Some times ago i wrote to you a mail, in which i asked you some of this stuff. You, with your kindness, answered to all my doubts. But now also this video, i'm super happy :D !
Oh my god! I stumbled over this video by coincidance - not knowing anything about the creator. Within the first minutes of this review it became clear, this video was done by an artist. All the little details perfectly layed out. The composition and the editting just amazing. The comparison very weel thought and planned thru. Couldn´t have been done better. I got a Plus a while ago and went thru many videos. I remembe, what a time cosuming activity it was combining bits and pieces of information from the various videos to form a picture. If I would have known about this video before, that would have been a big time saver. At the end I got very curious about the maker - now things became clear. :-) Second video from Adam that I watched, was about the setup - WOW! Now, I wan to buy gadgets! And I certainly will use the upcoming holidays to watch more videos he has published. I expect tons of additional inspirations.
One thing that is not mentioned for the "PLUS" one is that the ambient sensor is not adjusting your light automatically if the lighting conditions change in the room as being actively looking all the time. You will have to press the button again in order for it to change. I would call it semi-auto adjustment. I have the Plus and I love it so the semi-auto/auto feature is a compromise I am willing to live with.
@@josephjoe4180 I wondered this, too, and contacted the BenQ support. They answered (rather quickly): "Unfortunately, all of our screenbar versions only have auto adjustment for brightness." So according to the Halo’s manual, which is more specific here than for the other models, they all seem to set the colour temperature to 4000 Kelvin when in auto mode.
SOLID review! This is the only video I've found comparing all models. I just ordered one - thanks for taking the time to review! 🇺🇸 Update: first night using it, have it at its warmest settings - INCREDIBLE. Working this evening is so much more enjoyable on the eyes - and, your video helped me decide on it. Thank you, dog!
What! Is! This! Video!!!! Like wow! Amazing in depth video of these lights. I’ve been eyeing these lights for awhile and this video is amazing. Thank you for this
the Plus definitely seems like the best one... having a controller with physical buttons (the knob 😍) and a fully detacheable cable (no batteries required either). if the halo had physical controls on the wireless puck thingy then i wouldn't mind the batteries or the fact that the cable is only half detacheable... idk seems like a step backwards in practicality that wasn't necessary. I have experience with touch sensitive controls, they're not fun. way better to have physical ones.
Considering the small (relatively) price difference its a no brainer imho to look at the PLUS over the Standard. The Halo is admittedly sexy with its additional features and having a wireless controller but starts to feel a lot for what it is. Especially given that its their top spec and so goes on offer a lot less than the other 2 others. Eg: have found the PLUS at £100ish on offer compared to the constant static price of £150 for the HALO. That a big jump. Great comparison review easily the most comprehensive/best on RUclips so thank you 👍
The Plus seems like the best option, don't have to change the batteries like in the halo or reach up to the light like the original... just wish all options came in black
Hi Adam. Thank you very much for your video. I have an Apple Studio Display and I would like to know if the Halo lightbar will cover the monitor camera? Thank you.
Great, simple & detailed Video! I am just wondering if the constant clinging pressure can damage my Thin-bezzled Monitor. Have you experienced anything of that sort? Thank you
Thank you for this video, this was really helpful in figuring out the function and differences. I got the standard one on a friend's recommendation. I just got it a few minutes ago and am testing it. At the moment, I feel like I didn't need this because I have the fan light right on top of my desk which is dimmable and temperature controllable. But I'm going to see if this additional screen light is going to make a difference to eye fatigue.
Thank you for the review, super useful. You mentioned you're using the Apple Studio Display, do these light cover the microphone or the camera on the display?
Great review and great screen lights too, but I just bought the Halo version and was disappointed with the automatic mode. First, no, it doesn’t adjust the light temperature according to the light conditions, it simply sets it to 50%, right in the middle. And if you then change the temperature setting, it kicks it off the auto mode. The auto mode only adapts the brightness to the conditions… and even there, I tested it with all lights and screen to the max, and it dialled the brightness back to around 2/3, while when all lights and screen are off or not super bright, it errs between 80% and max. So not much happening , and not necessarily in the wanted direction (more light when darker). Maybe my unit is bad, but for the temperature, it is literally written in the user manual: “In the Auto Dimming Mode, the light mode (front light/ambient light/both) remains the same while the lamp automatically adjusts its brightness according to the surrounding lighting condition and sets the color temperature to 4000K.”
Excellent review...Are all these tree models have the same brightness? My wife need one of these but not only she works with a computer but does a lot of paperwork and reading too,so we need the brightest...Which one would you recommend for her,eh?
Got one today, not that it’s a deal breaker but I noticed mine has no motion control (halo model). Unsure why, my guess is they discontinued that feature.
Thank you for the video. Though from watching other reviews, it would appear only the halo allows you to add a WebCam on top. Otherwise, where do you put your WebCam? Thank you.
Thanks so much for a great video. One question - how about a light for doing video calls? Can either the screen bar light or the backlight be effectively used for that or do I still need a ring light… ?
These will not help for that, as screenbars keep the light off your face. In my experience, the best solution for videoconferencing is to put lights at 45 degrees off to each side in front of you and above screen height if you have glasses to prevent glare. Regular lamps work just fine and if you need to diffuse the light, just bounce it off a wall instead or use a good shade.
I was really hoping that I would like one of the cheaper ones best 😭😭😭 I am adding the Halo to my “for when Laura is back in the money” list, the wireless controller alone has me sold. I can’t handle any more wires on my desk.
@@AdamDuffArt I checked a little and Xiaomi makes similar lights, it's a decent brand, maybe it's good for 50$. Maybe you can compare it. I just don't want to spend 200$ or more for a desk light, there are many other things that I need more :) But having a light on the monitor can be really useful
I just upgraded. The other brands do work but do not focus the light as good. They shine in your eyes and illuminate every tiny speck of dust on the screen. The Benq is worth the money!
@@AdamDuffArtthx for the great video. Is the puck for the halo good or bad? Lots and lots of people complain about it but it seems benq updated it to make it more responsive? Also it seems it goes through batteries very quickly. Thx

You just made BenQ some extra money.
I went with the halo I have a deep desk
Monitor is an arm and soon to be on a desk riser
Also I game and do homework at night a lot
Excellent guide, thank you!
Perfect review, I will go for the original one as suits me the best.
These are great in a vacuum, but with all the (very good) alternatives at much lower prices, I find it hard to consider BenQ's offerings.

Really great comparison video. Bravo!
I have BenQ PD3220U, 32+ 4k monitor. It is 5.5cm thick in the middle. So I think only Halo will fit it (max possible thickness is 6cm on Halo.)

Over 220 usd for the Halo where I live. No motion or human sensor and fiddly remote. Think I’ll build my own…
Amazing content, Adam
Do these fully illuminate a 27" or 32" inch monitor? Thanks?

can the light tube rotate so it can be use for a light source with web calls?

I have to agree - less wires is better - but do note that there isn’t a big difference o. That front - the wires pass behind the screen
Have you tried any similar lights that are chip something around 50$ or less?
$50 or less is pushing it for quality, but it’s definitely worth trying out the competition
