Interesting to see Archie Gemmill scoring a great goal for Forest. He was one of the first established stars Tommy Doc got rid of at Derby, claiming he was finished and he could not run, flogging him to Forest very cheaply ... when he clearly still had some very good years left in him. The Doc must be one of the most reviled managers the Rams every had.

Iconic goal and I'm a United fan. Forest's achievements under Cloughie in the '70s were probably the greatest ever considering the stature of the club at the time.
Along with Colin Todd, Charlie George, Bruce Rioch, Colin Boulton, Kevin Hector, Leighton James, Rod Thomas, Peter Daniel and Graham Moseley. The speed with which the first team was dismantled and players signed made training difficult with which to practice tactics for forthcoming matches. By the time DCFC had narrowly avoided relegation in May 1979, Docherty jumped ship for QPR.
Bad editing in the Liverpool sequence. It makes out that Graeme Souness was bought after the Coventry game, when he was signed three and a half weeks before that, and actually played in the Coventry game. Souness signed on 10/01/1978 and Coventry game on 04/02/1978. Manchester United game was on 25/02/1978.
forest achievement wont be matched...league 2 winners, then first div champions then 2 european cups....astounding. plus a league cup and beating lfc too
Match of The 80s was a separate series, presented by Danny Baker, made a year or two after Match of the 70s. I did tape them at the time, but unfortunately don't have them on tape anymore.
RUclips removed all the sound from it, for 'copyright' reasons (it contained about 20 seconds of Carly Simon's 'Nobody Does It Better'!). I plan to remove that segment and re-post it in two shorter parts. The last two episodes I will post in the next week or so.
Leeds v Man City: Fans at Leeds came on at 2-0, Leeds scored a penna with about a minute to go. That was the game McQueen chinned Dave Harvey and then got sold to Man Utd a few days later. Should have got rid of Harvey 🤷🏼♂️
Ows about that then jingle jangle jewelry, got a letter from a young lady, wants to meet her Forest heroes. Well then ladies and gentlemen, eeuuuuuurrrrgggggghhhhh, the Forest players are in the back of my van.
I forgot to say...typical Leeds and Millwall scum... as for the England Italy game at Wembley does anybody remember it being Live O.M.G. My mums friend went away on holiday and she let us use her COULOR T.V.! So good memories (first Colour home viewing) although we had to score 3 goals, we only made 2.
Don't know why ppl talk about Leicester in the same breath as Forest. Basically no comparison, Forest achievements are significantly superior.
Wow... What a Waste by Ian Durry & The Blockheads during Coventry-Liverpool, I'd completely forgotten this song so thanks for the memories !
Always thought about the ticket man in Fulham Broadway Station.

Then busy shagging man U coaches wife
Newspaper article in the background 7:16 “They’re animals - I’d take a flame thrower to them” by Ipswich Manager Bobby Robson. Best Quote Ever!
Football was so equal back then. Each team had an equal chance to compete for the title, unlike now.

you ever get around to 77 78 p4 ... seem a shame for it not to be there
This was the Leeds / City game where Gordon McQueen belted his own goalkeeper David Harvey in the mouth. Both got a stern talking to ha ha

Is that the world's first mobile phone that Peter Taylor is on right at the end of this video? I thought they didn't come out till the nineties
Great games, Lpool v utd, wba v forest, Coventry v Lpool

Liverpool spent almost a million pounds that year and still couldn't beat Forest.

One of the 'hooligans' had a blanket wrapped round him. Bless!!!

They shouldn't have included a clip of Jimmy Saville. Disgraceful.
