    Really helpful review- thanks for making this video! I'm making the same calculations in my head as i consider 6 vs 7 seats and your video is convincing me we may prefer the 6 seater.
    Can't believe all these people in the comments telling you how to parent (you clearly stated why you keep the kids rear facing) and guilting you for having kids 🤦‍♀️🙄

    I'm liking the two in the second row and one in the third row - youngest in the seat nearest the door (second row), mid-aged child in the middle seat and oldest in the third row far right seat with the second row far right seat down.

    Thank you for this. I historically considered the Model X out of the price range we would be willing to pay for a car. I go through this car seat circus in my head daily trying to figure out what the best next vehicle for my wife will be. Granted, we do foster care, so our family can shrink or increase on any given day. Being a model 3 owner with currently 3 car seats in the back (2 forward, 1 infant), I look forward to when the model Y comes out with a 3rd row. If they are not rear facing like in the older model S', this video does not give me hope that it help our situation. Currently my wife's "family" hauler is a Subaru Ascent with a bench 2nd row. We both hate it, but it holds 8, and she wouldn't drive a minivan or a Kia Telluride (due to ancient past experiences with Kia). In the Subaru, you can unbolt the 2nd row "40" seat so that kids can climb into the back on their own which is a huge time saver. But if you do that, an adult cannot sit with an infant in the 2nd row to bottle feed (with a 2nd child behind the driver). Sadly, in the more affordable ($40-$50k) price range (aka Subaru) the Honda minivan with the removable and laterally sliding 2nd row is perfect, but lame. Moving up in terms of space, comfort, and price, the revamped 2020 Tahoe/Yukon or Ford Expedition/Navigator is perfect for space, but both are slow, archaic (compared to Tesla), and nearly $80k when all equivalent safety features are added. And at that price, why not go with Tesla...well I guess the Model X is not so great for space sadly.

    Well, I’m looking into a model x or a y. And found out I can remove the 1 seat behind the passenger side so it would be more accessible to 3rd row. It will show an error message on your screen once removed but it will be a better option.
    I’ll be doing that soon once I ether order the model y or x. But X has that big deep trunk like a mini van.

    We did 3 seats with oldest forward facing in the middle and two younger rear facing on the outsides in our Prius V. We get in the front seat with or knees on the seat and and tighten them reaching back from the front seat. Works pretty well.

      we'll be going live with 3 car seats this summer. Wife likes to have one seat flat for access to the car seats, so current plan is having two rear-facing net to each other in second row, and oldest forward-facing in the 3rd row with the seat in front of her folded down.

      I have a 6 year old and twin 2 year olds. We managed 3 car seats in the Chevy Bolt. Originally two rear facing then all 3 forward facing. It's been fantastic but since they are get older/bigger we bought 6-seater model X for the extra space.
      Overall the EV market for parents of multiple kids is abysmal. I wanted to wait for Chrysler or VW to release their fully electric vans but they took too long to get to market.

    • @Teslavangelist
      @Teslavangelist  11 месяцев назад

      That's an achievement for the Bolt! We do a lot of carpooling, so sometimes we had three car seats and two full boosters in the back. It works but it's cramped.
      We looked at Pacifica recently, too, but the hybrid doesn't have a 3-seat second row option.
      The Mazda Cx-90 PHEV is a new option to to the space

    • @Teslavangelist
      @Teslavangelist  5 месяцев назад +1

      We've had a lot of variations. Briefly all three were rear facing in the 2cnd row. Once the oldest was forward facing, she was in the middle making it easier to hand her things, and the 2 rear facing were on the sides.
      They're now all front facing, but we're having a fourth this week. Older two will now be in the 3rd row, one in a booster the other forward facing car seat. Toddler will be in forward facing car seat in 2cnd two driver side, newborn will be rear facing middle, and the passenger seat will be empty for easy access to third row.

    • @Teslavangelist
      @Teslavangelist  5 месяцев назад +1

      Model X is definitely roomier than Y. If you get narrow seats like Diono you might be able to do three across in the Y second row, or you could put one in the third row

    • @Teslavangelist
      @Teslavangelist  Месяц назад +1

      @@TaylorGilge it depends if you have kids in car seats or are advancing them to just boosters, but over all I'd recommend 7 seat.
      The captain chairs in the 6 seater do not collapse nor do they glide forward quickly. Could be pretty limiting if you have your 20m/o in a rear-facing carseat which always force a front seat to be pushed forward.
      We recently have had two forward car seats in the 3rd row, a booster in teh second row passenger side (that slides forward if 3rd row kids need some space), and a rear-facing infant car seat in the middle seat. Driver side second row is empty for access or bags.
      I have a video that I need to upload about it.

    I'd vote for the practical rather than be sticklers about staying with Tesla -- get a minivan with a good safety rating. My son has a Pacifica hybrid, rarely buys gas, and loves it. (But his kids are older so I cannot attest to the ability to carry 3 car seats -- but it looks very spacious.) The Pacifica also has excellent media options, which are very helpful to keep older kids entertained on trips -- you will care about that! Tesla simply has not addressed those kind of options. Plus, some cars have dual A/C, seats that fold or can be removed, and other features that really cater to larger families.

    I have a question, I am getting a 7 seater model x this year because we have a new baby coming up on November on top of our 10 year old and 8 year old, we will be using the middle seat for the infant car seat while the two kids sit at the sides with booster seats. I know it's a tight fit but it'll fit. My question may be dumb but I'll ask it anyway, would the middle infant seat block my other kids' view when they are watching movies on the back screen?

    • @Teslavangelist
      @Teslavangelist  6 месяцев назад

      We've been doing three across for yrs now and they fit fine. Regarding the screen, I think they'll be able to see, but the side kids may have to lean away or a little forward depending on how tall they are.
      My wife usually has the infant seat on the driver side so it's more convenient for her putting the baby in and out. Less room for the driver but she's small

    Is a model X doable with two large rear facing seats and a teenager? Right now the teenager can climb into the back row of our Escalade but only when the baby car seat is out of the car. If you are doing a video about car seats maybe best to take it to a retailer with trained installers who know what they’re doing.
