Shane Burcaw (he/him) is the author of several award-winning books about disability. He is the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.
Hannah Burcaw (she/her) graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog, which has over 800,000 subscribers on RUclips. Hannah has spoken at prestigious universities and Fortune 500 companies alike about the realities of ableism. On her popular Instagram account, she advocates for acceptance of all people and works to improve the way society thinks about disability.
Shane and Hannah have been together for over four years. They got married in September of 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic in their backyard, with their officiant conducting the ceremony via Zoom. Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.
As an able bodied person, I’ve never thought about the fact that airplanes aren’t wheelchair accessible. That is just ridiculous, and nobody should have to deal with this!
Yea..I just became disabled 2yrs ago & its a rude awakening..suddenly the world became inaccessible.
Same. I'm horrified.
Money is the issue. So sad.
That’s why I love this channel, I am so much more aware of things like this!
I became disabled in 2015 and haven’t flewn since. I’m too scared my powerchair breaks, this is a nightmare, since I can only sit in my chair, because of an ortheses I need to be able to sit, as external support for my body. Your chair gets tossed about in the cargo hold and I’ve heard so many stories about broken and busted up chairs that I just don’t even want to bother. If I can’t drive there I won’t go there. It really ruins travel for me. So stupid.

Yep! Anyone can become disabled. And becoming disabled can really open your eyes to inaccessible world.
@@lco9214 ooh, and when we become old, too. If you become old enough, someday you're gonna have problems with getting around by yourself. I started living with my 91 years old grandma and started realizing all the problems that wheelchair users go through.

Just saw in the tabloid news that Hannah has a boyfriend who is an ex marine. He’s 6’3” and in excellent shape. Shane knows about him and is ok with it. In fact, Liz (Hannah’s mom) is the one that introduced them!
@@youtubeadministration1059 SHAME ON YOU!
Airlines are constantly damaging wheelchairs in cargo, too. I was listening to a podcast today and the host said, “An airline employee breaking someone’s chair should be treated like an employee breaking someone’s legs. They’re taking away their mobility.” Really put things in perspective.
With the way the baggage handlers throw luggage around, I'm not surprised that they have no respect for the very expensive wheelchair.
I love the thumbnail Hannah is carrying Shane like he's a wounded comrad in battle with the "woman on a mission get out of my way" face
They are comrades in this battle called life and they seem well-trained and equipped to win.

I've been suing an airline for 3 years, they destroyed my chair and left me on my own. It was LATAM
All they need is one row at the front of the plane that’s empty where people can snap their wheelchairs into place and sit comfortably. Come on people - it’s 2021, airline industry!
Some Greyhound buses have a row where they remove the seats in order to accommodate wheelchairs. Then when not used they put the seats back.
I got that seat before & it's wonderful. So much more legroom.
ya buses have seats in front were the flip up and usually have a locking system were the tire goes to lock safe. Now if the companies for buses can think of this why can't the damn companies that make the planes
Because that’s where first, and economy+ is and those make the airline the most money, they are cheap. That’s why. Cheap and ableist
It would be nice indeed if I could stay in my chair during a flight (I am a wheelchair user). Sadly, it will likely never happen. Airplanes are fundamentally different from trains and buses (which have done this by the way). The passenger cabin is designed for maximum survival during an extremely high impact event. Unfortunately, there are no restraints made that would hold a wheelchair and its occupant during such an event (crash). Having a 500 pound wheelchair+occupant hurtling through the air after a crash is the nightmare scenario they are trying to avoid.
its not that easy, they need to meet safty requirements also, since its so many different wheelchairs its hard to make a mechanism that mount them all sercurly.
I love how Hannah's mom always come along on long trips to help Shane get around. It's nice that Shane has a great relationship with his mother-In-Law.
She's actually his caregiver. Hannah is just a paid prop. Not to sound rude, but do some research.
@@lg316 -Wow, you're such a troll!
@LG Is 100% right. Hannah is just a paid prop and her mom is Shane’s caregiver.
@@Colette_Leroux that seems like a pretty elaborate scheme but I love your enthusiasm 10/10 for effort
@@lg316 lol go troll someone else will ya? what a waste of your time tbh
I still can’t comprehend why there isn’t at least one place on a plane where someone can stay in their wheelchair and secure it like they do on a bus?
Because airlines are so greedy, they’re not willing to give up one seat. That’s sadly the only reason, they need to cram in and sell out every seat, every flight, rather than accommodate passengers in wheelchairs.
How does that even make any sense regarding safety? How is it in any way safe
Not worth that small being on wheels convenience if it will compromise yourself and everyone else on the plane.
Why not admit the obvious safety issue? Everyone is complaining on the convenience and little mention of the very serious safety issues that bring and saying “they can do it on so easily on buses and trains so planes can just as easily do it too” PUBLIC transport is not comparable in the slightest to a airborne plane! It is a safety and a liability issue. For literally everyone on the plane.
Not worth it at all!
@@HaA-s To be fair, i've literally never heard of a seat saving a persons life on a crash. So maybe the testing is pointless. Not trying to argue, just saying from a logical standpoint.
@@HaA-s That makes sense, actually. Thank you for explaining. Indeed would be horrible to have a wheelchair - or parts of it - flying across a crashing plane... Nevertheless, you'd think there should be a solution somehow. It would be so nice for them to not have to worry about all the logistics
@@carlos66965 People can survive airplane crashes, and when they do they are always buckled in their seats.

