We are going through this with my oldest child, I keep trying to find resources that are middle ground and not extreme one way or the other, haven't found any yet, so our main approach is to lead with love. As things came to a head and started falling apart for him, we are focusing on better mental health. I felt inspired to drop everything, suspend all phone and internet activity, and go on a month long family vacation before my child enters residential treatment for his mental health struggles, he'll have a long break from the situation, friends, and society in general that has led to much of the turmoil in his life, I just love how at the end of the interview the remedy suggested was to unplug and get away which is exactly what we are doing! We pray for the youth who are struggling so much right now, this is such a difficult world to grow up in.
If I were you, I’d be careful letting your son go into the mental healthcare as a resident. I’ve been on that rollercoaster, and believe me it doesn’t help, and once you are on, it is soooo difficult to get off🥺
Definitely do your research on the facility. I am a nurse who worked in mental health. I have some experience with teens. These drugs are not good for these kids. It is difficult to get off them, particularly SSRIs. These facilities are not always very transparent. Consider outpatient if possible. Best wishes for your family.
Oh its so true, residential can be very difficult. This is a very different type of residential, based on Native American principals, non punitive, helping them find what their personal values, morals, and goals are. He was at an eating disorder residential clinic earlier in the year, and whereas he is weight restored it was not a good place and I've really learned a lot about what to look for, what questions to ask, and I have been so prayerful in searching for the right solution that will truly help and not just teach compliance through coercion. And I agree that SSRI's are not very helpful and can be rather dangerous, we finally allowed them as a hope that they could be a bandaid solution on the road to recovery.
@@raylingomen2562 Speaking from experience, I’ve been on many types of these drugs, they are no bandaid. Please trust me on that. I can hear you are God fearing people. Prayer to Almighty God and reading his word the Bible are where you are going to get the most help. I will pray for you and your family🙏🏾🙏🙏🏿🙏🏽
Oh absolutely, I have felt my Heavenly Father leading me to what is needed for my son, and keep pleading for assistance along the way. Sometimes a bandaid solution looks different, appeasing an ex husband, showing my son I'm willing to bend my natural ways in order to try to help him, it's been more of a relationship bandaid, showing my flexibility so they in turn can see I am sincerely trying to help and work with them, holding my ground and fighting at every turn is seldom successful and only creates contention, being flexible when possible leaves room for me to hold my ground when necessary. Every step along the way I've prayerfully thought over what needs to be done to save my son, I know it is possible with patience. Thank you for caring enough to voice your concern ❤
My daughter came out as bi in 5th grade, lesbian in 6th grade, gender neutral in 8th grade. Most of her 6th grade classmates identified as gay. I pulled her out of public school for private high school even though we struggled financially. She is now boy crazed junior in high school.
Good for you. I believe your sacrifice was worth it. Not only because it was so likely your daughter was being influenced, but because stats show that the trangender community has the highest suicide rate of any group in the US. (And not because of outside bullying.) And because as Megan pointed out, the vast majority of kids with gender dysphoria grow out of it if left alone. The problem now is that it cant be left alone to resolve. Certain entities feel the need to push kids to act on it, in permanent and often detrimental ways. I hope your daughter can look back and thank you for the potentual grief and pain you saved her when shes older. 👌🏼
Omg, this is so scary. My daughter’s school has a rainbow club since the beginning of 2022. Half of her friends are out of a sudden lesbians. It’s now considered cool to be in the club. I worry about my kid.
They've been harvesting and monetizing the tremendous natural renewable energy source called adolescent female emotion ever since Elvis..... now they've weaponized it!
I don't disagree that this isn't a possible phenomenon but just a warning that Malcolm Gladwell's evidence is almost entirely anecdotal so I really take most of what he says with a grain of salt.
There have also a few teen-pregnancy pacts that made the news, and don't forget the bracelet parties/clubs, of course, everyone's favorite witch trials... You're spot on, but ya don't have to be or read Malcolm Gladwell to understand this phenomenon is real and happens in teen girls especially. Doesn't mean there aren't trans teens per se, just means this is a valid concern to have if a statistically greater number of trans teens pop up at your clinics. 🤷🏼♀️🙏🤟
I am Clinical Social Worker and have witnessed this dramatic shift firsthand. There is definitely a social contagion component of this phenomenon, not to mention a significant number of girls, specifically, identifying as trans who have tons of unresolved trauma issues, complex struggles within the family and major mood instability. Being trans has seemed to emerge as an answer to these other very complex areas of challenge within the lives of many of these kids.
I have been a mental health practitioner for over 20 years and have provided therapy to genuinely gender dysphoric clients. I have also seen a trend in young girls, who have depression, anxiety, and trauma issues identifying as transgender when they are actually trying to cope with their mental health conditions. It is highly irresponsible of the medical community to allow minors to transition (medically) without significant evaluation and therapy for an extended period of time.
