire and a swiftt death, bows and arrows rock, crouch down and hunt you will get easy kills, some lakes have parranahs so do not go skinny dipping, while some lakes also have caves you can swim through for treasures the otherside and sometimes exotics, if you stay in a cave to long you get cave sickness, but later on you can make a device called a dehumidifer and you do not get sick, also make bangages asap, wolves and bores and BEARS in the Riverland - Best of Luck! its sad the devs did all this work to make this incredibly indepth survival game but filled it with dated, awful UI HUD elements that break immersion and make this a game i wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole. the king of survival sim realism is DayZ by a longshot. the PvE survival (cuts, diseases, nutrition, etc.) is the most indepth youll find by a longshot, however the PvE combat is its weakest point. Icarus could have been that PvE co-op survival sim everyone wanted but they opted for dated progression, menus/huds. its an eyesore to look at.