Hi squirmy and grubs! I’m glad you got your chair working again. I work for a DoD terminal, so I know some of the ins and outs of moving passengers and cargo. I was reading some of the comments. Some of these folks have really good points. I whole-heartedly agree that the airlines should be more accessible. I’m glad I see youtubers/influencers like you both, who have decided to educate people like me on the wide range of needs of so many people. I’m only a shift supervisor, but I’m going to start looking into ways to improve my terminal. If anyone has ideas, please let me know.
Sometimes, when we’re lifting heavy bags and cursing people for putting bricks in their luggage, we forget that very real people need this stuff. I try to MAKE myself less ignorant, but again, feel free to comment and let me know how to improve. Much love. ❤️
i saw a video recently of a woman whose wheelchair was broken during travel on a flight and she was trying so hard to explain to them that her wheelchair is a part of her, like an extension and she had even put signs on her wheelchair that it was fragile and how it needed to be stored... it broke my heart, not just because of how expensive they are but because it was a part of her and they broke it like it was nothing... airplanes NEED to be accessible. period. i’m so sorry you guys have to deal with this still.
It just happened to her best friend too! All on Delta. So upsetting.
@@mnmkidsis i hate delta, i’ve never had a good experience with them
I worked for a freight cargo company, where 1,000's of pieces of parcel handled in ways of sorting, weighed, inspected, counted, at a time where employees are working against the clock.
Half of us (that is when I worked at the airport) are tired, and lack time to regard every single parcel that comes into contact with.

They should make something for airplanes to put the chair secured instead of be on a seat
Maybe the fear is that in case of emergency a chair might obstruct the aisle - and prevent other passengers from being able to deplane ?
Wow! Every airline exec needs to see this video. I was experiencing anxiety for you. It is 2021. It should not be difficult to have a designated wheelchair section on a plane, just like buses and cars,
This channel is doing a great job educating people about accessibility concerns. As we all get older, we will need ramps and other things to help us get around.
Little advice... Disconnect the battery, my $70,000 chair has been broke like 4 times because even tho i left it disengaged to be able to push it... The baggage people turn it on to try to move it & leave it on & during to flight the parts that tilt get activated and break
🕊🕊🕊
Great advice!
I hope they see this
If there is another way, I would make sure to let them know this in a way they will certainly read it! Because this is very important information which could help them a lot! Since this comment is not “hearted” by them, so they might not have read this..
Great advice- something nobody would think of without having experienced it.
It's 2021 - we can get to space, we can non- invasively get 3d images of peoples insides, surely there must be a way to attach a wheelchair to an aircraft as securely as an aircraft seat.
Hopefully not on the wing.

