Totally agree with the chair. You can have the nicest Setup but if the chair sucks, you wont have fun working or gaming. I got the Backforce One Plus from someone who has only been using it for 3 months for 400 Dollars. Best investment I did in a while. My back literally never hurts. @@Curiousinternetperaonmy man I can assure you, most people don't go into debt to get a "nice car" lmao. We're not all living in the US Twitter's fantasy world. Considering a lot of decent pc's are $400 total, getting a stand just as expensive is ridiculous. It's a piece of metal. Why tf would it cost more than an RTX 4060? Sure, it's good quality and all and will be used a lot, but I can tell you from personal experience, even a $20-40 will do the exact same job without making your bank call you to ask if you've had your card stolen.

Nice set up. but looks more like a show case not an actual work place. Clean desk increases productivity for sure. Good job. Not many realize the whole room/office set up becomes more costly than the system itself. Then add IT tech support etc. ;-) For cable managements, you can also purchase a cheap PVC "cable trunking" tubes or "cord hider" tubes, cut them in needed sizes, stick them under the desk (with double tapes or screws). And I am always told not to tidy up the cables too much because they create electro magnetic field - snakes can burn down a studio, fire up an office, or blow up your precious newly cleaned up desktop system. So keep them lose and scattered, and cover up with a huge ... blockage of sort.
@@JonImperial Impressive! OCD level lol. Again, great job on cleaning that stuff. I need to get going on mine too. You motivate me. My neighbor also told me to get a UPS. Worth a hassle for all the electronics.
Bro, do you know how much times I rewatched this video to make my setup similar to yours? Its so nice, man. Beautiful Beautiful setup (might have changed for you already but this is perfect)
Out of everything I can upgrade, chair is definitely my most neccessity for me as graphics designer, and gamer at the same time for long hours sections which I was grateful to get a pretty new looking used leather Leap V2 for $300, insane value, and my seat for probably the next 10-20 years.
fire man!! Whats a keyboard you would reccomend thats mechanical, but optimal for schoolwork and typing oriented life, thats also not a gaming keyboard and looks very aesthetic?!
Need a modern/sleek (silver or carbon fiber?) movable arm for my logitech brio webcam as it currently sits on top of my benq monitor. I just bought the benq halo light, so want the cam offset and swizelable. minimal & sleek! Also, recommend a good mic for conf calls (not av/editing) - semi pro & not ridiculously sized? Same, stand for that as well or should that be desk mounted for cleanliness? Thanks Jon.
Great video - I've been wanting to upgrade my art studio space. Currently I just have a drafting table and drawing tools next to me on a TV tray. For lighting I'm just using a floor lamp. My setup is pretty low tech. Yes I agree - the chair is the most important part of your setup. I was using the original chair that came with this drafting table, its 20 years old. I couldn't sit here for very long it was killing my back. I got a new chair a few years ago. It has made such a huge difference - Thanks for the info.
Thank you for all your videos. You really have been a go to source for my new home office desk/gaming setup, starting from scratch and going for a professional looking aesthetic. Matter
Hey 👋🏼 I am totally new to this but need to get a new computer/laptop - can anyone tell me what the key essentials for a set up are? I had a laptop so far but bc I also have a tablet (iPad Pro) I don’t need another portable gadget anymore and wanna make the switch to a proper desktop setup. I know I’ll need a keyboard and a monitor screen, but what else is there? I don’t have a lot of money so I am fine with the bare necessities. Some kinda harddrive?
I am probably incredibly alone in that, but I despise minimal Desk setups with a Passion, since I have a fear of large rooms. This is a thing, you can look that up. Having minimalistic space actually creeps me the heck out, so I really enjoy my Desk crammy, but with near optimal space usage. :D But from my personal experience I can add to the Video that there is one thing I found out had improved my setup like literally nothing else before it: A Laptop. Having a secondary, completely own Machine besides my main PC is handy for SOO many things. It may not be entirely relatable when you never tried it, but hot damn, as a QA Tester and Editor this is coming in clutch in many situations.
Nice video; especially like the cable mgmt ideas. An additional audio add is a mini amp and Dac. If you’re into quality sound it’s definitely worth the investment. I have a Topping 30 Dac and a Fosi bt20a mini amp (wired speaker set up), but there are lots of options for both. Huge improvement to my average speakers. Small footprint for both items (stackable).