As someone with five teenagers whom thankfully speak openly with us about what is going on in their peer groups, social media, etc.. It’s 💯 percent a social contagion. I don’t think such a thing should be affirmed, but treated as such. Support doesn’t equal affirmation.
Both my daughter had groups of friends and 1 group all but my daughter were LGBT Other daughters friend group 3 years ago all were Lesbians including my daughter 3 years later all are Trans. Same girls all say they are trans now.
Absolutely. Gender disphoria is the new cutting. A few years ago cutting (a genuine disorder of mind/emotions which was v rare) became de rigeur for teenagers and young adults and spread through internet memes like wildfire. Suddenly I knew many people who’s kids were cutting. Now having gender disphoria, being pan sexual, trans sexual etc is the thing. The trouble is, this can have serious long term effects if not handled correctly
Yep. I’ve had the talk with my kids. I’ve told them that people will approach them on this subject and perhaps make suggestions, to Respect anyone who is “different” or feels they are not their gender, but that they don’t have to agree with anyone and that it is impossible to change sex.
My teen-age grandaughter proclaimed she was gay. Then she met a boy who asked her out and now she is going steady with him. I attribute her earlier statement about her sexuality the result of the "woke" agenda she was exposed to by radical teachers.
I remember the 1970s and we had an epidemic of bulimia and related eating disorders. Mostly among teenage girls. We don't hear much about that anymore. Is this the latest form of crying for help I wonder.
Eating disorders are a physical manifestation of society starving women and telling them to dissappear. People with OCD related anxiety disorders are very susceptible to anorexia.
My daughter found a surgeon who seemed quite happy to perform too surgery AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It’s all very sad. Thank you both for talking about the issue that’s hurting our children and families and society. I can see it all so clearly in the rear view mirror. Read Shrier’s book and be wary of deviant art. Lord help us all. 💕
Some ex-trans people with RUclips channels have said they got medical treatment within 2-3 weeks from their first visit. Thats 2-3 weeks after they first thought they might be trans.
The industry is in existence to make money. That is the sole reason for the T movement. The corporations who make meds are behind the incessant promotion of this
I sympathize. My child is on the autism spectrum and transgender as well. It is a profoundly difficult process and impossible to know what the right things are to do.
I am dealing with this right now with my teenage daughters. I am very highly concerned to say the least. Not only about the fact that this is happening but also the way the school is handling it.
I wouldn't let the school handle it. Maybe even take you girls out of the school. In college, I went to a counselor one time, per a recommendation from a friend when I was dealing with a boyfriend who gave me flack for not sleeping with him. Right away, the counselor asked me if I was was homosexual , and suggested that was the reason. Definitely not. Also went straight for, "are you suicidal?" Definitely not. I just got up and left. Made me feel worse. Have never gone to one since.
Also, I have a couple teenage daughters myself. They say that this type of thing is definitely an epidemic and have lots of stories about girls in their classes. They both just want to be taught academics and are very aware when a certain ideology is trying to be pushed on them. I hope your girls pull through this soon.
Really sorry to hear this. I cant imagine the stress youre going through. Such a tricky topic to handle, especially when trying to get solid and unbiased advice. At this point if i had kids I'd either home school them or scrimp and save to send them to a private school.
PREDICTION: Within 10 years, there will be an intensely lucrative sub-specialty of law focused on suing physicians and counselors who irresponsibly rushed irreversible and damaging sex transitions. They will EASILY make hundreds of millions for their clients and themselves, and the abusers will be roundly condemned permanently as modern-day Mengeles.
This woman obviously cares. Personally, I think she is being way too soft because a whole generation of our kids is at stake. This whole transitioning on the word of a child is insane. A kid can't get a tattoe, but can cut off their genitals, sometimes without even parental notification, let alone permission. I still can't believe this is happening. As for the online pressure to transition...with everything going on politically now, I can't help but wonder if some of the pressure is coming from adult activists pushing this agenda, for whatever crazy reason they may have. Think about this. If someone had told you 10 years ago that in 2021 your 15 year old daughter would be able to go to a legit doctor and get male hormones to take, and have both of her breasts removed, and the doctor would do this without even telling you, the parent, you would have told that person they were insane, and that couldn't possibly ever happen. The medical community would never allow it. Well, we are here, and not only is it allowed, but encouraged.
She doesn't seem to connect this to the hard-core Marxist indoctrination and the use of schools as radical training camps. It's all part of the same thing.
It's completely politically motivated - the left has hijqcked our children. It is classic Marxism to break up the family until and create a generation of children that aren't loyal to their parents, but instead to the STATE. This is all propaganda - brainwashing our kids can be seen with the forced mask wearing, the forced covid jabs, closing down schools, sexual indoctrination, and now this. This is a PLANNED campaign to rob our kids from us and from traditional American family values.
Children and adults crave acceptance and are generally terrified of being rejected. When they see an easy path towards acceptance with the extra benefit of also being part of a protected class…of course they’ll join. Being a victim nowadays has huge advantages for members. This behavior will continue until the costs outweigh the benefits.