I'm glad y'all were able to get the chair fixed so quickly. As much as I like that airline, they are notorious for breaking wheelchairs.
“Great job, Delta,” I said as sarcastically as humanly possible.
I wrote an entire essay on how wheelchairs should be allowed on planes I’m 14 and able bodied I actually used quotes from Shane as evidence
You will do great things in this world :)
You're really smart & I can tell you're really caring too. You truly make the world a better place. I'm sure you'll do something really special with your life.
Please continue to learn about and write about this topic and similar topics advocating for accessibility! Please!
Perhaps you can start a letter writing campaign to Boeing and Airbus as well as the airlines as a summer project. You're one smart cookie!
It's a valid concern. I work in the planes, so I will clarify why. You see, most aisles in the plane are too small to accommodate regular wheelchairs. Reason is , to accommodate as many seats as possible....it business and profits nothing personal .
Second, for safety reasons which is more important for the customers and the airlines. Everyone's seat in the plane has to be secured to the floor . When hit by severe turbulence, one's chair will be flying around and to the ceiling causing injury to themselves and others and possible deaths. I hope with a little light on the reasons, you can find ways to navigate better in your future essay arguments. Best of luck
This JUST happened to another gal and they were not going to replace her wheel chair or offer to have it fixed. She was in hysterics and the employees of the airline in question just stood there with her in the air port wheelchair. It was so heartbreaking, and it infuriates me every time I hear this happening to someone. They don't realize how difficult it is for people to obtain wheel chairs like what Shane has. Insurance gives you run arounds and you'll spend years trying to get it covered.
Who was this please? Got a link?
I saw that! It was heartbreaking to watch

Wow!! I’m so glad the vendor was able to talk through the repair and you were able to fix it. I shuddered watching the guys trying to move it so aggressively. People just don’t seem to realize how important (and expensive!) mobility equipment is.
Shane was so calm and did not freak out ! i did feel my anxiety going up and I was not there.
Me too! I would have been telling the flight attendant to ask the baggage guys what the heck they think they're doing & that they will break the chair unless they follow the instructions on the yellow sign.
Watching the three of you handle a very stressful situation on the fly with such grace and humor is a true testament to your character. Hoping the rest of your trip is smooth sailing!
To think all of that could have been avoided with a wheelchair accessible spot on the plane. Breaking your wheelchair is the same as breaking an ablebodied person's legs.
There’s a danger in having the person in the chair on the plane. Even when they’re in the chair securely and the chair is secured to the plane floor if there is a incident with the plane, like a hard landing or crash, that wheelchair becomes incredibly dangerous to the person in the chair and other passengers. It’s hard to have to put their chair in the cargo hold but it’s really safer for everyone. My mom’s chair weighed about 300 lbs. and took 4 firemen to lift, so it didn’t need to break loose in a plane crash. I do agree that the airlines should treat them more carefully and if they had to pay to replace them they’d take far better care of them for passengers.
My dad has ALS which is kind of how I found this channel, and after he became wheelchair bound, we had to stop traveling because it made him so anxious to even think about all the stress of a flight with his chair. It’s so frustrating
"...talked through the repair..." I literally threw my hands in the air and cheered like my team just scored the winning goal! Go Hannah!!!
It’s so good that you filmed this. What a nightmare! Wheelchair users deserve so much better!
I'm truly sorry you guys had to go through that where they broke his wheelchair that's sad that they can't take enough time to move someone's wheelchair without breaking it that's disrespectful and so many levels
I mean it's not like they broke it on purpose. They're working, they're busy, probably stressed, it's perfectly human.
@@RedcoatVikingYT they need to create better protocols for handling wheelchairs though. There’s an average of 29 wheelchairs broken on flights per day in the US & those chairs are people’s livelihoods & their way of getting around. It often means months of not being able to go anywhere if they have to wait for a new chair.
@3 minute game reviews sadly it’s a common problem on airlines - they break around 2 dozen wheelchairs per DAY. These are basically people’s legs so they really need to train employees to handle wheelchairs more carefully - my partner uses one and I see how they tend to handle them, it’s really bad.
@@elizamcdonough6237 ty Eliza!
@@elizamcdonough6237 honestly it's both, but it's just easier to blame the immediate effect of a broken wheelchair on the people putting them in and taking them out than confront the fact that if these airport workers weren't under strict time limits to complete boarding, and provide them with protocols for how to secure MEDICAL DEVICES used by millions of people in a way that protected them from cabin shifted luggage, it would be something that happened way less frequently.
Mama Liz looked as pissed as I have ever seen her!