I have just ordered a new RGB Keyboard off Amazon as I am currently trying to build my set up that ive been saving for about 1 year already, and I still need to buy a good chair and monitor, and most importantly a computer. Thanks for this video Jon! Really helped
Great videos i like your ideas and attention to detail. Plus its nice see your intentions with the products and lets me see how i can apply them to my own space. Nice job!!
I'm filtering through a lot of office/desk setup videos to help get an idea of what I want. Your review of the chair was great and I truly could use some lumbar support for when I'm working. I also need bigger screens or to learn to zoom in more because I lean forward due to my vision. This then defeats the purpose of any lumbar support (not that my current chair has any anyways). The whole fad with the racer chairs are aesthetic, but I'm not the right body type for them, they're hella expensive, and don't seem to offer the support functions a regular office chair provides. I didn't think I wanted monitor arms as well, but the more I think about it, especially as I'm going to need to share my space with two laptops (the one my job lets me use and the other is my personal computer), the more flexibility will be important. Having a large monitor on an arm that I can bring forward to help my vision would be nice. Your office is really beautiful, thank you for sharing this! And lastly, if you made it through this ramble (sorry about that, lol), where did you get the wood panels? Not sure I could install something similar in my apartment without damaging the walls, but they look really nice.
700$ for a chair like that is an absolute overkill, the chair is very minimal I honestly thought it was around 100$ maybe even cheaper. I'm using a Dowinx chair that is 300$ and I'm an Artist so I spend 10+ hours everyday working on my desk and I feel very comfortable and it's keeping my back straight. It even has a massager installed in the back pillow.
Use a keyboard that has multiple BT connections so that you can change between devices with one button. I have one that does 3 devices that I use for my tab s9 Ultra, my surface book and my zenbook duo. My other mouse and keyboard are solely used for my main gaming/work pc. I have a laptop on either side of my desk with my tablet under my main monitors. Tier one: My zfold phone is mounted beside the tablet because it can also be accessed with the mouse and keyboard when on the tablet input. Tier two: My main monitor is an ultrawide with a regular monitor beisde it that spans the entirety of my desk length raised up on an add on table riser for monitors (which I use for more space as well). Tier 3: I have a samsung smart monitor mounted above the main monitors. I use these 5 devices while having plenty of space for writing in note pads or having open books etc. I also have several audio devices. I have an audio interface for my main microphone or when I want to use a digital amp, I have bose 700 noise cancelling headphones, I have airpod pros, and a gaming headset with mic. I also have 5" studio monitors (that are closer to 12" in height). I can wirelessly use most of these devices as external screens for any of my 3 computers and all my devices have dex mode in case I need an additional computer for something. I also have a VR occulus headset that I put on the top of my pc. I have an audio switch that allows me to press a button and switch the actual cable hookups of the studio monitors to my record player that is in my closet but for the other devices the speakers are also bluetooth. This may sound like overkill but each device has its own place and use and I do use them all frequently. I am a computer programmer and I typically use about 5 programs that are always open when programmign a study. If I am away I can have an easy 3-4 monitor setup since my laptop has a second screen built in above the keyboards and I can use my phone and tablet as screens.
How would one use a monitor light bar if they were running a dual monitor setup with a monitor arm? Is it possible to still have it centered like this?
I use a Furman power conditioner under my desk mounted to server rack units. Holds my hard drives to and other power options or accessories. Cant see it from eye level.
Which is your desk mat? I think it's called that way, but basically what you have under your mouse/keyboard. It's look nice! I just bought something similar like the grovemade desk mat but my cats love it and they are destroying it scratching😅
You do the same thing I do: lay underneath a standing desk hahaha. Bro just raise the standing desk for cable management so much easier than keeping it low and crawling underneath. I still do it sometimes too but I've slowly learned: "Oh I can just raise the desk!"
I have a question, what kind of tablet case do you have specifically? I draw on my tablet too but when you pulled out the stand for it with the case I realy wanted the same one you have thank you and your vid made me think what to improve next!
Just the style I love and was looking for. I watched this video on my work computer and came to my personal to subscribe. Keep it up. Oh and the wallpapers are dope

