I have half of Match of the 70s on vhs and the other half on dvd. It’s a fantastic watch. Exciting on the pitch and the terraces, great music and interviews. Much more fun than football now. All narrated by Waterman. What’s there not to like!
@@zxz1 I don't know, imagine putting a modern team back then they'd be crying like babies shouting ref ref he actually touched me. Ref ref I'm muddy and cold lol today's footballers worry what there hair looks like and how much they're getting paid.
77/78Great players in all teams, I saw Kenny Dalgliesh score a brilliant 30 yard curler against Chelsea at anfield, in that season Notts Forest deserved the League Championship but NOT The League Cup, as for Revie... he walked out on England for MONEY and he was being investigated on MONEY payments to other players in other clubs...SHAM ON HIM!

Everyone was up in arms about don revie going to the UAE to chase the money but he was only doing something similar to what happens now just on a smaller scale. He was only providing financial stability for his family. Compared to today’s obscene amounts it was nothing
Don Revie was bent. Offered Bob Stokoe to throw a game for £500 when Stokoe was manager at Bury. Revie asked Stokoe to go easy on his Leeds players, being the gent he was told Revie to get stuffed! BTW Utd had a cracking attacking side in the late 70's, hated them when you lot beat us at Wembley in 77. Respect from a red.
It's the fact that he walked out on the England team. A job that Cloughie could and should have had. Sadly Forest would never have been successful but Cloughie would have won 2 World Cups instead. Spinless, gutless, faces at the FA.

Loved the twattings , loved the pitches, the passion, the proper blokes players , the music
And Nottingham forests rise to greatness 😁
Brilliant watching these football memories, and football was so much better than today's football.
football was more exciting then, watching these teams growing up but lets be honest ,they would be no match for todays standards

And King Kenny is back at Anfield and the good times could very well be around the corner again!
Peter Withe - now there's a proper footballer. He's a beast!
Joe Jordan - Malcolm Macdonald - John Wark - Peter Withe, the various stages of man to Werewolf lol
Thanks for sharing these great old memories although my beloved Burnley FC don't feature much did finish 6th in 1975
Emlyn Hughes has about as much respect for Revie as Brian Clough does.
...and??? revie was a cheat and a briber
Brian Clough "Nobody hates Don Revie as much as I do."
Emlyn Hughes "Hold my beer."
@@seanbonella And ironically Tommy Smith claimed Hughes spoke to Arsenal players about fixing a match
Outstanding ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Emlyn Hughes certainly was a fine fellow. To make a point of putting George Best above a great team mate, shows class.
brian clough what a legend the game misses him. utd with docherty would have done f all dont kid yourself.
where have all the great scottish players that used to bless the english leagues gone?
Bloody good question m8
I never get bored of seeing us beat Liverpool at OT!!
lfc still better, get over yourself pal
@@seanbonella enjoy it while you can. When Klopp goes you’ll be fucked. Bye bye.
@@seanbonella even Mane wanted out.
@alslevie1986 George Best was a better player than Dalglish no question. Dalglish himself would probably admit it.
a french club like St ettiene had cockney fans then? lol

@navieedful No, he is Viv Anderson (first black player to play with England)
You can't be certain from that tiny bit what his views are.

Is that from Irvine Welsh or something? 😁
@1:12 the black player,is that Justin Fashanu!!??
Viv Anderson.
that was 1981
Ha!
Surprising how bitter Hughes is about Revie,or maybe not
cloughie said it when he told the leeds players you won by cheating ie rewvie giving backhanders to managers...well documented but never admitted
Leeds were a great side an should have won more. Hughes bit of a prick when it came to revie

Don revie was a treacherous fcuker who deserves no sympathy.Just like the greedy fcukers today.
