Funny thing is, I use the diver extension on my PD Chrono all the time while wearing the watch at work. It is just enough to relax the watch when my wrist swells and then I lock it in after work. I use the micro adjustment for fitment through the year but on almost a regular, I am popping my extension open and close.
I personally like the diver extensions as my wrist size will change pending the weather. It’s just slight enough that an extension allows a looser fit in hotter weather without messing with links
I'd LOVE to see more of these vids Jody. With more top pricey watches and their tiered alternative homages. I think many others would too. Love your work mate 👍☺️🇦🇺
Great video Jody! Love all you do. Just wanted to share few tips on adding music to your videos: - Having too many songs in one video can be distracting for viewers, I would pick one or two and just loop them again and again. It helps with the continuity of the video. - Really didn’t love the first two tracks, but the two bossa nova inspired tracks and the downtempo 5th track are really nice. I would definitely recommend looping these, and people will learn to love them. - Definitely know as a creator the excitement of including music with your videos. All of the music in my videos are my own creations so I always hope people love them. That being said, I do think you cranked up the volume a tad too high in this one. I typically go minus 30dB on the main tracks, and closer to minus 15dB on my intro and outro music. I find that a good level most people accept. Try looping the two or three best songs and then lower the volume a bit and you’ll be golden. All in all amazing comparison! I owned this BB Chrono previously and do consider it worth the money for what it’s offering as a column wheel chronograph. Please don’t take my comment as anything more than constructive criticism from someone who also loves to include music in their videos. Keep up the great work and cheers from Hong Kong! 🍻

Hey there Jody, I have to leave a bit of feedback. I watched this review on a smart TV using its own speakers and I've got to say the music was more distracting than anything else. Sometimes your words blended with the music and I couldn't hear what you were saying. Despite all that I was glad once again to get my JOMW fix.
I picked up the same Tudor only 3 months old for $3,000 USD. I had the Pagani first and then the Tudor came up and I had the funds and pulled the trigger. Don’t regret it got a hell of a watch for a hell of a price.
I bought the Pagani but with black dial several months ago Jody. Today I was looking at the Tudor site, looked at the the BB chrono & moved on!😱😂 What I did buy was the Tudor 1926, 39mm with yep, the OPALINE dial!😂 I have enough Pagani chrono’s!🤭👍🏻😎
4:24 The subtle spritzes of comedy on this channel are just right up my alley. I love it. "Not chapagne, not, white, not ivory, but opaline, don't you know." 😂
I own all three of these. Bought the Tudor first then the Pagani second to use during times I don't want to risk damaging the Tudor. Yes I also feel the Tudor is a little too thick. I bought the San Martin simply because I was curious if it was really 3x better than the PD. It isn't. It's definitely nice but not that nice. In my opinion the box they come in is completely irrelevant. The watch matters, not the packaging.
need your review on Seiko sub brands like Alba/Loris. they have some great under 100 USD divers which can be a good alternative for someone looking for a cheaper seiko
I have a few Pagani Fauxmegas and Faulexes and although totally unoriginal, they are pretty good for the price and they scratch the itch. Especially when it’s your videos that cause the itch in the first place! Keep up the great work.
You’re not alone sir, Sub, Batman, James B and lastly a Moonwatch. All great to wear, able to do boat work without worrying that I’m going to clonk the price of a 150hp outboard on my wrist. You can’t go wrong with a Pagani.
I think for all those complications (that most people would never use), a date would be the most useful thing. I realise most vintage watches don't include a date window but they are homages so should. Still have the Pagani Daytona which has ticked my cheap but expensive looking tachometer watch. The vk63 seems good too. those better quality Pagani riveted bracelets and clasps are great.
I have this SM on my wrist at the moment. I agreed with everything you said. It’s my first SM and my first ST movement so I don’t mind the manual hand winding and the bracelet. Please do this more often!
The quality feel (having tried the Tudor), is street's ahead of course, but then you pay for quality. The Pagani gets my vote over the SM, they've made more of an effort on looks, but the Pagani clasp as usual, just falls short. But I'd still buy one.