Dam that's nice. I've been looking at my setup thinking that "Ahh well, I can survive with it..." and haven't done anything. I'm gonna make a plan now for upgrades and then slowly work towards the goal!
Slow way is absolutely the way! Personally I wanted good speakers, built some Overnight Sensation Speakers, veneered them and finished them in a way I liked, made matching stands. Next I realised I wanted more light, bought a xiaomi lightbar. Now I have quite some cables from the audio gear on the desk. Gonna make a deskshelf to my personal taste. The ones online I either don't like or find too expensive. I'd rather buy a new tool for those prices and make it myself learning as I go. I now know all my deskshelf needs because I haven't had one for a while now haha. Gonna be fun!

400 may seem like a lot, but you may grow to realize that the things you use most are worth extra $$, and that generally in life, you do get what you pay for
@@Curiousinternetperaonmy man I can assure you, most people don't go into debt to get a "nice car" lmao.
Could you please tell the product name of the table mate, I couldn't find it in the description. It looks so good 😢
It’s from ergonofis! They are having a sale here: shrsl.com/4ad7z
Dude. You are awesome. Love all the feedback from your experience! Most RUclipsrs make it sound like it’s all good when buying stuff and how much it’s worth it. But I love how you sound real
I appreciate that comment so much! 🙏🏾
What's the sound pads on the left side of the walls used? They look great

Bro wallpaper is awesome fron where did you download
I have it on my website!
Nice set up. but looks more like a show case not an actual work place. Clean desk increases productivity for sure. Good job.
Not many realize the whole room/office set up becomes more costly than the system itself. Then add IT tech support etc. ;-)
For cable managements, you can also purchase a cheap PVC "cable trunking" tubes or "cord hider" tubes, cut them in needed sizes, stick them under the desk (with double tapes or screws).
And I am always told not to tidy up the cables too much because they create electro magnetic field - snakes can burn down a studio, fire up an office, or blow up your precious newly cleaned up desktop system. So keep them lose and scattered, and cover up with a huge ... blockage of sort.
It's actually not that hard to get it clean. I shared a bit about my system here: ruclips.net/video/FDLDYeqcAPo/видео.html
Ahhh I appreciate that man 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Out of everything I can upgrade, chair is definitely my most neccessity for me as graphics designer, and gamer at the same time for long hours sections which I was grateful to get a pretty new looking used leather Leap V2 for $300, insane value, and my seat for probably the next 10-20 years.
That is awesome!! 😊 Good deal!
This video is immaculate vibes, good job, if that was your goal.
I appreciate that! 😁
I also LOVEEEE the YouToo chair!! My fav ergonomic chair (but I might be biased 🫶)
It is pretty awesome! 😉 I LOVE IT TOO!
fire man!! Whats a keyboard you would reccomend thats mechanical, but optimal for schoolwork and typing oriented life, thats also not a gaming keyboard and looks very aesthetic?!
I love the wall accents with the wooden slats! It’s giving me ideas as I just built my first pc over the weekend using the Fractal Design North case
Ooh nice! Thanks for watching 😊
this will definitely help me making my desk setup more minimal & productive. Thanks Jon :) This upgrade really 'matter'
Happy to help! Thanks for watching. 😊
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏾
For afordable speakers I ONLY recommend the Bayz Audio Counterpoint
Thank you for all your videos. You really have been a go to source for my new home office desk/gaming setup, starting from scratch and going for a professional looking aesthetic.