My son is in a wheelchair, and I have to fight everytime we go somewhere. I get told all the time because he's so little and young it's not that hard, while I don't find it hard most of the time it isn't always easy in every situation. I vote handicapped access everywhere, including airplanes and wheelchairs. I've gotten so frustrated at how ignorant some people can be about it. It's a huge problem, and most people don't realize unless it directly deals with them or someone they know.
It’s not always about ignorance etc.
Same boat my younger brother is in who is 29 years old with cerebral palsy and and mild mental retardation. I’m responsible for him.
My sister has MS and has been in a wheelchair for 28 years. There is an astounding lack of understanding and empathy from people who have never had to deal with this in their personal lives. There are so many complications and difficulties that arise, it’s hard to even comprehend of.
@@arnevonjensen ignorance means lacking knowledge so it's either they're ignorant or a piece of crap

I’m so afraid if I ever ran into you both out in the real world, I wouldn’t be able to control my laughter. Not because I’m confused by your relationship, but because I would automatically think of all of the goofy things Shane had done. For instance, him being a wine “connoisseur.”🤣
Love is not a burden. Just watching this and watching Hannah and her mom lovingly and patiently working on Shanes wheelchair to help him fly just warms my heart. Such loving people. All three working together, airlines so stupid to not allow wheelchairs on airplanes are the problem. Airlines are the problem and this family is full of love and how dare anyone question their true love. I said my peace. This is what normal should look like, their actions not the airlines and it is so rare I had to comment. Love is not a burden. Word.

I hear you @Ben Mattlin 💜
This video was a real eye-opener about what wheelchair users face while traveling. Wow. Kudos to you for keeping your cool under the circumstances.
We should be able to sit in our wheelchairs while flying. It is 2021.
We can do it in busses, why can't we do it in planes???? There should be an international effort, but of course if there's a space for a wheelchair it is less passengers flying in the flights there's no wheelchair users, so less money 🤷🏻♀️ they are not interested at all. In busses, the wheelchair space is used for standing people most of the time, in a plane it can't happen

I was a Flight Attendant and here is some insight for you guys. All due respect when I say this, but it is much safer for the wheelchair that heavy to go secured below where other heavy cargo goes for weight and balance.
Shane's chair is like 400 pounds+Shane's body size you pair that with someone sitting next to him and youv got a issue.
Behind the scenes weight in the cabin is checked before take off, to make sure the plane can take off and land safely. On some planes if there is even one person in the wrong zone of a plane the captain will have people move. If there is too much weight in the cabin passengers can and will be removed at times. Fuel is also measured into weight in balance.
That wheel chair goes below because it can be centered or balanced out with other extremely heavy cargo
Let's say the planes were configured to hold his chair in the cabin instead, you would still run into a problem of the chair not being bolted down securely. When you add turbulence or G forces if the plane were to drop in clear air turbulence of if there was an emergency his 400 pound chair would become a 1200lb chair and with no bolts that chair becomes extremely dangerous and would kill someone and Shane.
This is why people have had bruises on their thighs from seatbelts when a plane drops a couple hundred feet in clear air turbulence because the plane goes down and any thing that's not secured down goes up and the seat belt causes the bruise because it presses on the thighs while keeping bodies in place.
Aviation is so safe that people often forget about the worse case now but I've been injured during turbulence. I know flight attendants who have broken bones, gotten concusions, torn muscles, shoulders ankles knees. I know someone who was almost paralyzed by a non secured 250 pound galley serving cart.
So it is not about airlines not caring about disabled people but because pilots, crew and airlines do care about the safety of you guys and everyone on board every flight.
With that said I do think all planes should have a big enough cargo door for EVERY SINGLE type of wheelchair, but in the cabin no I don't think any heavy chair should go into it for the safety of you and everyone else on board during turbulence, take off and landing.
After watching this, all that I can say Shane is so blessed to have Hannah and her mother. They really are an amazing team!
Funny you are done with the
My aunt who had ALS had her electric chair damaged during flight. It was devastating, not only the cost to repair, which the airline did not help at all with, but her chair was the one thing that gave her the most independence. Something has to change regarding the keeping of the wheelchairs on an aircraft. I’m sorry it happened to you, but happy it worked out in the end
I'm so impressed at how calm and jovial Shane remained when Hannah was clearly upset and stressed about the wheelchair. I'd be feeling just like Hannah and two people stressing just makes things feel worse! Kudos to Shane for that