Great comparison Jody. Not too sure about the 70s porno soundtrack though 😂. It's a real shame with that Tudor lume, they got it right with their BB58 so no reason to not get it as good on the chrono.
At first glance my pick would be the San Martin with the ST19 movement. I know it's an old movement but for the price it can't be beat. My problem though, with the naked eye this is a beautiful movement and I want to see it. Without a display back it's a deal breaker for me.
Love the comparison video as always Jody. Would love to see some more like this, like the Tudor FXD vs the tactical frog homage or Tudor Ranger vs San Martin homage
Really appreciate the review! Been looking at this Pagani. Seems like one of their best watches so far. Interesting how the VK64 beats the more expensive movements without any real drawbacks.
I've really fallen out of love with my Black Bay Heritage 41mm to the point where I haven't worn it for six months. It's far too thick and the lack of half links plus an on the fly bracelet adjustment means I just can't get it to be comfortable. It will be up for sale soon...
I recently fit rubberB rubber strap (black/blue) on my BBH41 with blue bezel and it has now become my daily wear (from almost never wear it) as it looks so stunning that I forgot it's thick.
Had only worn 41mm Tudors on Everest or Vanguard rubber until recently, and was surprised to find the bracelet does not fit me. Cannot stand the fake rivets anyway so will see if the non riveted version fits.
One should stress how much of value proposition in the Tudor is the movement: Brietling B-01 improved with silicium hairspring + tungsten rotor... 5k Tudor vs. 8.5k for the cheapest Brietling (+ the water resistance, ceramic ball barings...)
GREAT video! It's really nice to see these brands and homages compared to each other, "head to head to head"! (However, you could drop the background muzak, though…) 😉
Full marks to Pagani. The diver's extension does not bother me but why did they not go with the date complication. Thanks for the entertainment Jody it is a definite cheer up today.
More of these please! How about: - Rolex Daytona vs. Sugess automatic chronograph vs. PD-1644. - Omega Speedmaster vs. Phylida Speedy homage vs. PD-1701 v3. - Omega Seamster NTTD vs. Heimdallr Sea Ghost vs. PD-1667 (and/or any of about a dozen others).
I almost bought the SM, but the Sugess Zenith withthe ST19 caught my eye and it's a ton cheaper. Would love to see a review. As for these the SM offers a great package but the BB is so hot I would worry about someone noticing it. With the Z homage no ones ever heard of them🤣 Not non watch people anyway. A fasinating comparison, thanks J.
I paused the video when you had all 3 up. They actually do a pretty fantastic job at emulating the original for the amount of money they charge and you would not be able to tell the difference when you saw one on wrist at 10 feet away. I think there is some merit to pride of ownership and we all agree that we wouldn't proudly say we have a PD in our collection but I'd personally rather put that extra $4,700-4,900 to more watches or my vehicles.
I do PROUDLY say I'm wearing a PD and I can afford the Tudor. (And I do have high end watches) But...I also have over 100 watches and they can't all be high end, that's for sure. On my wrist at this moment is a PD Air King homage, looks fantastic and plenty of $$$ left over to donate to dog rescues.
I could not believe the cost of the Pagani Design from the last sale. It took weeks to arrive, but my wife took it as soon as I opened it! She loves this watch. I have to admit, for the money, it’s a solid watch. The adjustment of the clasp can be dumb. But, hard to be pissed with a $100 / or less watch.
I just bought this San Martin. Can Anybody please drop a link for a display caseback? Ive googled and youtubed and read comments reddit etc etc... nothing tells me what size ir what part for this model. There are display case backs but which one for this model?
St19 is not the only mechanical choni option under $500. I just picked up a Detroit Mint Mechanic for $400 that uses a valjoux 7750 clone. It has a 2 year warrantee as well.
That is probably my favorite watch the Tudor chronometer panda dial. I would grab the San Martin in a heartbeat because I really like their watches, love the fact that they have Seiko movements usually on the automatics, but I just can’t get around that off white dial. I wish it was white like the Tudor. I really like the San Martin bracelet. I’m happy that they did bring it over to this watch. I really like how it wears the finish and I really like the on the fly adjustment. I think it’s a top-notch bracelet on a watch of this price category.
