Depends how a normal type would do in the meta. Its got a legendary statline, 10th highest total in the game, and with a base speed of 100 it'd be fast enough to do some things. Its defence is pretty bad though.

Mostly an optimization choice and it bypasses the “Species Clause”, one species per team. Population Bomb imo is the only reason it should be banned because Gigas and Slaking have gone without being banned all this time until this generation. Like the Poison Heal Facade tech was no secret. To be honest I think it’s the only mon if you include Population Bomb that could be an S tier pick, which is almost always is uncontested by Imposter Chansey.
Not really. Population Bomb Slaking (usually running Magic Guard) had a problem of either running Coil and lacking speed (crucially missing Arceus speed who commonly runs Fur Coat + Strength Sap, which means you usually can't beat it if you don't outspeed), or running Victory Dance / Tidy Up and run into a power issue since you can't run Life Orb and have to run Wide Lens if you don't want to gamble. You know what fixes both of these problems??? Guts. Guts + Facade is as powerful if not more than Life Orb Population Bomb (i can't remember it's been a long while and i cba to calc), it has perfect accuracy unlike Fraudpulation Bomb, and it has way less of an Imposter issue due to Imposter dealing far less damage without Guts + Facade boost. Also a bonus of massive PP pool which outstalls Strength Sap. When I played during the time Slaking was legal I always breath a huge sigh of relief when I saw my opponent's Slaking didn't get burned on switch in because that means it's gonna be easy as hell to deal with. When it did however... dear god.

I once had a funny little fumble where I was playing through Emerald, and I tried to use Gerson my Grovyle to cheese Slaking with Dig. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that Gerson would need to be faster than Slaking and uh... yeah I'll give you three guesses how that went.

Max attack Slacking with Huge Power and Choice Band has 1380 Attack from the get go. That is just slighty below the attack stat of a Max attack Belly drum snorlax. AND STAB extreme speed? Ouch
In gen 10 we'll get the item Coffed which, when equipped, removes the effects of both Truant and Slow Start. But Slaking and Regigigas won't be programmed into the game.

You don't even need hacks to get Truant off of Slaking. Entrainment can replace it,it can be Skill Swapped away,can be replaced by Mummy or Wandering Spirit or it can be supressed by Neutralizing Gas.
Ok, now try to do that without the opponent interrupting you in some regard. Why spend a turn or more activating a powerful pokemon when you can just use a pokemon that is already powerful without the song and dance?
I’ve played BH since gen 6 and I was hoping YOU could do a video on bans and clauses over the years 🙏🏽 I want to learn about things like Shedinja ban but I can’t because information is too all over the place on Smogon and it’s not so easy to just google them. Also, I have an opinion that’s considered a hot take in the BH community, but I think there’s TOO MANY bans in balanced hackmons because the format gets duller and it becomes more unrecognizable by each generation, but to be fair it is the game’s own power creep. My last hot take is “Why not ban Imposter?” I think removing this altogether would make the game more fun because imposter chansey always has a place on a team where it just walls the other person. Like chansey just has too many opportunities to break your team. We removed Illusion for one! Completely different ability but it wasn’t the most broken thing in the world. There’s been a lot of worse metas than either. I don’t know why we have a lot of mons banned too, idk if it’s to differentiate ourselves from Nat Dex BH and official BH. Important note: these two formats are run by 2 different groups/communities, and no one plays Nat Dex BH except for 2 people. I think a ban on specific interactions would balance the game more like how Comatose Sleep Talk doesn’t work, but nothing else in the entire game is.

Regigigas does much the same thing as slaking. I personally think truant should be changed to do half damage, and regigigas should just be given protean.

Slaking with choice band and double edge and 3 other high power physical attacking moves is still pretty good in singles. And for doubles, pairing him with prankster doodle grafaiai is the most inconsistent and permanent way to remove his terrible ability.

I thought Regigigas slightly outclassed Slaking. They have the same base Attack and Speed, and same typing and drawbacks from their base abilities. The only difference is Slaking's 150/100/65 bulk to Regi's 110/110/110, making Slaking bulkier on the physical side but Regi wins on the special and overall bulk I guess which one is better depends on which side of the physical/special attacks the current metagame favors
Gigas does outclass Slaking, usually. It however wasn't available during the time Slaking was legal (pre fulldex). In a meta where both are legal they can be used together to technically bypass species clause.
@@rightclicker_5306 That's not true. Compared to Regigigas, Slaking trades 15% less special bulk for 14% more physical bulk (without a defensive nature). However, more important than that is Slaking's higher HP (71.5% of Chansey's HP for Slaking and 60% for Regigigas) which makes it better against Imposter Chansey and the lesser common Innards Out Blissey and Chansey, which makes Slaking the better default choice unless you feel like you need to reach a specific benchmark of special bulk that Slaking doesn't reach.