Yeah its a sad comment on our society that being a victim is now something to covet. But the reality is that being a victim today means you hold holy ground and can do no wrong. Youre elevated to another level and like you said, who doesnt want that??
Being trans literally doesn't give you privileges. It makes you have fewer privileges actually. That's why it's called a minority. I don't see your point.
Megyn, please help this woman nail her presentation. She has all the ingredients there. She has one of the most important sentinel messages of our time. The last thing we need is an ounce of confusion. There is nothing confusing about these numbers and we can't let people be confused by them. I KNOW some of these numbers from my own reading and you had me confused for a sec there. Ladies, as ladies, from one lady to another- save our girls- make the math ring like an alarm in your head after you heard it. Does my daughter have a 1/10 chance of going through this? is it still increasing year over year??
The numbers do matter. Their accurate presentation matters. For many people out there, this entire issue is buried in complete obscurity when it doesn't directly touch their lives. But anything approaching four and a half thousand percent increase proves that a growth industry is sprouting before our very eyes. Think of all those good jobs feeding off kids, and the youth of the nation. Imagine for a moment, a society so sick that it feeds off its young. For this to become real in the minds of many, there needs to be a complete reviewable invoice list of all the costing involved (private insurance policy premiums, for sure) but also public tax dollars.
Just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with Dr Littman refusing to be cowed and silenced by the loud angry mob. It unfortunately takes a lot of bravery nowadays to come out with anything even slightly against a certain liberal ideology. And you see how toxic it is when a liberal professor is barely allowed to publish research on a topic that clearly needs investigating. But good for her for seeing the importance of truth. It does matter. And on a side note it makes me really sad that those that are supporting her research feel the need to do so silently. What kind of society have we become when you cant openly support someone who's doing work to actually help people? (Clearly out of fear.) This isnt malicious research. Its to help certain confused teens and their parents. Its a shame what we've all allowed to gradually happen with our shared silence.
I'm sorry to keep commenting but there's so much to say. We all know kids are influenced by their peers. With social media it's thousand fold compared to years past. It doesn't take a genius to know that the trans movement is causing kids to think they're trans. It's sad.
Agree. We have no idea the ramifications social media has put on society. Terrible to think how badly we are mismanaging these tools and our kids are the guinea pigs.
I’m Trans Male to female, but didn’t reveal myself till I was 47 years of age. I started transitioning at 52 years old. After three years on HRT I realize that what I actually looked like and what Thought I was going to look like was fantasy and started to lose fever for transitioning. Then one day Thee Holy Spirit told me in a very calm Gentleman’s voice, “Ed don’t go any further, you’ve gone far enough”. And I’m very happy where I’m at. Praise Father God in Heaven.✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😇😇😇🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The soul is genderless and when you do this to yourself you do not experience the things you have agreed to spiritually, not to mention those that you have devastated around you. I am sure your family went through a lot back in the day.
Everyone needs to start suing these radical activists ruining others careers. START SUING THEM! It sounds like the doctors are preforming all kinds of medical malpractice. This will catch up with them, just like the opioid crisis did. A lot of them ended up in jail. I hope the same happens here. Make these people wait until age 21 before this type of surgery is allowed.
@@latinaalma1947 You know whats interesting about the age you mentioned is that its the age when i finally felt like maturity was settling over me. Like i was finally becoming the adult I was going to be. So i see what youre saying.
Two young ladies (ages 12 and 17) in my circle (did not know each other, completely different communities), both came out as trans within one week (late summer just before school starting). BOTH parents indicated the friendship circle for these two girls ALSO had young ladies identify as trans. The parent of the 12 year old indicated the young lady was repeatedly harassed in school the year prior because she developed early. The 17 year old lost her older brother in a drowning accident a few years ago, and never received deep therapy. The 17 year old is already taking hormones to transition.
This is so tragic. How on earth was the 17 yr old left without the psychological support she needed? It is sometimes the case that children try to become/replace a child who was lost.
I can disagree with Megyn Kelly’s opinions and commentary on many issues, but I really respect this CONVERSATION. There is so much we don’t know. And I commend her for having Dr. Littman on her show to share ALL of the facts and ask all the questions. Great journalism here. Great science here. And truly this is a great conversation of and with love.
They don't have a choice after they take the hormone therapy . The hormone is designed to make you transgender physically attract towards person and transform your body
Most of them either waived the claim when consenting to surgery or will fall way outside any applicable statute of limitations. If this field arises, it'll have to find some way through the moat of lobbyists protecting the medical field.
It truly is heartbreaking that these young people are being rushed to surgeries that are so permanent. I cant fathom how the medical society can be ok with pushing gender dysphoria as the only answer. Its just insane to me. And listening to the girl on 60 minutes who was depressed and so confused, just makes me sad that no one took the time to talk to her and get to the bottom of her depressiom and why she felt confused. Really sad. I hope changes can be made. But medicine has apparently becime so politicized that i dont know if its possible. Also, as far as being tolerant and accepting, how is ignoring and rejecting those who detransition any of those things?? So wrong.