13:23 Pagani is not for diving 13:58 Tudor is a dive watch My experience is that any 100 meter water resistant watch is perfectly fine for diving, at least down to 20 meters, I don't go any deeper. So I see this divers extension as a plus.
Actually I have the PD-1701 Version 2. It has the same diver’s extension. The extension is just spot welded to the clasp. It is very weak and would not take much to break it. Also Pagani Design says that the PD-1701 is 100m WR. I got some seepage when doing the dishes so I don’t quite believe them. Say what you want about Invicta, but they are pretty water tight.
I appreciate the honest reviews of homage Aliexpress watches. San Martin is right on spot in delivering a "watch", while the Pagani Design is a small watch, imo it is for teenagers, or for women. As nice as the PD may look on video, seriously is weird small watch, has that Armitron disposable feel to it.
Other than the horological value held by collectors and enthusiasts, I don't think anyone can justify any advantage of the thousand dollar plus auto movements, over the 20 dollar quartz. They both tell time at the end of the day and the quartz does it at least as well, with less upkeep and no expense beyond a battery..
Cheap copies are a lot of fun. However if you have any kind of eye for quality the Tudor shines. And the 'feel' of quality is abundant. If you love it get the Tudor AND a clone to hack around with. Best of both worlds. Great comparison thanks for the look. PS...the San Martin looks like a great deal a lot of their watches do actually.
The Pagani extra extension would save me a bracelet replacement, therefore I LIKE it!!! Great review and comparison of these watches. I think I’m going to save up and buy the San Martin. It looks to be the Best Buy if the bunch.
Hey Jody. I was just explaining the concept of homages to a young family member and now I realize I should have just sent him the link to your video. Well done mate
I took delivery of the Pagani just yesterday. Nice watch, nice bracelet and I don't mind the diver's extension. Between us the wife and I have 4 early 2000 Tag Heuers and all of them have the identical design extensions. My major gripe is the bloody 24 hour sub-dial. By god I hate those bloody things. VK64 are endlessly configurable, Pagani really should have bought the one with running seconds.
You highlighted my biggest complaint about Tudors. My Black Bay GMT is amazing but the lume is,as you say, underwhelming. Still love it though...Cheers!
Not my favourite Tudor. And as a result I'm not that keen on either of the copies. The lume and dial colours on the San Martin ruin the clean and crisp panda aesthetic (TBH, it almost looks dirty 💁🏻♂), and the Pagani just looks cheap. I would be interested to see a San Martin version of the reverse panda/black dial, and maybe with a blue-coloured lume? That usually looks a little whiter in daylight. That would be my choice.
I'm looking PD-1718 and PD-1644 now but i can't choose correct one. Which one is more comfortable and has better finishing and better build quality. Comfort and build ( specially bracelett ) most important for me. ( Sorry for my limited English :) )
Gotta love that the tudors Chronograph hand doesn’t even line up at the 12. And why are you complaining about the dive extension? Sometimes when it’s hot or when I sleep with a watch on it’s nice being able to quickly extend the band.
Nice comparison Jody! After watching this video I think I would pull the trigger for San Martin (Tudor is of course out of my range :D), though dimensions on Pagani are better for my not so large wrist.
I’d like to take a Seiko solar speedtimer movement and dial, and install them in a Tudor or Daytona inspired case. Thus providing screw down crown and pushers for the solar speedtimer.
Great comparison - as always, quite impressive what both homages can pull off at their respective price points. What’s with the „I just entered a bar in an early 90s point&click adventure“ music though? 😅
When I got to my local AD looking for Pelagos, I saw the BB Chrono and it was in that coloration. There's no way I would choose the San Martin or Pagani instead of the Tudor. No way in hell. The watch in person is stunning and I really like the movement co shared with Breitling. This isn't me trying to be a snob, but don't just disregard the Tudor "because it's expensive". If I have to get a cheap chrono I would go the Seiko Flightmaster instead of the two homages any day. Anyone who claims the San Martin and the Pagani are better choices over the Tudor while disregarding the Seiko Flightmaster is on heavy dosages of copium.
