  • This is the feature film Trashing Transphobia.
Trashing Transphobia has been created by the participants involved with the Trashing Transphobia project funded by The Big Lottery Fund. For the last four months the participants on the project have been involved with all aspects of the film, learning filmmaking skills, filming several interviews and lots of editing. They have learned how to use a Canon C100, Canon 5D and GoPro cameras, radio microphones, how to operate a boom pole and using Final Cut X.
Trashing Transphobia aims to tackle the discrimination that the transgender community often face. It follows Laura Holt, speaking with members of the transgender community alongside charitable organisations.
The film premiered at the Sheffield Odeon on Transgender Day of Remembrance, 20th November 2015. Here is some of the feedback from the screening:
    - Very emotional, relevant and local film that needs to reach a wider spread of people.
    - Totally spot on - everyone should be made to see it. Touching, honest made me laugh, made me cry - perfect.
    - I'm really happy that this film exists, with trans people having major input into it.
    - Very well made and significantly heart-warming and inspirational.

A really good film, i'm sure many folk who are Tans will watch , agree with all of the items covered and enjoy it. BUT the problem will be getting the general public ( and especially Transphobes) to watch it all the way through

The question we should ask people opposed to gender free toilets is exactly what their fears are about a trans male/female using the same toilet? I think a lot of bigotry hides behind this and needs airing honestly and publicly. What exactly IS the issue? Sexual predation? Cleansliness? If cubicles were introduced to all toilets then this should never be an issue!?
