Two words.....Battle Scar. This was a collaboration song between two of Canada's best bands in 1980. Max Webster & Rush. It was written by Max Webster (Kim Mitchel-music, Pye Dubois-lyrics [who co-wrote Tom Sawyer with Neil Peart]) and performed by all 7 musicians. 2 guitars, 2 bass, 2 drums & 1 keyboard. All musicians have such a unique playing style/sound that it's easy to pick out who is playing what. It was recorded live in the studio with all of them present, which is why it rocks so hard.
I would prefer Band-Maid & The Warning do something similar, be all together if/when recording the song. Not have one record their part in a studio and have the other do it in another studio, then mix the two together. Ideas work better when your face to face.
As far as writing the music is concerned, that's a tough one (I'm on the Kanami side only because of how she thinks outside the box musically). Lyrics will depend on which audience you are trying to reach. All English lyrics would reach a wider audience (especially for Band-Maid).
And we all have to remember, this wouldn't be a competition, it would be a collaboration.
Just my two sense. Thanks for listening.

I trust Kanami's mastery of complexity through the way she works with a score like a classical composer. There is no reason whatsoever why they should not all play at once.
How many violins, violas and cellos do you have in a chamber orchestra?
The Warning know that Kanami's arrangement skills are next level, these are pros. Also obviously Pau is very well placed to do English lyrics. These are both friends and professionals. There will be no clashing egos, among the stans obviously but they're immune to that.
The Warning work closely with a producer, but if the legendary Tony Visconti defers to Kanami's production skill he can step aside and maybe help with the final master where they always defer to an independent specialist.
I think the fact they're women will smooth the process too. Bandmaid have been together for a decade and run like a well oiled machine, I expect The Warning are the same, this is a skillset too. There are so many great lineups with a lot of percussion. The original Santana for starters.
Likewise both bands work with multiple voices in unison and harmony. This is all just technique.
There again both drummers compose carefully and thus using a score and drum machine they can craft what they want. I'd like to see achi on the Timbales given her tom skills.

Fair point there. Although I can't speak for all the commentors, myself I am mainly addressing this because I think it is the most interesting possible outcome, and not one that would even be that hard to imagine happening. Collaboration songs are a big thing these days and are great for the profile of both artists, so I would have to imagine the record companies would be very much behind something like that which would provide a more long term benefit from a meeting that is already going to happen. So I think it is absolutely worth considering, if not only for the pure interest of it, but also as it has to be an option they would be encouraged towards.

@@ApexRadius The Warning have several features in their contract that allow them creative freedom. IDK about BM's contract, but based on their music selection, I wouldn't be surprised if they also have creative freedom. Getting both recording companies to agree to a collab is a complex arrangement in a business sense, but I'm sure all that would be worked out well in advance. I also think they might compose a song together and record it as a live performance, creating a music video in the process. The Warning tour with a videographer/producer who is one of their team and it's easy enough to assemble a group of professionals for the camera work anywhere in the world. The equipment isn't different between Mexico and Japan, after all. The Warning's collab with Aslessia Cara on the reimagined Enter Sandman was accomplished, soup to nuts, in a week. So doing a song together with two bands, though more complex for writing all the parts, is something I'm sure both bands have the creative chops to accomplish in 12 days.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 3 месяца назад

@@elgonwilliams7624 Of course, anything's possible. Live collaboration actually seems most likely to me. B-M has had multi-camera crews at four of their last five shows, so, whoever does the video production, it's easily covered.
B-M seems to have total creative control with Pony Canyon. But, as you mentioned, there's always business that has to happen between labels/management teams.
When people start talking about them being on each other's albums they're getting further into wild speculation (I get it, it's fun). It's simply more complicated to make that happen. Pau mentioned it took a long time and a lot of effort just to make this show happen. Could she be playing possum and they've been planning to spring something all along? Sure. But folks are assuming something big as if it's inevitable. They might be disappointed. We'll just have to see what they've been up to when the time comes. It'll be soon.

If they do perform a joint song, which I think is likely (though no guarantees it'll be a new song), I don't think it'd be too difficult to make the numbers work. Kanami has already written a lot of songs, including the entire Band-Maiko EP, that would need >>5 musicians to perform live without a click-track. Gacharic Spin and Wagakki Band have shown that two drummers can improve a song. The trickiest part would normally be the bass, but the two bands have such different approaches to the instrument that it would be natural for Ale to do the traditional bassist's role and set Misa completely free to add the colour that she often does anyway. If necessary, I'm sure Miku would be delighted to put down her guitar for a song and they could have a lot of to and fro with the vocals.

