Yeah the Halo version is definitely pricey, but it’s a “premium” product. Just by nature of being a computer accessory designed for productivity, it’s already in a very niche, techy tier product. The design is nothing short of fantastic, and the price is really the only thing that I dislike about it.

Appreciated the frankness and not influenced by the supplier. Agreed the price is too steep for what the product offers. When it is advertised to a certain spec, it should be at least equal or exceed the specification. Its not a beauty contest, it has to deliver the purpose and effectiveness.

Your review is very detailed! Probably the most useful review I’ve came across so far for this product.
By the way, is the auto light not able to reach 500 lux very noticeable? Also, compared to the plus version, is the design/material in real life feel/look better?
I really really like the plus version’s knob(the remote control?) despite not being wireless. It looks very unique and luxurious imo. However, given that it’s only about 50usd more to buy a newer and supposedly better product, I think it’s ok to just spend a few bucks. But if it’s not really better(in terms of lighting and design -the backlight doesn’t matter for me anyway as I have led strip light), I’d probably just get the plus version.

Sadly Xiaomi has had a more competetive version of a light bar for years now.. and for only 50$ (converted from Euro). It sadly has the same control for warmth/intensity, has the wireless knob to put anywhere and anything you might need from a "LAMP".. I don't know who in their right mind would spend 180$ for this

Why does Benq's monitor designers ignore the built-in cameras of many monitors (especially Apple Studio Display)? Look at the camera placement on many monitors and modify the clamp to accommodate those cameras. The light bars design also lacks imagination and function to actually limit and direct the illuminated areas.

God for this price i can get a xiaomi lightbar or any other, plus led strips plus some acoustic panels plus philips hue lights or whatever. The price is simply ridiculous. For 180 dollar you get a remote with unreadable signs on it and a simple "white" backlight. wow.

  • @EasyMoneySG

This guy has to be trolling the light in the back is the light up the wall behind your monitor so that you're looking at an evenly lit space rather than having the bright monitor with the dark background.
I took LED strips and put them on the back of my monitor just to fix this problem however having a light on top that you can shine down on your desk would be useful sometimes especially when I don't want to turn on the monitor.

I went with the Xiaomi MI and it’s only $64, has a wireless controller, and is brighter than this “Halo” BS. Almost $200 for a light is outrageous. As a licensed electrician I can tell u that there aren’t many models of LED fixtures that cost that much, especially at this size. 👎🏼 I can always appreciate a no-shill honest review. Earned a sub!!

Tried Xiaomi's lamp, it causes glare on the display. It has a bad mount. Also, Halo doesn't compete with Xiaomi, Benq has cheaper lamps. It's decent value if it fits your display well.
