    I am a physically active 81 year old retired professor and consultant. I've solved a number of pain problems for both me and my wife, by viewing your tutorials (Back, Achilles, Thigh and others).This time it's my left thumb (I'm left handed). I felt i'd better give you the credit you deserve. Now, i will begin the thumb exercises from this video.You really deserve kudos and a big thank you for your expertise, and for the very palatable way you present it. RUclips is a wonderful resource, and your work is an excellent example of what it can do. Thank you again.

    I have a swollen arthritic thumb that hurts too much when I try to do most of these. I've been icing it and gently massaging, plus stretching as far as I can handle it. At first I thought it was a tendon injury, so I kept it wrapped for 4 mos., then went to a hand surgeon that gave me a cortisone shot and instructed me to gradually start using it again. I am almost 80, and the goin' is sure tough! Thank you guys!

    Thank you so much! I've had thumb pain for over a year now. I've searched you tube for exercises, and have found quite a bit. But none of them helped. I did the exercises that you shared here, and pain is going away. I can't express how thankful I am. Please keep the videos coming:-)

      @@lilianwoo5028 i might be late here. squeeze with the palm of your fingertips(u know what i mean, the padded part) and press them like you are trying to not let ur bone move. Then flex the bone above the one which u are holding

    I had thumb pain for over a week (I think from massaging my son's back). I did the Mulligan Technique as shown in the video and IMMEDIATELY afterwards, my thumb felt better! Amazing! Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge!

    Thank you Bob and Brad I literally had woken up with severe thumb pain it was giving me a lot of grief during the day I watched your video and attempted doing the exercises you were demonstrating and the by the end of your video the pain had subsided dramatically and instantly by 90% thank you so much I’ll be doing them daily from now on ❤

    I'd been having mild pain in my thumb for months now and the mulligan technique gave me almost immediate relief. I will definitely be using these exercises regularly, especially before starting work, which has been aggravating it the most.

    For about 18 months my thumb would go weak and hurt real bad in certain positions. After doing that mulligan technique it feels good as new in a week! Thanks so much guys 🙏

    thanks I had severe pain in my thumb due to excessive cracking of it and it affects my studies

    Thanks for the workout on the thumb because I’m having stiff thumb in the night. When doing this exercise is it have to do both hands I meant the thumb coz the other hand is good.

    I wish i had found you guys earlier, the va diagnosed carpal tunnel in both hands
    My complaint each time I saw them over the years was pained trigger finger(s)
    Injection worked great but they won't do any more than 3 inections per hand
    I had open surgery for carpal tunnel 4 weeks ago, there was no change in my trigger finger and overall swollen feeling in the hand. After watching you guys, i am convinced that cutting that transverse ligament was a mistake.
    Oh well, it is done, I am scheduled for preop consult for the other hand in 2 days. Based on my experience with the left hand I will cancel that surgery at the preop appointment.
    I wake up every morning with bent/painful finger(s) along with a swollen feeling in both hands, mainly the trigger and now the middle some times.
    Strangely enough, if I wear a hand and wrist brace to sleep , I wake up with extremely pained and swollen fingers. That situation will last a day or mre. I can only think that I am trying to curl my fingers against the brace ALL night, lol.
    Anyhow, thats my story, if you have any other suggestions for PT would appreciate it. thank you for all that you do.

    My thumb is so hurt for a week. I tried to crack it but it just makes the pain worse. I even think to take an Xray but after did this exercise one time, I feel so much better. Thank you so much.

    Man does it hurt to do these exercises! I will try tho. Glad I found this tonight as my thumb pain has gotten soooo bad this past week. Anti- inflamatories or pain pills don't help much. Hope these exercises work.

    Seems to help my thumb. I couldn’t stop popping uncontrollably and purposely without even thinking about it. It’s been driving me crazy but I’m going to keep doing these exercises and see if it fixes the problem I hope so.

    Do you have any exercises for the thumb mussel which is on the palm side of the hand.
    My problem is not in the joint, but appears to be in the mussel.
    When I rub the mussel it is tender and I have problems gripping / pinching objects.

    What if the joint that hurts is the knuckle closest to the thumb nail? No one seems to address that. Pain there is keeping me from being able to use my hand.

    My problem was maybe skier's thumb - the basal joint - I had suspected the UCL tendon, although nothing showed on an ultrasound. 4 months after the minor fall it's still sensitive. Dr. said its only age related arthritis. I'm not sure.

    I'm a registered massage therapist, and love these tops for my patients.
    My thumbs and forearms hurt like crazy after work (I know i shouldn't use my hands so much, but because lately I have too many clients with small areas where I cant use my elbow, I have to use my hands, thumbs), was wondering if theres any tips to reduce this pain or how I can do some home care for myself.     I have been diagnosed with early arthritis of the thumb, at the base and it is effecting my motion as it gets very painful at times. Does the pain ever go away or do I have to now live with it? right now I have full motion but at certain angles it is tremendous pain. is there anything i should stop doing? which excersizes should i do and how often? i am using Voltren and a thumb brace but doubt it is doing much.

    At a physically active and spry woman of 69 I decided to help a wheel chair bound neighbor with a cherry walk to the library with gradual hills. My body and cardio system no problem but my left thumb has been in horrible pain at the lower joint and up my arm still two weeks later. I used to push both my parents much larger around but that ended age 42. Once enough pain subsides your advice will be a great help to me. But who can get this brain of mine to stop thinking I'm still in my late twenties?

    Helps alot.. Use my fingers probably 24 hrs a day tbh, it practice the piano, guitar use my pc 8hrs play my phone and started practicing rubics cube 4 sets of a hand gripper suddenly my thumb hurts after practicing my cube for 4 hrs but this helps thank youu

    I was just diagnosed with basal thumb arthritis, an LRIT was suggested. I've opted for the injection instead for now. I'm a jeweler so this is really messing with me. Will these exercises help or exacerbate the condition?
