I remember The FA Cup game watching It With My Dad, which United won as the crow flies. My older brothers were both Leeds fans but discovred the saviour of English Football. Eric, an Icon!
Hannibal Barca I remember when John Barnes became the first £10,000 a week player in the late 80’s, early 90’s and people couldn’t believe it!! I would say it changed at the end of the 93/94 season because that was the end of the terraces in the top 2 leagues. That was the beginning of the end as they say.
Agree. The last 15 seasons of the old League Division One 14 different clubs were aong the top three, including the likes of Watford, Ipswich, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Sheffield W, QPR. The first 15 seasons of the Premier League only 7 different clubs among top 3. Would have stayed at only 5 (five!!!) if Spurs and mainley Leicester chocked the world of football in 2016. The top division was much more interesting in those old days. Furthermore, it was definitely more British.
john malakos I totally agree. Although the first season of the premier league 92/93 was still the same as football was before. It was after that season that football ended. It certainly did for me anyway.
single handedly is a bit OTT think you'll find the Leeds team was very good. Man United had Giggs, Kanchelskis, Hughes, Ince, Schmeichel they werent to shabby tbf.
wow somehow my brain recognised that the audio from the 15:10 - 15:14 clip is used as ambient noise in a video game i played a long time ago. fifa 11 i think
Stone me, Wednesday's best season in 30 years and barely a mention. They were in the title race with 4 games to go but you wouldn't know it watching this.
Sheffield Wednesdsay stood out more in season 1992-93. Your point I think is a fair one although it is well known Leeds and Manchester United have a bitter rivalry and they get much more attention.
Waddle, hinchcliff, woods, Palmer, Hirst , off the top of my head ,great team back in the day, still got the shiny sticker somewhere from pannini album , my secret second team. From an old Chelsea fan
JUst a few foreigners then wasn;t there? I can remember Arsenal had Anders Limpar, Man Utd had Peter Schmeichel, LIverpool had Jan Molby and Ronnie Rosenthal, Wednesday had John Harkes and Rolan Nilsson, Tottenham had Nayim, Leeds had Eric Cantona at end of season, Villa had Dwight Yorke. Probably a few others
Then came the Premier league, where everything is Premiere, tickets, wages, TV prize money etc. The naills Started to be hammered in the coffins of many English clubs, Everton, wednesday, Wimbledon, Coventry, Luton, forest, millwall, QPR and many others... so that a selected few could eat all the Cake.
They were in the top division that seeason, (after being promoted the year before0.. Managed by Colin. Got relegated, and haven't returned to thos eheights ever since
Proof to Man United fans that football did actually exist before 1992 and not just on the anniversary of why you are famous...when your airplane crashed and Bobby Charlton unfortunately wasn't killed.
After watching 2 decades of this program finally nice to see our Wednesday back in it !
I remember The FA Cup game watching It With My Dad, which United won as the crow flies. My older brothers were both Leeds fans but discovred the saviour of English Football. Eric, an Icon!
Thanks for uploading love this series
this was the last ever season of the old first division, great itv coverage back then, miss those days.
I agree. Football was so much more entertaining and passionate then.
ITV had stepped up their covreage considerably by this time, (showing more games live) and then the Premier League came along.
Nevertheless probbaly my favourite football season,. I was only a teenager at the time, so that's probably part of it!
Gutted it cuts out before the end, used to love this show, the music too, absolutely brilliant
The season before football sold it's soul to sky tv

Yet just think if the BBC or itv had outbid sky and won the rights.
‘Sky tv’ is one name for them.... 🤣🤣

@@difleafs 1991-92 was the season when football died.

Would you feel the same if someone with a fat bank account came in for your team. No? Thought not.
Gordon Strachan , probably, the only one player beloved by both Leeds and Man.Utd supporters
And one of Fergie's go-to guts at Aberdeen!
He was a super player, that big mop of red hair that appeared to be almost as big as him scooting down the sidelines.
1991/92 the last great season before the plastics ruined the game
cantona single handedly decided the champion of from 91-92 season all the way til 96-97 season. Can't find anyone that influential now.
United won it 5 times in four years. The season they lost to Blackburn, Cantona was banned
Definitely not in Stretford for sure.

Made even better with a couple appearances on the soundtrack from Nirvana 🙏🏻

There should be a Match of the 00s documentary.
Anyone knows where I could get episodes 1989-90 and 1990-1991
You've missed off the "Brolin - Dalihn - Brolin - RAWHIDE!" bit
Stone me, Wednesday's best season in 30 years and barely a mention. They were in the title race with 4 games to go but you wouldn't know it watching this.
That's because no one has heard of them.
@@db0800no one's heard of one of the oldest teams in the world Sheffield Wednesday get a grip son.

Oh well

RIP the Bald Eagle Jim Smith
Saunders would probably cancelled for the Barnes impression today lol
Not even sure if you'd get away with calling Dwight Yorke the Calypso Kid!
The clock end in the semi final when anderton scored that’s what football should be like
For God's sake why is there football interrupting the adverts?
plus im here for the tunes for a spotify playlist
In the days before the top flight turned into a league full of continentals and steve bruce still talked geordie

Roy Wegerle was another - at Chelsea then? He'd been in Englnd for a fair while by this time.
Raves ecstacy football great times in the 90s

Wilkinson on winning the league title: I was left sitting in the dining room ..... uhm ... on my own ...
17:35 same old Arsenal fans. Never change do they
I'm only at 8 minutes but yeah I know what you mean.
Athelstan Edwardson Calm down big man .
Why do they get these tedious Marky Marks from?
Gar Sm good question
Radcliffe wasn't bad, it's that gurning, funny as a fucking funeral twat next to him.
You kinda forget cantona was at Leeds
Played 6 a side for Sheffield Wednesday as well. Just before Leeds.
4:47 Notts County? Dream on. Think they meant Forest or the editor was a County fan having a laugh
They were in the top division that seeason, (after being promoted the year before0.. Managed by Colin. Got relegated, and haven't returned to thos eheights ever since
Bugger me, I didn’t know that. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.
Dennis Waterman done a much better version
Surprised they didn’t get Gary Webster in to do it.
yh this feels poorly produced.
He did the eighties
Eric the King
Pompey should have won the FA Cup. And can't tell you how much I hate Ryan Giggs.
Arsenal let Andy Cole go because he got caught nicking from the dressing room.
Source?
.........and went on to win shit loads of trophies at man united and score over 250 goals in his career !
Then went on to win a shit load of trophies
No, it was because Andrew and Gorgeous George didn't get on. Attitude clashes galore.
Is Robson drunk
Why is he leaning to the right
Brian is drunk by default
Who are these two muppet presenters? Awful.
girl says oh i kissed giggs on the lips....
now he assaults them girls.
The 2 worst presenters in the world........EVER
God yes.
So shit.
Glad it finished