I am so glad I could help! Thank you so much! 🙌🏾
You don’t really need much. Build your setup slowly. Don’t buy everything at once.😊
:D But from my personal experience I can add to the Video that there is one thing I found out had improved my setup like literally nothing else before it:
A Laptop.
Having a secondary, completely own Machine besides my main PC is handy for SOO many things. It may not be entirely relatable when you never tried it, but hot damn, as a QA Tester and Editor this is coming in clutch in many situations.
So you're excusing being messy and having disorganized clutter behind some kind of phobia? 🤣🤣🤣
9:12 *Speakers*
For better audio quality, the speakers should be pointed to your ears. Creating an equilateral triangle.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Amazing! Hey Jon, what kind of LUT and Camera you use? The image quality is great!
Thank you! I do my own color grading. I use a Sony a7iv. 😊
incredibly aesthetic setup, loved the video/suggestions, but I really want to know more about the moving wrist rest just behind the mouse

I have just ordered a new RGB Keyboard off Amazon as I am currently trying to build my set up that ive been saving for about 1 year already, and I still need to buy a good chair and monitor, and most importantly a computer. Thanks for this video Jon! Really helped
Glad it helped! 🙏🏾
Great videos i like your ideas and attention to detail. Plus its nice see your intentions with the products and lets me see how i can apply them to my own space. Nice job!!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the video! 🙏🏾
What dark paint color and brand do you use behind your desk?
It’s called Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams 😊
Thanks, how about the light wall color?
im willing to spend a little more on a chair but almost a grand is outrageous
Outrageous? No. Expensive? Sure.
There are MUCH more expensive chairs out there, but I understand if it’s too much.
I've never thought about a monitor light bar, but damn I've had so many situations where that would be an excellent fix
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 😊

Matter. Well played sir. I like seeing the evolution. Your current set up looks fantastic, and seems to be laid out to function well. Form & function!
Thanks! 😁
The chair being important is a big understatement. I've used my $50 chair for almost 10 years and really regret not buying a good one earlier
YES!! Say that again for the people in the back 😂

Maybe I missed it but what is the phone stand that’s in the thumbnail?
You can find it here. ugmonk.com/products/gather-organizer-set-black?variant=42414519582870
How would one use a monitor light bar if they were running a dual monitor setup with a monitor arm? Is it possible to still have it centered like this?
I see that delta hub carpio, I absolutely love mine.

what is the wood on your wall and where can i get it
Looks very nice! I'm also curious what shelves you're using to the right of the desk.
It’s a ladder shelf from Amazon. The one I have is discontinued but here’s a similar one amzn.to/3tNWqfQ
I love the wallpapers. The blue goes great with my space and desk. But I might set it to scroll through all this summer.
I use a Furman power conditioner under my desk mounted to server rack units. Holds my hard drives to and other power options or accessories. Cant see it from eye level.
I'll look into those!
Where do I find the phone stand used on the thumb nail? Or maybe there isn't one but it looks like the phone is leaning against something. 🧐

Dude! For real!!! That was an old clip though. I know better now 😂

Hi John, cool setup. How do you turn your system on, noting the macbook is behind the monitor? Do you have to open the shell each time?
I just plug it to my Studio Display using a Thunderbolt cable, then it turns on. 😊
What shade of gray is that? Im looking into renovating my living room and i really want to add that to my walls!
Where can I find that cute mini tree looking plant at 10:43 ? I really want that one but your plant links go to general search listings.

Dam that's nice. I've been looking at my setup thinking that "Ahh well, I can survive with it..." and haven't done anything. I'm gonna make a plan now for upgrades and then slowly work towards the goal!
Yes! Build slow! That way you don’t waste money getting things you don’t actually need. 😊