I grew up in the late 80’s early 90’s, SouthSide of Chicago, blue collared neighborhood. Lots of friends of all walks. I had a friend names PJ, he was very colorful & outgoing. In 6th grade we were both checking out boys. His attraction to the same sex started very early. By high school he grew his hair out and wore makeup. Today we are in our late 30s and he is now Paige and fully transitioned. We are talking about 3 almost 4 decades of progression. Paige struggles with depression, body image, anorexia and major anxiety. She is now married to a man and lives, from the outside, a nice life. However, she struggles deeply and it’s very sad. I remember her as a young child very vibrant and just so fun to be around. I’m not going to sit here and act as if I know why she feels a certain way, but I will say my heart goes out to her. She believed strongly that transitioning would make her feel whole, but she is still struggling deeply going into her 40s now. Despite being loved and in a happy marriage, surrounded my supportive friends and family, & she works in the field she loves. Maybe her depression isn’t linked to her identity, I’m just fascinated by the fact her as PJ seemed more full of life checking out boys on the playground, vs Paige a beautiful woman married to a man. Either way, my heart goes out to anyone and everyone who goes through so much pain to find themselves.
It seems like he should have just been the gay man he is - there is still a huge stigma around homosexuality and in countries like India they would rather have a man supposedly “be a woman” then be a gay man. Many people including myself see this movement as an excuse to erase gay people- a lot of these girls Dr Littman talks about in the days before social media would have become the masculine lesbians they are but that’s still horrific for a lot of people. So they would rather they get on dangerous drugs for life and get amputations 😭
What I never understand is the "direction" of the treatment. All these people get encouraged, prescribed drugs, and counseled TOWARD the opposite sex, and never do we see the clinical treatment assisting them back into their birth sex. For instance: When you go to a counselor or clinician for treatment of (for instance) hearing voices in your head, they don't give you counseling, prescription pharmaceuticals, and treatment so that you hear those voices ALL THE TIME! They treat you "away from" the affliction. Same goes with any labeled "disorder", schizophrenia, depression, anorexia, etc. But with this gender issue they ALWAYS treat in the opposite direction. Why is that? ~JSV
I have wondered this also - that is, why the medical community does not try hormonal supplement consistent with the birth gender, vs. going straight and quickly to cross-sex hormones.
@@porchstringmusic Exactly! Thank you for seeing that. Isn't it also puzzling that this question is so seemingly obvious, yet we don't hear this asked ANYWHERE? [patient] "Doc, I have this THING where I'm like, I'm constantly feeling like I have 5 personalities inside me. What do I do about it?" [doctor] "No problem. We have a drug and a treatment program that'll make CERTAIN that you feel these personalities inside you ALL THE TIME!!!" Treatment has NEVER worked that way, so why THIS? I, like yourself, would like to see this answered. ~JSV
At what age does a child actually know the difference between genders.... Seriously, saying a 2 year old remember feeling more like a boy than a girl sounds more like a girl that was excluded from some fun that boys were having. But sexual differences ? I call bull on that one ! I am no doctor but I do have some common sense and that is just my humble opinion.
Human beings can tell the difference between sexes from infancy. Just by looking. Gender is not sex. They are using that word to confuse the subject. Please don't use their language. Sex is sex, gender is woo-woo.
For the mom at the end of the show or any parents wanting help, do NOT go to places like PFLAG, which will accuse you of transphobia if you don't affirm or even try to bring up the medical risks. Try Genspect, Our Duty, and Parents of ROGD Kids instead.
I think I have Rapid Onset Corporate Media, Academic and Govt Institutional Distrust Syndrome. Oh never mind, it's just called analytical and reasoning skills.
Thank you for having the strength to continue your work while receiving such backlash. We need more people like you who are not transphobic! I only in the past few years realized the issues with rushed and/or being too young to transition or partly begin the process. Our country and world are under such pressure to do things they otherwise would not. This includes physicians, mental health workers, parents, social media, peers, teachers, politics, etc. Its unfortunate so many lives are destroyed because of this topic. Be careful before making such a huge decision before getting the proper diagnosis!
Incredible conversation. I'm seeing this very thing happen in my family and so much of what was discussed heavily resonated with what were seeing in the youth in my family. Thank you for continuing to discuss these topics
@@Switzer1234 my phone's autocorrect of "we're" to "were" must have been very triggering for you; you both commented and highlighted with the use of caps lock!
This is brilliant. Why do I know of two young teen girls that want their breasts cut off and start hormones all of a sudden? Why do I know another 14-year-old girl wanting to be called them and they? And why does your guest sound like she's tempering her views? Glad she's at the forefront with this and she coined the phrase "rapid-onset dysphoria" and glad Megyn is exploring more of this 'sudden' issue.
Thank You Megyn, Dr. Littman is my new favorite liberal. She explains everything in basic terms and helped me understand something I knew very little about. Great guest and great show.
