Southampton were not too far behind, neither were Ipswich Town. At the time of writing, only 2 of those 5 are in the top flight now and one of the pair only just scraped from relegation. The game now has allowed a smattering of clubs to control the way the game is funded now. Almost like society, a small group own all the wealth while the other 86/85 clubs get the scrapings
Laurie Cunningham at one point was the best player in the world, when he signed and suceeded at Real Madrid, a truely amazing footballer in awful conditions, RIP
awesome absolutely !! Thooòse were the days my friend. I thought they'd never end .those were the days oh yes those where the days !!! Take me home to the place where I belong ...
Pat Rice - not only did he lead Arsenal to the FA Cup, he also was part of three double winning teams (one as a player and two as a coach. Not to mention coaching the Invincibles.
I went to EVERY West Brom home game "that season" when I was 15, the match games atmospheres, were like a New Years Eve PARTY, in THOSE DAYS you could meet the players after the games, get their autographs, and have a real chat with them, there isnt a West Brom team player from that season that I didnt chat with, Cunningham, Regis, Robson, Bomber Brown, (and Big Ron), "I met them ALL".
@Atlantis Rising Podcast Without going back and looking, I seem to remember the song being "Some Of Them Are Old". Wonder if there was any significance?
Aye, glad you gave Kennedy a shout. Just after my time however was a Liverpool Fan in 80's (wasn't everyone (more or less). Gutted missed Emlyn Hughes times tbh
In the 1969-70 season West Ham fielded 3 Black players , Clyde Best , John Charles and John Cushley , , so WBA were not the first club to field 3 Black players
30:12 Jimmy Greenhoff was a criminally undervalued footballer. Never put in less than 110% on the field and had real skill and composure to back it up.
SOME PRETTY GIRLS THERE WEREN'T THERE?AW GIRLS! IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THESE WERE IN THE JIM CALLAGHAN AND JIMMY CARTER DAYS.THIS WAS ALL BEFORE THE MRS THATCHER DAYS AND RONALD REAGAN DAYS.FOR OUR GENERATION IT ALWAYS SEEMED THAT THOSE TWO WERE THERE FOREVER DURING OUR EARLY YEARS.I COULDN'T IMAGINE A TIME BEFORE MRS THATCHER! IN 1977 AND 78 EVEN 1975 AND 1976 THAT WAS A LONG LONG TIME BEFORE WHEN WE HADN'T EVEN HEARD OF THE LEGENDARY MRS THATCHER! ALL THOSE YEARS,MEETING PRESIDENT REAGAN!
RIP Cyrille Regis. Up there with big Lawrie Cunningham. 🙏🏻
Liverpool, Forest, & WBA were all just pure class and scary then. Amazing stuff when you look back at it.

A true trailblazer. Saw a documentary a few years ago saying his own Madrid team mates were kicking lumps out of him. Disgraceful behaviour.
Leyton Orient legend👍
@@GavinWoodsSpaniards have always been terrible racialists, as have some Italians
This was when football was not ruined by oil money
Great times.Better than now!!!
richard foster i agree
Your very wrong .
When Britain was still British and football still for working people.
What a season! So many vivid memories, but above all the sheer quality of that Liverpool side.
That Liverpool title winning team had some talent. Stars in every position!
awesome absolutely !!

that Forest team was just starting. I remember very well week after week they became invincible and feared very quickly
Pat Rice - not only did he lead Arsenal to the FA Cup, he also was part of three double winning teams (one as a player and two as a coach. Not to mention coaching the Invincibles.
That goal at derby was trademark Ray Kennedy. Absolute class
Fantastic WBA side then

Ray Kennedy was an incredible player, just brilliant.
Edit: A Brian Eno album track from 1974 was a surprise to say the least.

Just watched it again. There were a lot of players going to America at the time that were "getting on a bit".

What month did the 1978 World Cup take place? Could have sworn it was July
Si Boca hubiese jugado este campeonato, lo ganaba de punta a punta.
Bocaaaaaaa
It's Nottingham Forest not Notts Forest!!!!!!!
23:59 great goal by stevie coppell
Greenhoff scousebusting at its best
I don't think Utd fans can claim any bragging rights that season.
Emelyn Hughes - biggest plonker in English football at that period.
Who is Emelyn?
Notts County, Nottingham Forest get it right!
Where were West Ham ? oh...that's right we were shit then too 🤣⚒⚒⚒
'GET OFF THE PITCH"
Liverpool and arsenal were too much for spurs
If only women's international matches did this. They'd get better viewing figures than the men.
McNally worst ref I've ever seen makes Mike Dean look like a genius
What the hell are these people doing calling Forest "Notts" wow. Rank amateurs.
Argentina win 6-0 over peru say Argentina threatened Peru to lose with Argentina’s military

please,
My first match was the Liverpool 7-0 thrashing of Spurs....😂happy days.