The most amazing thing of all is how cool and calm you all were. Incredible. I will think of the three of you from now on every time I travel and it will make me calm no matter what happens.
My God Shane, you were a lot calmer than I would have been, I would have had a breakdown of some sort, or at least internally with silent tears. From a past bad experience without my chair this is my worst fear of travelling. My Dad doesn't want to travel again for this reason- he would have panicked too, he struggles with this stuff. Thank goodness you have level heads in Hannah and her Mum too, you make a great team. So glad you got it sorted. But what the hell did they do to it? I have a c350, those footrests just don't come off, they literally assaulted your chair. The moment they missed the giant sign of instructions you just get a sinking feeling. So glad it was resolved.
👍🗣🕊
I would like to echo the sentiments expressed about a key aspect of your vlog of this episode and the remarkable composure of all involved S&G team members. The value of this video as an instructional tool is immense, as the focus does not shift to complaints made in frustration at the hands of ignorance, but rather documents the events, time line, and foreseeable hurdles which the airline failed to address. You all maintain a good natured, ‘rolling with the punches’, serenity. May your vlog go viral, perhaps with a remix of the soundtrack🎭.
Makes me so upset that you get hit with so many issues., Airlines need to do better., His chair needs to fit on The plane in a empty spot up front so he doesn’t need to be transferred all around,.. How can we come together and make this happen.. 🥰
There’s no reason we can’t have this access for everyone
@@theketovillagee Planes don't have "empty spots." They try to eke every penny out of every spot. The only empty spots are ones that are required for movement/escaping.
We as a society really have to be willing to absorb a little bit of the costs (because companies will always try to pass the costs on to us) for things like dedicated wheelchair spots on _every_ plane. There's a large portion of society that just doesn't have the empathy for that.
Perhaps those paying for first class recliners could chip in for a disability slot!?
@@arnicepernice8656 Would be fine by me. Though often they don't sell out first class and give people free upgrades when the plane is about to leave (like Liz got in the video). So I'm not sure how the funding would work out exactly.
@@mahna_mahna take away a seat from first class then 🤷🏻
When my chair won’t turn on, it’s means the immobiliser has kicked in. To switch it off I have to press a combination of different buttons on the control box.
Did the removal of the footrest have anything to do with the repair needed? I love the light that you shine on every industry who isn’t wheelchair accessible.
Traveling would tempt me to put a secret camera on the wheel chair to see what happens to it while others have it.
I love how patient you are.
The emotional whiplash I had from laughing at Shane being a wine expert to genuinely crying over your guys frustration with the wheelchair and the airline is so strange. It sucks that being disabled means we have to put in extra work than other people! Just because you're in a chair doesn't mean you should have to become an expert in wheelchair maintenance or airline management :/
Sponsors should be lining up just to see the ‘Burcaw-esque’ interpretation of their products!
Zero comparison to Shane, but was wheelchairing it as I re-learned how to walk & got a taste of the logistical nightmare it is ✈️
TSA wouldn’t listen when I said, if try to get me upright I’ll fall. Sure enough, I fell to the ground & only then did they let my husband help me.
Safe travels and love from Central PA, Belinda
The preparation that goes into setting everything up for a plane ride is insane!! I can’t believe there is no easier way for Shane to be comfortable without that much work. Props to y’all. 👏
This ordeal was insane. Kudos to Hannah and her mom for being patient with some of the inconveniences.
You guys have brilliant ads, lol. More RUclipsrs need to make the ads funny or interesting like you do!
You can always count on mama bear to be prepared to help her cubs out.
imagine waiting to get off the plane after hours and hours to watch some clueless bozos man-handle the legs you couldn’t bring on board
INDEED
Probably the only people I subscribe to that I actually watch the Ads for without fast forwarding, etc. I love how much creativity they put into all these!!
Been on two flights with two broken chairs after both. I am amazed at the level of composer that you all show, all of you are far calmer than I'd ever be lol. I'm on a vent with a trach now so I dont fly anymore. I hope they change it soon for wheelchairs
to quote John Mulaney: "we're Delta airlines and life is a f*!&$ing nightmare!" airlines SERIOUSLY need to find a way to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices on planes.
And service dogs. My son is 6’5” with a service dog. They won’t help in anyway except to pay for bulkhead seating. If you don’t need the space, I can understand an up charge but they cannot fit in a regular Delta seat.
