  • Dysphoria isn't always apparent, especially if you are coming to terms with your gender identify a little later in life.
I didn't know what it was. It wasn't until I started looking back over my past that I was able to pin point moments of discomfort and realise that I now had a word for it.
Sometimes we don't have the language to express what we are feeling, we can't see ourselves in a narrative we don't feel we lived, but it doesn't mean it wasn't there.
During this video I talk about my own "Dormant Dysphoria", sift through a few examples in my past that started to make sense and discuss Amanda Roman's article "Gender Desire vs. Gender Identity".
If you know someone who has come out as questioning or are wondering why you/they didn't see it coming, maybe they did but they didn't know how to express it. Maybe because it wasn't life and death they didn't feel valid enough to talk about it or maybe their journey from desire to identity took a bit longer.
    Thanks for watching.