The Pagani is again insane at the pricepoint. I looked at it and didn't figure out how to start it, with this hybrid design :P I wonder if I have to open it's back.
I think the UGS mean Upgrade Grand Series. When Pagani first released the panda they had a different caseback that stated UGS...but it was unpopular so they switched the caseback design....
I have a Heritage Black Bay with the rivets and they don't bother me at all. I really like the bracelet. Kudos to Pagani for including them. That caught me by surprise I must say 😁❤
Just got back this morning from Switzerland. My god,it’s amazing. And I got an email while I was away to say my blueberry Seiko was being shipped to me Monday. Plus came home with a mission to mars too. The missus will go garrity 😂 5 Joint 50th coming up later this year and myself and friend gave ourselves £100 for a homage on Ali express. I opted for the Batman pagani and personally want to keep it to myself (it’s amazing) Hope all’s well Keep up the great work Jody 👍🏻
I didn't realize San Martin now used the seagull movements! Massive game changer for me, as I passed on their chronographs as the movement was meqaquartz.
Fourth Now that that's out of the way, if I bought the Tudor version I would get the black and gold version on the leather strap. It's something different from the panda dials but I would go with either color combo if I was getting one.
San Martin has really stepped it up from last time I looked. Last few videos of their watches have been a surprise. There is no "homage" here, these are straight up copies, Chinese style (meaning, getting better and better). Can't help but feel a bit bad for all the swiss brands getting knocked off at 90-95% and under 10% of the street cost.
You're being way too hard on San Martin for the bracelet. It's fine, even great, compared to other major brands offerings at $300. The movement is more of a concern, and the green lume is a bit of a turnoff, although it helps the hands to stand out a little from all that white.
Fun review I like it and the level of detail. And this isn’t directed at the reviewer but reality is if you can afford the Tudor and aren’t trying just to look like you can afford the Tudor, you’ll by the Tudor. If you can’t this will help decide between the other two. Last Spring I wanted a GMT for my working vacation in France from California. Could get the Christopher Ward before I left so just for fun I got the Pagini homage to the BB Pepsi GMT. Looked cool, GMT function is awful, can’t even set it accurately. Tried the Tudor in Genève, with de-tax and no CA sales tax saved ~759USD, now that’s a fine watch, flawless GMT function and easy to set. (Just don’t like the rivets that much) I’ll wear the Pagini if I’m doing yard work, for 85USD worth it.
Great video and nice to see all three together. Is it just me though, does the Tudor bracelet look mismatched? Looks like the finishing/colour is different? Looks a bit like it's come from a different watch?
The San Martin looks brilliant, I have to say that I always thought the tudor looks a bit out of proportion but the San Martin is absolutely stunning.
As a man for whom a $100 watch is a major expenditure, this video is right up my alley. :-) Thanks Jodi!
Why? Would it not have been just as good if Tudor were left out of it?

I realise most vintage watches don't include a date window but they are homages so should. Still have the Pagani Daytona which has ticked my cheap but expensive looking tachometer watch. The vk63 seems good too. those better quality Pagani riveted bracelets and clasps are great.
I don’t know how San Martin do that for the price
Great video Jody 👍
I like the San Martin bracelet!!! Quality and Finish is stunning. Awesome video. Cheers.
Bought the Pagani when first released, is one of my favourite watches. I'm fine with it being meca-quartz.
Uncle seiko makes half links for most of the Tudor range
Had only worn 41mm Tudors on Everest or Vanguard rubber until recently, and was surprised to find the bracelet does not fit me.
Cannot stand the fake rivets anyway so will see if the non riveted version fits.
One should stress how much of value proposition in the Tudor is the movement: Brietling B-01 improved with silicium hairspring + tungsten rotor... 5k Tudor vs. 8.5k for the cheapest Brietling (+ the water resistance, ceramic ball barings...)
Went with the Pagani. Still wear the NH35 homages more often. Good review. Last San Martin I bought was a Sumo homage.