Delta wouldn't let me fly alone. So my significant other, who was sick from cancer infusion, had to accompany me. He held my hand while i ccried on the flight. I fought for them to reimburse his ticket. they did.
Wow so the airline didn’t even fix it, without your connections to experts the issue wouldn’t have been fixed! UGH!!!
The wine tasting ad deserves an award. That was classic! Especially the sniff! :D
How hard could it be to remove 1 seat in front row to accommodate a wheechair!
So sorry you had to experience this. Thank you for sharing and raising awareness about this problem! I never thought about wheelchairs on flights until I found your channel.
Haha “gulps with grubs”!
Queue: ‘interesting’ snorts and swallowing noises.
😂
Wow that is so stressful, and exactly the thing people with mobility devices are afraid of happening. Glad you were able to fix it Hanna!
Oh man. That's so stressful. I'm so glad you were able to fix the chair. What a nightmare.
I felt myself having an anxiety attack when Shane's wheel chair wouldn't work. You guys were able to stay so calm. What a relief they could talk through on the phone. Airlines this day of age and for as much as they charge should be ashamed of not having wheel chair access on flights. Grrr
Man! You guys are not only total pros, but you should get an award for being so patient with the situation. Mom looked like she was fuming tho😂That is grit! Love you guys.
Wine connoisseur I laughed so hard I had a cough attack, which then had me in tears and then running to the ladies room. I've been stressed out. I so needed this laughter. Thank you.
What makes me sick is to think of parents trying to travel with a disabled child and having this nightmare.
That s so sad, Shane should always be able to sit In His wheel chair, my Mom was wheelchair bound because of polio and was not able to fly because she could not transfer from wheel chair to the seat
Is there any kind of petition we can sign to get airlines to allow wheelchairs on airplanes? Or is there any other way we can make a difference? It's just absurd that disabled people have to go through all of this just to get on a flight.
What a wonderful woman Hannah is. She loves Shane. It takes a lot of strength and love to do what she does everyday. Shane is funny and has a great personality. Love these two
Comedic genius during the wine commercial! Hilarious!! Thank you!! xoxo
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@SquirmyandGrubs Thank you again and again for all you both do!
Coming from an aviation background I can tell you why they can't just let you wheel yourself on and stay in your chair, one of the reasons why is that your wheelchair is not built for the stress of an emergency impact. This is for your safety and the passengers on board the aircraft. I know it is hard for you but this is part of the FAA safety standards, and will not change until your wheelchair is built for these standards.
If the ingenuity exists to build planes at all, the ingenuity exists to have wheelchairs be secured into the cabin :)
@@PsychedelicSmurf all chairs have to be bolted to the floor. Remember when Shan went off the wheelchair ramp? Think how bad it would be on an emergency he ended up like this with the plan on fire, or in water sinking, or his chair has has landed on a child or elderly person in that emergency and not only pinned himself upside-down but on top of someone else and blocking the exit way for others to escape. Severe turbulence could even cause him and his chair damage. Airline seats are crash tested and made to be structurally as safe as they can. Wheelchairs are not made to these standards. This may seem unfair, but life is not always fair. After seeing Shan hurt going off the ramp was hard enough, would not like to see him really hurt.
@@marjoryskousen3488 I don't refute that those scenarios are scary and certainly real concerns with the current limitations being what they are, but again, my point is that humans have the capability to come up with a solution to these issues. DNA sequencing, space travel; we have the ability to do very difficult things. However, I feel we have not accomplished this particular thing because of greed and the inherent limitations of capitalism.
Then Boeing can simply start building accessible airplanes, and the FAA adjusts their guidelines and regulations to include disabled people. Or airlines/the government start paying people for their losses. It can be figured out. :)
I’m flying in two days and I’m simply trying to remember to check in tomorrow. I can’t imagine what it takes to prepare Shane and the process. Honestly, it’s ridiculous that they haven’t simplified it. We can be send people to the moon but can’t secure his wheelchair on a plane. 🤦🏻♀️
Not the same
People haven’t been to the moon since the 70s, so not a good comparison hah :)
this just shows that there is still a ton of work to do in terms of disability awareness and inclusion. Keep fighting!
As a fellow power chair user, this gave me overwhelming anxiety.