This is a very important and worthwhile conversation. We don’t know enough about this topic. I have no problem with adults making decisions about gender reassignment. I do think we need to know more when it comes to transgender children. A lot to discuss! I would support my child but I wouldn’t let them make such a serious life changing alteration. They will be able to decide once they are of age.
BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder) is a recognized medical condition, where a person wants a body part (hand, arm, foot, leg, eyes) removed/amputation because it feels completely "alien" and causes intense emotional suffering. This may be a small part of a much broader spectrum of similar symptoms in a wider population.
I went through a bit of gender identity issues preadolescence (I had 4 older sisters if that matters). I liked to wear wigs and makeup and was obsessed with wearing homemade dangling earrings. But once I hit puberty my body matured, people took notice, and the gender identity isdue passed. Had I been born in 2000, I'd be suffering hormone imbalances, which wreck the brain and body, and have a pair of bre*sts I don't want.
this sounds like a joke, but you are actually totally right. Kids today are thrust into medicalization & not allowed to just go through phases and grow up
@@Mark-hc8ek I am STILL a Tomboy, way past the age of teen years and puberty. A great interview! The points discussed exactly match our own experience, with the granddaughter we raised, previously diagnosed with other issues, plus a traumatic history, before announcing their sudden dysphoria as a teen.
The problem is that a lot of the TRAs nowadays don’t think gender dysphoria is necessary to have a trance identity, and some outright reject that GD is even a real thing. They think you just need to declare a trance-identity based on hunches & receive pharmaceutical and/or surgical interventions w/out question. There’s so many contradictions w/ the belief system, which makes it even more dangerous that the affirm only approach is being accepted by LICENSED professionals…
The fact that whether kids influence each other or not is actually up for debate is absolutely ridiculous. All you have to do is drive by a high school to see it. It’s been happening for all of time. On top of that they are all influenced by what they watch and see in media, but I’m sure that’s up for debate as well 🤦🏻♀️
Yep. My kids have to deal with a lot in school that I didn't have to worry about (too much) when I was their ages, even from teachers sometimes. We've kind of created our own bubble with others who are like-minded ...and then just "smile and wave" to the outside world. The funny thing is, for my exit writing exam in undergrad, we got to choose from 3 debate scenarios then we wrote; paper and pencil. I chose the one regarding gays & nature versus nurture. I wrote that the vast majority of this community was swayed via sociological influence (in a nutshell) and received a special letter afterwards from my university that, rather than giving me a pass/fail, they were giving me a 4.0 on my writing test, which would show up on my transcript. Ironic that it's a liberal arts college! Anyway, here we are 20ish years later with waaay more dysfunction...still a sociological problem.
Megyn asked, "Who do we need on the side of studies, science, skepticism, etc.?" To me, the answer is clear: parents. They are the first and last line of defense and the fiercest advocate for their children.
I grew up in the early 2000s with dead journal and other online forums that were unregulated. I joined ana/mia groups - anorexia/bulimia. Unfortunately, feeling like what is wrong with you is your own body can feel so empowering when you're young. I'm so glad I wasn't encouraged to get liposuction or my ribs removed. My lowest weight was 94 lbs at 5'4.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am that this study was done. Dr.Litman, Congratulations. A much needed research. I applaud your courage and conviction. I am a pediatric dentist and a part time school teacher from South India. I saw this as a potential issue that would affect our kids here , because our kids here too are very influenced by the media. Though the intensity maybe less, I saw a preventive strategy as the best way to go about it. I have been holding a class on critical thinking and being politically incorrect where apart from some other topics I also discussed this issue with my high and senior schoolers. The point of the class was to be able to speak on topics objectively while becoming aware of the difference between putting forth a point of view or a fact objectively vs intentionally meaning to hurt The goal was to not get easily offended and listen to varying points of view. There was a mixed reaction initially but became more open once the points were made very clearly. I infact also went ahead and wrote and directed a play called cancel culture where several real life personalities ( who were cancelled) were depicted. Among them were also JK Rowling and Jordan Peterson who were among those who spoke about this issue and got cancelled! This has been a topic that I have been dicsussing with teens for atleast 4 years now and have been reading extensively on. This paper is going to realy help me put forth my point with evidence. Please carry on the good work. We need people like you to speak up. Thank you.
Our political arena's, educational system, our media have promoted gender dysphoria----they confuse our youth of today. Our children are guinea pigs. If people would take the time to look at the very high numbers in statistics of people trying to revert back to their original birth assignment and the major hardship they have trying to change a major life decision made when they were too young and incapable to make it ----Let our children be children---It's a hard world for them out there today---why do we have to make it harder for them?
"Birth assignment" is a term originating in the trans-advocacy movement. We aren't assigned a sex at birth; our sex is determined at conception and observed at birth. No one is born in the wrong body.
This rate of trans gender identification is a new phenomenon. Surely the most rampant trans activists can see the value in properly looking into why? Such a massive and permanent change must surely be rigorously explored?
