I just ordered my budget version. This is my first san martin, super excited!
July 2023 I got the cheaper version (V3 - Seiko movement, domed crystal, blue color), yet unlike your black SN58, my non-rivet bracelet is fitted with screws, not pins. Seems like sometimes the smaller sub-updates are made within a same version. Thanks for great and thoroughly informing comparison. Great work as always !
i like the hard plastic cases. Always have use for them. make them strap boxes, fuse/bulb boxes to put in the car. oil travel money boxes you name it. you can find a use for them.

I get confused - San Martin seem to have 8 or more, versions of a black or blue BB58..
180usd is my limit in any aliexpress watches. beyond that, i go to other merchants. good thing san martin made this watch.

I'd sorta agree but mine is $250-$300.
Really you need to pay $250 or more to get a decent big brand watch. Tissot, citizen, seiko, hamilton, etc
The finishing on my san martin is so good, it bumps me up to accepting $250 or maybe $300 for Ali.
Otherwise you need to spend at least that much to get anything decent from the Swiss or Japanese.
The San martin micro adjustment clasp is literally finished as well as anything I've ever handled. They use the same polishing technique as grand seiko and it shows on all the chamfered edges.
I don't have a San Martin of any model because I haven't been willing to pay their prices for an Ali watch.
In Ali I am a bargain hunter for watches that I am going to wear without worrying about day to day scuffs and scratches so the difference in micro finishing has no real value to me. I appreciate it but not so much in an Ali watch.
The level of finishing on the cheaper Ali watches is good enough for me. I would rather but 2 lesser finished watches than one San Martin.
This latest version does appeal to me due to the lower price but not quite enough for me to buy another version of a diver.
Any 400 usd watch in aliexpress is a gem. I have panda suguess chronograph and it's a beast
@@RUclips_is_full_of_trolls I had a San Martin but I still wanted a watch with heritage. Got a Seiko instead and installed the SM clasps. It’s so good and very similar to the Omega clasp.
San Martin have changed a lot of things by looks of it on the versions..ive got the SN008C NH35 same as your reviewing yet mine has got the screw in links not pin n collar.. But i did purchase mine when they first bought out the C nh35 cheaper version a yr ago...Oh mine also has the older clasp on too so not as wide and has the sloped edges .. Now as far as im aware theyve made a matt bezel insert finish to match the dial on the OG brown/black variant so looks more like the original Tudor...Why theyve done away with the polished pinion cover is beyond me that should of been on all variants...Surely there cannot be much in price difference at trade...Great review..Its my favourite homage ive got...

Got the black SN0008C version - great watch for £155 including taxes - 4 very minor drawbacks - the SM logo at 12 is too bright at same position as snowdrop so harder to read time. Lugs & strap are a bit sharp, but will dull down in time. Strap narrows too much towards buckle for my big wrists. Bezel font a bit too dull. Ain't no thing as a perfect watch, that is why we keep looking
I personally think their best logo is the “San Martin” written out. The logos are overkill. That and a shark on the crown would be best
Welp. I need to update this post. I since have added this watch to my collection. I now think the best logo is the applied logo. This watch looks so great in person. The San Martin logo on the crown also looks amazing. Idk what else to say. I’m currently wearing this watch with another one in the mail for my father. I’ll just say, I think they make such good watches that almost all their styles look good. Hope y’all find this opinion helpful. 🍻

The PT5000 is a much better movement. I think the riveted bracelet is far nicer, and l like the fact it is slimmer. The answer is to buy a good used SN0008G for about the same price a new SN0008C. I own three San Martin watches, and the quality is outstanding
No indecision here - you can get a blue AND a black version of the "cheaper" C watch, and find no quality difference... plus choose a third watch - all THREE for same price as ONE G version.
UPDATE had a black SN0008C for £155 with taxes, just received an even better SM stainless steel blue Pelagos homage SN0121GB for only £153, as courier forgot to collect £40 taxes.
I prefer the pricier one with the sellita but i will not get a watch without the proper movement.
If the less expensive one had the nh38 it was a winner.

That is a crazy good deal. I find myself preferring C3 these days over the BGW9, esp on vintage-flavored watches. I think even for the same price, I'd take the black C version over the BGW9/PT5000 version.
Am I alone in wishing they made an even cheaper version with a quartz movement? I don't care if it was meccaquartz or not but I have had enough of automatics.

I agree that vh31 smooth swiping Seiko quartz movement would work well here. Addiesdive is using quartz more and more lately maybe they will come up with something, unless SM beats them to it 🙂
I agree the Tudor is better. But use a higher end movement than the seiko which on many San Martin, you have a choice now and you close the gap considerably. I don’t the tudor is worth the price difference.
TBH , I can't tell the difference and I would definitely buy the cheaper version and definitely ignore the dearer version. It is that simple.
I would like to see a aluminium bezel ring on the more expensive version.
Because of this I would prefer the cheaper option and maybe put an aluminium one afterwards on it.
It seems like S. M wants to split production in 2 differents levels, it looks like a marketing test. By the way your video is interesting and well done.
There is more SN004 bb58 with 38mm diameter.
I had the current version with the PT5000. Recall paying about $300 for it and did so because I wanted the thinner case. It was excellent and the lume was better than my Seikos and Tudor. This more affordable option seems to be a winner, but for pin and collar.
I agree that PT5000 is outstanding. Mine runs -1 a day. Insanely accurate. Seiko's low-end movement is OK but I personally always prefer hi-beat alternatives.
Nice review and comparison. I think I’ll try getting the g-b version. And maybe further down the road grab the jubilee style bracelet for it. Wonder if that would fit the cheaper sn 008c version?

Possibly, SM did indicate that they might carry this deal past 11.11, how it does depend on the stock available. They are known to run out during big sales in the past 🙂