I'm glad you've been listening to The Warning's music. You're right, they really know how to smash out an arena thumping track. I do still take issue with your issue, though. I feel the "bass and guitar playing the same riff at the same time" is only true on some tracks and I think the reason so many bands (especially 3-piece bands) do it, is it fills out the sound more and keeps things going when the guitarist switches riffing for soloing.
Speaking of solos.... YES! YES!! YES!!! Give me many solos!!!
One thing I think you missed though, is that Pau, like Miku does a LOT of vocals. Not just backing, but lead also. You have 4 vocalists in this collaboration. Giving Pau some vocals and not just drums would solve one potential problem.

As for solos, I wasn't aware you were such a solo man!!! You continue to surprise me!
Also, yes, I saw the Pau comments coming up and you are totally right. I think though that I was thinking of that in a similar light to how Miku is a vocalist, and I would love to see her sing in the song, but given that we already have two lead vocalists at work, I would more see that as a pleasant addition rather than her core role in any collaboration.
      Keys keys keys ;)

Your giddiness is contagious! The solution, of course, is a blues song. The chord structure is already worked out; there's nothing to decide except the key and the turn-around, write some couplets, and decide who takes the next solo (and in true blues fashion, no one knows until they look at each other). But neither band really does blues so ignore that. The Warning is a power trio where they fill up the room with simplicity and Band-Maid fills the room with density. It will be interesting to see what they do. No shade intended to anyone (like, in the history of music), Kanami Tōno is a rare bird when it comes to composition. Give her a couple of ideas and she'll figure it out.
An aside. The video from the media area at Aftershock makes Ale look like a giant compared to everyone else! It may be the camera lens and angle, but still ... what a striking woman. Between her and MISA, they will have the best-looking bass section in the history of rock music; Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, and John Paul Jones included. We'll leave Dusty Hill out of the discussion, LOL.

Thank you! Yes indeed as well, anyone who offers the possibility of a collaboration leading to something neither fanbase expected, is very much speaking my language lol!
Louder rock music can somewhat limit the sonic space available, and as much as we all want to see them rock out for the energy, and the appropriateness of that to their established sounds, I would certainly be first in line if things took on a blues tinge. The Warning nailing a core, whilst Band-Maid paint colour between the notes, this would be an interesting listen for sure! Thanks for the lovely comment!

Those are two VERY DIFFERENT bands.
The Warning is three, very talented, but rather ordinary sisters that write good music, plays and sing well and are very good at stage presence. They rock catchy and powerful songs. They are also very beautiful. Some of their songs is a bit more pop. Personally I listen to The Warning when I want straight rock with power. They are brilliant, one of the best thing that has happened for many years.
BAND-MAID is a group of goofy girls that has made one of the best rock bands on the planet. They write very different songs. Complex and good. Not so much catchy and powerful. Rather just interesting and good rock, on the border of prog rock, mixed with some pop singing. They also play around on the scena and do guitar and bass battles and other stuff. They have long concerts with diverse things around, like Miku doing her crazy stuff with the audience, while the rest is chilling. They also have some killer instrumentals where they show their skills. Even though The Warning has more power, BAND-MAID has more chops.
Now, if they like each other and the chemistry is right and they got the time, this might be magic. Both BAND-MAID and The Warning have shown that they are capable of writing killer songs in no time at all. It is Kanami that i the super composer in BAND-MAID, I think it might be Pau in The Warning, but I am not sure. Lyrics might be tough though 😁

And yes, this is a part of their charm. I saw an interview made by Herman Lee from Dragonforce of Kanami and Miku. Kanami asked how fast the fastest Dragonforce song was, and Herman said 220 BPM. Good point, and this is always a great concern.
Obviously, I enter this conversation myself very much on one side of things, but I would feel pretty dissapointed if anyone purely hated on the collaboration for happening, or the other side for just being there. Of course no one has to like something just because their favourite band or fandom likes it, but anyone who starts to treat it like a tribal conflict clearly doesn't understand music. This is why in my graphic I took time to put both bands on the same team 😂👍
As you so well said, their is joy to be had here. Joy is what they want to spread, and joy is all anyone needs to take from it, discussion is a nice way to understand it, and anything else probably just isn't worth bothering with .

Mixing two complete bands musically does not make sense. I've seen similar in the past which sometimes ends in a messy chaos. So, I'm hoping that it only means sharing a show. So no recordings.

As a fan of both bands, I'm excited to hear what they come up with. - I think it'll be good for both to appeal to one another's fans also. - As to what they produce, it could be anything. - I think a collaboration in writing would be the foundation. How they arrange it will be the most interesting aspect. There is a lot of talent there.... Maybe a Warning-ish song, with a Japanese verse, and all three vocalists sparring, back and forth, or just all three vocalists singing in harmony, then add in some little solos by each remaining member would be the final outcome.