These departments/clinics receive so much money for their further development. And these surgeons make more. And then we have patients living in poverty or who are really sick and can't even get a tubal ligation. Outside what's real or not....We're talking about the American/Western medical model. Poverty or surgeries or care that isn't going to make money = red tape. Otherwise come on through - and the faster the better.

I’m a Democrat, and I agree. I’m no physician, but I also know when to call bull$h!t when I see it. I knew it was ideology motivated. Some of us are very comfortable. Nothing is perfect, but I've never felt a threat of violence. I've met bad people who enjoy causing problems, but they existed before I transitioned too. There are also bad trans people who enjoy causing problems. I avoid radicals on both ends of the political spectrum and have a better life than I could have ever imagined.
Ok, boomer. Listen, it's not about having total control, because kids need time to grow. It's better to take the middle ground, which would be to let them have some time to figure out what they actually need. Let them buy and wear the clothes they want, see if they feel like it helps them. Sure, kids don't make the best decisions sometimes, but it's better than not supporting them and not letting them have that freedom. Because if you don't, that can seriously fuck them up mentally.
@@ryannorthup3148 calm down there little guy, I think Brad was just saying that children shouldn't be able to make the decision to change their gender. He wasn't saying they shouldn't have the time to "figure out what they need" or wear a certain type of clothing. Also starting a conversation with "ok boomer" makes you sound immature and really, really stupid.

"Yeah, it was stressful"? Dr. Littman appears to have a gift for understatement. Still, I admire her effort to return some rational neutrality to the discussion of this topic.
I honestly don't want to bring children into this world. It was hard enough to figure things out for myself as a 90's kid but now looking back boy was I lucky to have been born when green was green and apples were apples. I just cannot imagine having to navigate the current state of the world for impressionable young minds.
@@vesnamiljkovic261 My parents want me to especially my mother because they're Polish and she comes from a big family but I am just so conflicted lol and there's already so many people on this earth.
Haha, she actually mentions left-handedness! We lefties are a minority, and in some ways society is literally engineered against us. You used to be considered stupid if you were left-handed, and in school would be beaten on the hand with a stick until you learnt to write right-handed. So in a lot of ways, you could draw parallels. Ofcourse for a left-handed person, you can very easily adapt to a right-handed world, there's no thought of being victimised by malicious institutional right-handedness or right-handed privilege etc, you just realise you're a minority so you adapt a little. It's not a good comparison for things like trans, but it at least provides some yardstick or some scale to put things on.
It was interesting that she brought the comparison up. As a lefty for these many years, I can attest to a certain ostracism growing up. I attempted to “transition” as a teen to right-handedness by forcing myself to go “all in” but it was a failure (but not a great loss).
@@bryanutility9609 After living in West Africa for a couple of years, I came to understand better the origin of “beating it out of kids.” It was explained to us as, “God gave us two hands, one to wipe with and one for everything else!” Right handedness takes on a whole new “importance” when seen in that context. A good friend of mine, who had limited use of his right arm, had to travel with a large spoon in order to eat from the communal bowl at mealtime.
I agree. I remember watching a doc years ago about two gay men in the middle East. One of them was forced to become a woman in order for them to be together. He was crying and kept crying, but done it to be with the guy. I do think there are genuine cases of wanting to change, but I do think what is going on now has another agenda....
Gosh Megyn-I always had you down as a lightweight and you are quickly turning into a hero for me- you’re pretty fearless in the topics you discuss that NEED discussing-keep it up!
How did you think she was a lightweight? Personally, I thought she was controlled by forces unseen from the shadows however, I've given her chance after chance and seen she's actually a brilliant woman with an independent mind and frankly, I judged her wrong and was influenced by faceless shadows from the toxic elements now ruining the world for people. I'd like to see more young women model what they do around how Megyn has conducted herself.
How has she ever been a lightweight? One of the reasons she was the highest rated show on fox news was because she was unafraid of questioning and poking holes in the narrative of both republicans and dems. She was bold and fearless, and her so called kelly files were known for taking a look into the minutiae of cases and new stories with a fine tooth comb. And I am saying this as a Jon Stewart watching, life long leftie who used to be convinced she was another fox news blonde empty headed anchor because he routinely targeted her. Until I went to see for myself what the fuss was about ready to laugh and roll my eyes and caught a piece of her program, and was not expecting to find a really well prepared, incisive reporter who was departing from the fox lines in many instances and taking gop guests to task. It took me years to admit I actually admired her, though I disagreed with her on most policy positions back then, and would pretend to flip channels and catch snipets here and there. Ever since her podcast lauched though, I havent missed a day.
@@PozoBlue Side Note: Jon Stewart manipulated his audience with snapshots-in-time that he could then make jokes about. His low hanging fruit that the uninformed could gobble up... And Megyn never "departed from FOX lines". ??? I don't even know what that means. Like many on FOX, Megyn knew her stuff -- and there were no empty headed blondes on that show -- and you would know that if you actually watched the show instead of letting Stewart "tell' you about the show....in the form of jokes?...
