It actually reduces eyestrain if used correctly. Looking at a bright screen in a dark room is what often causes eyestrain. Having a light for your desk and lights behind the monitor can help with that. If your monitor is really dim and the light is set really bright it can reduce the image quality I suppose but with my screen this isn't an issue

Looks like a good light for the workshop bench, but surely having a light above your computer will reduce screen contrast and increase eye strain ?

What about reflections at the top of the screen? Does it bother you?
No reflections as my monitor is not glossy. Also you can tilt the light bar so it doesn't shine on monitor