Whatever happens I think both acts will be much enriched by working the other, whatever the outcome. - and let's not forget that bands have a team of people on the other side of the glass to bounce ideas off. I’m a Warning fan because they started their journey in a hard way being just a three persons band. The Band Made have more than five members and of course they sound more full than the Warning, or they just were? The new album of the Warning proves that they learned their lessons from producers and sound Engineers and sound awsom. I’m not worried about loosing their own style during collaborating with others, actually those few new songs will lift them to the stratosphere in rock which they deserve it for 100%.

    • @ApexRadius

Yeah, for sure, but take it with a grain of salt. There's been an uptick in silly sniping and across several bands' fan bases recently---and a few professional trolls intentionally whipping up trouble between them.
There have been a few from TW's base going after B-M for some odd reason. It's as if they can't deal with any other band getting attention. (There's another fanbase who's growing notorious for that kind of behavior.) And there have been a few B-M fans who are also getting silly, which is a little unusual. But there's always a few.
It's perfectly fine for someone to say he/she prefers a particular band but, jeez, keep it civil. And sometimes it's better not to say anything at all. Most of these people are more than old enough to know better.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 6 месяцев назад +4

@@scottlafleur4148 I'm sorry, I'm not sure I follow your point. Correct me if I'm on the wrong track.
Online it doesn't really matter where the bands are from. People get tribal. B-M actually has quite a substantial international fanbase. They actually first gained traction in N.America and Europe, not Japan. They're built steadily and incrementally in Japan and are only relatively recently playing bigger shows there.
And although there's a very active Japanese rock and metal scene, it's still very niche. Pop rules, just like everywhere else. B-M is one of a few rock/metal artists from there who've actually established a presence overseas.
So I suppose the primary overlap between them and TW is that they're young women playing some brand of hard rock. It seems that a minority of too-invested fans imagine them being in some fierce competition, especially since both have fan bases in N. America and Europe (some of which is shared, obviously).
I understand there's a lot of TW fans who have followed them since they were kids, so I get it to a degree. And there are a number of B-M fans who have been following them since they were playing to half-empty basement clubs. Both of them are somewhat unlikely successes, so some people are rooting just a little too hard for their team.
The thing is, I'm pretty sure all the members of each band don't see it that way at all. They're clearly trying to help each other.
      (Sorry for the length.)

Among the discussions the community have had was the suggestion that they would do a cover version of a song by some other band. It makes sense. But if indeed they have time to get together record an original song and shoot a video then we have to start out with heavy bass and drums. Then leap into twin guitars and follow up by twin vocals with the emotional backing vocal from Miku. It will be heavy, loud and quick with no time to breathe and finishing with a crescendo of sound with twin bass and drums.Statues will at last be built in every major city of the World depicting the time they first met. There will be World Peace and money will cease as a form of slavery.......I feel I may be setting myself up for disappointment. But let there be hope.

I would perhaps recommend Memorable for being an acoustic number, and Bubble as another rock song but with a focus on building up from start to crescendo, but absolutely you don't have to like something just because other people do, and as I am assuming you are a WARNING fan, I hope that any potential collaboration at least gives you something fun to checkout :)

Why have 2 drummers. Pau can do vocals, leaving the gorilla in her natural element. Don't forget kanami is great at arranging complex things without cluttering it up. Even though there is no way I could be there for this concert, the amount of energy these 2 bands give off would be magical.

It is not an easy song to listen to. But it gets better and better each time when you find more and more cool stuff. I am not sure if it scales to 8 persons.

My thoughts on BAND-MAID & THE WARNING is focused on their performance together this June 12th. I think each band should offer an original and have both bands perform those two songs together. It would present some cool possibilities in arrangements and, most likely, have a fuller sound. Which songs? I trust the eight musicians' choices better than my own. Nice job, Baka. Thank you.

So i am totally in TWA, DPA forever. I have yet to warm to BandMaid (was gonna go BM, but that's just wrong). TW Songs are usually sonically complete, which is why they adhere to the mind; not just a hook but as a whole. The whole song is a hook, if you will. And, they understand that leaving space in between sounds is just as important as the notes themselves. DPA all can kill instrumental work. But, leaving room for tasty, memorable fiils makes you await them and appreciate them more.
That said the one part if the admittedly limited B-M music i have listened to that i really have liked, is the bass work. REALLY liked. Like Asterism, like Lovebites..
Musr be the old bassist in me. Or the Geddy lover.
So, i don't see much of a meaningful collab. But these folks are uber talented, so...who knows?
BTW do i remember one of DPA sayng they would love to work Willow? THAF would be cool.