Dr. Littman is clearly a sharp and ethical researcher. Her work is likely to spare many young people, and the people who love them, a lot of suffering.
Both of my daughters “came out” stating they were “bi” and thought they would get a ruse out of me. I told them I couldn’t care less whom they were attracted to or whom they loved as long as the other person treated them well. Next you know they both have boyfriends. Their college peer group includes a lot of people that are homosexual, true bi-sexual and self identify as such or “they”. Some even changed their name to match their self perception of their gender identity. Some of this friend group were friends in HS so we knew most of them and our house was always the place for them to hang out - a safe place. For my girls, I think it was a peer influence thing on top of being groomed by a non-bio uncle - he is about 12 yrs into a 40 yr sentence. I definitely think peer pressure, the allure to be included plays it’s part.
Megyn love your podcast... one tiny suggestion, make the podcast a little longer so you can take more callers. Outside of that you are killing it. Share every episode on Gab where the millions of us deplorables reside after being kicked from Twitter.
Important topic. Thank you Megyn. I’ve lost a nephew to this contagion and his 15y/o sister is now going down this rabbit hole. “Affirmative Care” is sterilization and mutilation. As a gay man I thought we were opposed to conversion therapy. This is the ultimate and most dangerous conversion therapy available to young people.
I hope your nephew/niece cut ties with you. It’s terrible to think someone from their own family could believe that who they are is “a contagion” Affirmative care is not conversion therapy, forcing them to not be trans is conversion therapy.
when I was in high school roughly 20 years ago, if any of my peers had told the rest of us that they didn't feel like they were in the right body and wanted to change sexes, they would get laughed at and not taken seriously. now, it's a trend, and if I speak out against it I'm told that it's my "old way" of thinking. I swear if I didn't love this country so much I would have left by now.
It really is crazy how much times have changed. I graduated in '99 and there werent even "out" gay kids back then. But i remember hearing about an out kid at my school a few yrs after i graduated. I believe he was the first. But its so crazy how the same people who would have likely been outcasts then (not bullied but not part of the popular group) are now the in crowd. And in addition are judging, demeaning and ostracizing anyone not like them. (Which is odd because those same teens were clearly accepted by straight cis gender teens in order to become so relevant and confident at their school.) Its so crazy how things can change SO much. Teens are having a completely different experience than we did.
Oh and i agree common sense has left our country. Its now controlled by a radical minority that bullies and threatens if you dare disagree with their ideology. I don't know how this behavior became acceptable. And i miss the days when you could vocalize your disagreement with someone without having hate spewed at you. (Or being doxxed, fired from your job or getting death threats as well.) All now common tactics used. We used to be better than this. Could dislike or even hate what another person said/believed but didnt resort to these violent or obscene actions.
You can see Dr. Littman roll her eyes when she doesn't agree with some of Kelly's phrasing. Megyn Kelly is SO PROFESSIONAL about it too! Like she said, she doesn't make the story about herself or take it personally. I have so much respect for Megyn Kelly. Because just like Dr. Littman said and I don't believe she quite realizes how this applies to some on the right, being in that position where you hear "loud outrage but quiet support". It's honestly nice to hear that from a liberal.
Dr. Littman is way more measured and reasonable than Matt Walsh on this subject. She is also more informed, less emotional and has more compassion. Thank you.
I remember wanting to be a boy. I was already a tomboy but I always got the impression my dad wanted a boy and at the time he had only daughters. Under these circumstances I’m afraid I might have collapsed under the pressure. As it stands I’m so happy I’m a woman and I wouldn’t change it for anything!
Really unfortunate in the beginning of the segment that she didn’t understand the numbers. She said 45,000 % increase, then said 43 hundred, then said 4500% increase. Then when Megyn tried to clarify it, she repeated 45,000. Then changed it to 65% increase per year. This kind of thing will discredit her in many peoples eyes.
Sorry about your dysphoria, do what you need to to be happy in this life. However, don't attempt to force me to accept your identify as my reality. I'll be polite, but you be you and I'll be me.
Here's my comment on this topic. If the increase in "being trans" is merely caused by acceptance and awareness in society, and the amount of people who are "naturally trans" hasn't really changed, then where are the many thousands of suicides that must surely have happened to the children/teens who were not previously "affirmed" in a new identity, given puberty blockers as 12 and 13-year-olds, and given synthetic cross-sex hormones at 15 or 16? If the only way to prevent suicide in this naturally-occurring population of people who were "born in the wrong body" is to "affirm" their ""gender identity" (assuming that's a real thing) and physically alter them as soon as possible to appear as the sex of their "gender identity," shouldn't there be some proof of all those who committed suicide before the early 2000s because they weren't "affirmed?"
I tend left, and totally agree here with Megan & Dr Littman. It isn't the average liberal, it's the extremist Trans Rights lobbies and interests (big pharma, medical concerns). I think the majority of the country (world) knows transwomen are men, you can't change sex, and trans rights extremists are stomping on real women's rights and harming children.