Did you make this in a lift? Background music is really distracting!
As a "poor" guy, this is like some justification to buy affordable watch somehow ha ha. Kudos
How about:
- Rolex Daytona vs. Sugess automatic chronograph vs. PD-1644.
- Omega Speedmaster vs. Phylida Speedy homage vs. PD-1701 v3.
- Omega Seamster NTTD vs. Heimdallr Sea Ghost vs. PD-1667 (and/or any of about a dozen others).
Thanks Jody and Mr X for this comparison review. 👍
Very interesting comparison. Nice to be able to get hands on with that Tudor.
I bought the seagull panda a few months ago from Ali express. I agree, they do a great job and I grab it quite often.
IMO, I think Tudor is the perfect aspirational watch. But San Martin is one of the best affordable brands you can buy.
Hi Jody, for me, a SM without the exagerated green lume and a mecca-quartz at ca. $200 would be the pick! Regards
Great review as always Jody. Shout out to Mr.X for the first class watch collection
Another cracking video… but what with elevator music? It gave me flashbacks of being dragged around Meadowhall Christmas shopping
I used to work in a mall in Edinburgh.....
Love this format of video. Seeing the original watch next to your favorite homage pick always ends up with me having less money in my account…
San Martin's lume is great but don't like how green the indices are in normal light
Just got the Tudor BB Panda,I love the watch. Is it perfect? No but is anything?
13:23 Pagani is not for diving
13:58 Tudor is a dive watch
My experience is that any 100 meter water resistant watch is perfectly fine for diving, at least down to 20 meters, I don't go any deeper.
@@acftmxman Yes I have not worn any Pagani so far, I did dives with 100 m rated Casio, Mondaine and CWC, neither of them leaked.
Mil y tantos dólares, certificado cronómetro y aún así el Pagani resulta ser más exacto 🤭🤭 gracias por la reseña,
That’s exactly the comparison I was interested to watch! Thanks❤️
Ace review Jody, 👌 keep the good work going mate.
Great review, but mate I can't with the backing music. Not sure if it's just too loud or if it's just a bad match, but it didn't work this time, Jody.
The Pagani extra extension would save me a bracelet replacement, therefore I LIKE it!!! Great review and comparison of these watches. I think I’m going to save up and buy the San Martin. It looks to be the Best Buy if the bunch.
I think the hands are slender to make de sundials more visible, it is a chrono after all. Thanks for the excellent comparison by the way. Cheers
Tudor and Oris are kinda killing it as far as luxury watches go. That Propilot X from Oris is amazing, and Tudor does everything well
Gotta love that the tudors Chronograph hand doesn’t even line up at the 12.
The Tudor every time. if I had the money. My BB 48 is immaculate but I have also bought the PD as it is a steal for the money.
"Leisure Suit Jody in the land of the bargains" So, there you have it! 🤣
@@diydad7704 hahahaha. Amazing 😂
Love this style of comparison video. Very well done.
UGS= Ultra good stuff.
I have no opinion on the watches since I'm not really into chronographs.
Ha! May as well meant that mate. No idea!
Pagani makes the best value, the best looking beater watches :D You just don't have to worry with them, just enjoy.
The missus will go garrity 😂

Joint 50th coming up later this year and myself and friend gave ourselves £100 for a homage on Ali express.
I opted for the Batman pagani and personally want to keep it to myself (it’s amazing)
Hope all’s well
Keep up the great work Jody 👍🏻
Awesome comparison 👌🏻 , the music threw me off a little bit though
This is crazy timing! I’ve just been looking into the San Martin vs Pagani. Cheers Jodi
how about which ones feels better to the touch- blindfolded
I didn't realize San Martin now used the seagull movements! Massive game changer for me, as I passed on their chronographs as the movement was meqaquartz.
Fourth
Now that that's out of the way, if I bought the Tudor version I would get the black and gold version on the leather strap.
Just on looks, I really like the San Martin. Nice video mate
Hello mate! Good to see you. Always a weekend highlight! 🤠
Thanks for watching Oliver!
I love how the censor bleep does nothing but provide a highlight to the expletive.