These are 8 very talented and creative musicians. They do different things and do them extremely well. I don’t see any hint of egoism in any of them, so I’m betting they can, if they collaborate, get those musical differences to be complimentary, and not clash.

Well said! I agree that on a personality level, they don't give off the signs of being people who would bulldoze in to a collaboration and make a mess, but it will be interesting how each of them finds their voice and who takes control of what. Certainly though, they seem like a very pleasant bunch of talented creatives to share a room, and I hope they have a blast in the process 😊!

Dany taking solos? She doesn't do solos normally. What seems like a solo today turns up again note for note the same the next day. I'm not saying she can't compose an original solo on the fly, but that that's not her habit. Also, understand that they have a different fan base and TW fans don't go to their concerts hoping to bask in their instrumental prowess. They go there to hear the songs they love played just like they were on RUclips or the album or wherever it is they go to replay them.

@@BakaBroadcast I'm not talking about your lineup. I'm explaining another reason why we may not hear Dany playing a solo. The Warning is not a flash band. All of the members of Band Maid are monsters on their instruments. Heck, Akane is more than just a pretender to Neil Peart's throne. That's their forte, TW's is songwriting. TW writes one song after another you can sing in the shower. I wouldn't even try that with 99% of Band Maid's songs. I'm interested to see how well they blend. I'm sure it'll be great because both bands want it to happen.

The Warning occupy a different rock space, and their songs are so easy to love. Also, for me, if QOTMS was the only album they’d ever made, I’d still love them forever. @@interstellardave Even if you spoke Japanese, I'm not sure you'd find anything like the hooks TW puts in every single song. It's their superpower. @@thsc9119Well Band Maid songs stick in my head all the time. The rhythms and melodies are often contagious. At least as contagious as they can be with the complex dense arrangements they are now producing. A lot of people say the same so it’s in the ear of the beholder. As a fan of both bands I think both are very complete in every area. I think anything either band may “lack” is simply because they haven’t done it, not because they can’t.

Both drummers are top notch, but both drummers are also eccentric, they do not play ordinary stuff. I love them both because they are so hard to predict. Its not simple chugga chugga chugga. It is big arm movements and surprising bass drum fills and delicious syncopations and stick fills. It is just pure entertainment. And the are both in contact with the audience, a rare treat among drummers.

If you believe that arranging is The Warning's so-called "weak point", then you're either not aware of their 2018 concept album, "Queen Of The Murder Scene", haven't heard any of its tracks or both.
There are some VERY complex song arrangements on the album. Seriously, listen to its title track, "Queen Of The Murder Scene", and "The One" and "The Sacrifice". Those three songs are the best examples of The Warning's high-level, complex-arrangement abilities.
Educate yourself. Then, you will hopefully completely change your mind about the girls' complete lack of ANY songwriting weaknesses whatsoever. You're welcome in advance!

    • @BakaBroadcast
      @BakaBroadcast  6 месяцев назад +1

Thanks for the comment. I did check out the Queen Of The Murder Scene, and it was an interesting one but, as much as it rocked, left me in a rather similar place. The breakdown of the descending bass line as the guitar picked above made for an interesting moment, but it mostly reinforced how I had felt about the Warning previously. I think they do good stonking headbangers, but it did still feel rather thin on arrangement for me.
That is ok though. I mean, my biggest disagreement with you is perhaps the idea that any band has no weaknesses whatsoever. Every band does, even the greatest legends of any artform, they all have their relative weaknesses within their skill set, and most of them are driven by the creative desire to improve upon them. Then again, obviously, no band or fandom is under any obligation to agree on what those weaknesses are, as art has the joy of being subjective, but for me I would consider arrangement to be the area where I would love to see more of The Warning.
Thank you though for the suggestion, I did check it out and enjoyed the music! 😊🙏

In comparison and my opinion after hearing some songs of band maid the japenese girls are pretty cool, but it sounds a little bit more like playing against each other than together. Their compositions are almost overloaded and doesn't let room for each other to shine with their special skills.
I have to admiit that I've been warned and since then I'm totally addicted by the (in my opinion) new gold standard of all time rock music: With band maid I have instantly several ideas how to arrange their songs differently to get more out of it. With the Villarreal sisters I'll be alway the little child again with mouth wide open that can't belief what it's witnessing - every single note, every little sequence... all of it is at its perfect place, perfectly played brillant composed It doesn't have to be less, but it also doesnt have to be more - it's just on the point- I'm into music since I was ten - that's 43 years ago now and I saw and heard alot and wrote about it for several music magazines - but I've never seen anything comparable to these three girls.