I'm a trans liberal. Stop hurting kids. This disconnect from reality comes from gender radicals who shouldn't have a voice in the conversation. The backlash when this implodes will hurt me.
My daughter's group of friends in middleschool are all trans, but one. 9 in the same group at 13. She said there are more outside their group. We live in a smaller conservative area, so it was surprising. I'm leftist to be clear. Before this I have known 2 trans people (women) my entire 37 years.
Good for you! These influencers will pay. Karma is the great equalizer!

Malcolm Gladwell wrote about copycat tendencies in teens when it comes to suicide as well in his book "Tipping Point". It's very real.

You're spot on, but ya don't have to be or read Malcolm Gladwell to understand this phenomenon is real and happens in teen girls especially.

I’ve told them that people will approach them on this subject and perhaps make suggestions, to
Respect anyone who is “different” or feels they are not their gender, but that they don’t have to agree with anyone and that it is impossible to change sex.
And lost memory syndrome, and multiple personality syndrome, both have been discredited.
Eating disorders are a physical manifestation of society starving women and telling them to dissappear. People with OCD related anxiety disorders are very susceptible to anorexia.
Crying for attention more like. Teenagers are really quite narcissistic, girls especially. I'm not sure why.
Eating disorders are still around but get little attention. Cutting has increased.

Nobody can remember when they're two 2-year-olds don't know what the hell gender is
This woman obviously cares.
Thank-you for having Dr Littman on to discuss her crucial work.
I'm glued to all your shows Megyn. Thank you for opening this uncomfortable conversation. Its been long overdue.
Are you talking about feminists? Pointing out that almost all detrans are natal females is killing a sacred cow ;)
💯💯💯💯%%‰%
It's sad.
Doesn;t take a genius to see a transphobic, prejudiced and bigoted view
Agree. We have no idea the ramifications social media has put on society. Terrible to think how badly we are mismanaging these tools and our kids are the guinea pigs.

What do I do about it?"
[doctor] "No problem. We have a drug and a treatment program that'll make CERTAIN that you feel these personalities inside you ALL THE TIME!!!"
Treatment has NEVER worked that way, so why THIS? I, like yourself, would like to see this answered.

And there are actual surgeons will to surgically remove the limbs!!!
I went through a bit of gender identity issues preadolescence (I had 4 older sisters if that matters). I liked to wear wigs and makeup and was obsessed with wearing homemade dangling earrings.
Trans cult want no debate about this, just affirmation
Megyn asked, "Who do we need on the side of studies, science, skepticism, etc.?" To me, the answer is clear: parents. They are the first and last line of defense and the fiercest advocate for their children.

Look at how much these surgeons make doing these surgeries without dealing with insurance.
These departments/clinics receive so much money for their further development. And these surgeons make more. It's very simple. Children do not make good decisions when they are children. Parents should be in control of their kids.
Ok, boomer. Listen, it's not about having total control, because kids need time to grow. It's better to take the middle ground, which would be to let them have some time to figure out what they actually need. Let them buy and wear the clothes they want, see if they feel like it helps them.
England drives on the left so would benefit lefties. I’m so thankful I’m not left handed.
@@bryanutility9609 After living in West Africa for a couple of years, I came to understand better the origin of “beating it out of kids.” It was explained to us as, “God gave us two hands, one to wipe with and one for everything else!” Right handedness takes on a whole new “importance” when seen in that context. How has she ever been a lightweight? She was bold and fearless, and her so called kelly files were known for taking a look into the minutiae of cases and new stories with a fine tooth comb. And I am saying this as a Jon Stewart watching, life long leftie who used to be convinced she was another fox news blonde empty headed anchor because he routinely targeted her.
Sorry this is a year old, but I'm curious. Why do you think peer pressure and a creepy uncle would suddenly make your daughters attracted to women.

This is a very important conversation especially for parents.
All of this youth transition is pure societal pressure, as this trend has exploded, that’s not a coincidence.
when I was in high school roughly 20 years ago, if any of my peers had told the rest of us that they didn't feel like they were in the right body and wanted to change sexes, they would get laughed at and not taken seriously. now, it's a trend, and if I speak out against it I'm told that it's my "old way" of thinking.
Thank you both for sharing this.

Stop apologizing for rejecting the premise of the Alphabet People.

Good point!
She is describing the rabid left , it’s their way or you’re evil.
I see no civilization determined by the rabid left
I'm a trans liberal. Stop hurting kids. This disconnect from reality comes from gender radicals who shouldn't have a voice in the conversation. The backlash when this implodes will hurt me.
My daughter's group of friends in middleschool are all trans, but one. 9 in the same group at 13. She said there are more outside their group. We live in a smaller conservative area, so it was surprising. I'm leftist to be clear. Before this I have known 2 trans people (women) my entire 37 years.
