  • Finally we were able to take the car around the block and hit wide open throttle on the Boosted D16Y8. Swapped out the wastegate spring for a 4psi spring. I also forgot and had to regap the plugs…😄

    If you don't mind how much did going turbo run you? Mainly for the turbo, intercooler, oil lines, BOV and wastegate

    What should be the healthy pressure for the original engine?

    • @CJBuilt
      @CJBuilt  7 месяцев назад +1

      You mean as in boost pressure?
      To be safe, on a turbo this size I would stay around 7psi.
      You can shoot for 10PSI but that does begin pushing the limits depending on how you drive it and how the tune is.
      7-8PSI is a fair middle ground of fun and safety.
      On a smaller turbo you can probably get to 10PSI without an issue.
      PSI is not the concern, it is the power the car outputs.
      Bigger turbo = more hp per PSI
      Smaller turbo = less hp per PSI
      Hope this helps!

    I just started getting back into building another but turbo this , i have 96 y8 but i cant remember what ecu i need if im going turbo for tuning ? Any help would be appreciated sir .

    • @CJBuilt
      @CJBuilt  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey how’s it going!
      You will need to go OBD1, since it is a Y8 you’ll need a vtec ecu.
      P28 is a popular one that’s a go to for a VTEC ecu.
      You’ll just need a jumper harness to convert the obd2 plugs to the obd1.
      Any questions let me know!

    Man I need a manifold a/c friendly 😢

    • @CJBuilt
      @CJBuilt  7 месяцев назад

      They sell some that are A/C friendly, just may need to notch the block a little or route the turbo in the reverse way than I did. I tuned a car not too long ago with an A/C turbo manifold
