what are you watching in October??
Just a warning for wrong turn 5 btw, the ending gets super duper dark for no reason at all. It’s def the worst of the bunch for that, just bugs me the wrong way and I never want to watch it again. It’s so cruel and *MILD SPOILERS*, there’s SA that’s so implied that it’s basically as disturbing as if they showed it. It’s kind of silly up until the last 20 minutes or so, but then it becomes infuriatingly repulsive imo. Since I’ve seen from your videos that stuff like this disturbs you (and rightly so) I’m just throwing this here since I’m sure few people have seen it and remember about it 😭
have you seen Psycho Goreman? good costumes
Most of "Carrie" (the original 1976 version) takes place in the fall; maybe add that to he list?
Definitely do a FNAF review. You a fan of the graphic novel series and/or games? 🐻🐰🐥🦊
I saw Ghostwatch when it originally aired here in the UK. It Caused chaos. It wasnt billed as a mocumentary it was advertised as serious and filmed as if it was serious. The bbc isnt known for its humour so for them to make this and not say it was fake was genius. Its now very dated but its one of my favourites.
That is so interesting! Thank you for sharing that!!
Also check out BBC’s 1957 April Fool’s Day prank depicting a Swiss spaghetti harvest! I learned about it while learning about Ghostwatch.
There was actually disclaimers before and after the show saying how it was a drama but I think everyone was so scared they didn't notice haha
That was how the first Paranormal Activity was in the US for a good majority of people tbh
@@simogenic Ahh i turned on and it had just started so didnt see.
Rose Red is actually coming to Hulu on Oct 1st for anyone who is interested 😁
omg thank you i had no idea, i haven't seen it since it aired on tv way back in the day, i'm so excited!
In the US?????
@@tiffethaRose Red is free on youtube in is entirety right now.
@@MercedisBowden yes!
THANK YOU!!! Appreciate the heads up!
Might be a little silly but I rewatch ParaNorman every October season. It’s just so comforting and goofy and really puts me in the Halloween mood
Great one!
Saaame. Such a good double feature with coraline
Perfect Blue is one of the greatest films ever created. The many layers to it, the characterization of the main protagonist, the creepiness of having "fans" and just the sheer horror elements had me kicking myself that I had never watched it before or earlier. It's a shame the director/writer Satoshi Kon passed away way too early. He was incredibly influential to modern directors like Arrynofsky and Nolan who have directly (who perhaps have not admitted it) been inspired by his films.
Arronofsky actually secured film rights for Perfect Blue, just so he could replicate the bathroom tub scene in Requiem for a Dream.
I love seeing someone else who loves Rose Red. It's so good ! And l love that they do more practical elements and not all animated😍🎃
I have been looking for it for years….it’s not streaming anywhere I can find
@@DellaSparkles I don't know if you have a store called Mega Replay where you live, but it's a used movie/game/show etc store where I live. They have 1000s of movies. It's kinda insane! That's where I found my copy! I saw my library even had a copy too!
I think I saw this movie when I was really little. The image of Kimberly J. Brown brought the memories back. Forgot it existed. But I found a digital copy online and will be giving it a rewatch too.
You can find it on youtube
@DellaSparkles it's streaming on hulu now they added it yesterday
Oh my goodness I remember when Ghostwatch aired. Honestly everyone thought it was real! It was really well done given its age. Brings back lots of memories!
80s horror is truly amazing! That is wild to me that you haven’t watched a lot of 80s horror, you’re missing out.
You got any you would recommend?
Right? 70s and 80s horror is the golden era of horror....not sure why one would just stick to 90s and 2000s horror since those decades were largely awful and almost killed the genre outside of a few good ones.
@@aflawedhuman2046you can google 80's horror for a decent list. That doesn't go into b movies
@@aflawedhuman2046 "The Thing" "Aliens" (it's more of an action movie, but it has plenty of horror), "They Live" "The Shining", "The Burning", "Chopping Mall" (pure 80's cheese!), "Pet Sematary", "The Fog" (in fact, most of the stuff John Carpenter did in the 80's), "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Poltergeist", "Dead & Buried", Tenebrae", & "The Beyond".
That's 13; it should give you a good start. (-:
@@fisheyenomiko I've seen the thing, aliens, the shinning, pet sematary, the fog, nightmare on Elm Street movies, newer poltergeist( I need to watch the older one)....the others I will definitely give a watch, thank you for the recommendations
*YES* on follow-up review for all you watched. Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks for the content. Happy Spooky Season!!!
Last October, I found a 31 day film challenge I liked but decided to watch only new-to-me titles, with an additional focus on foreign or lesser-known films. When I logged my reviews on the discord channel I was a part of at the time, I often felt pangs of nostalgia upon seeing the poster art for many of my fave horror films. BUT . . . I did not falter and I did not regret my choice. And I am doing the same this year with an additional focus on seeing films that have been on my mind, my watchlist, or that I feel are important to the genre that I have missed over the years.
Last year, I also read a few new-to-me books & graphic novels during October (I typically re-read World War Z by Max Brooks & 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King and something new), but I REALLY need new glasses and my appt isn't until 11/9. (So, I'll be catching up for Jólabókaflóðið. Maybe I'll really get into the winter monsters.)
I love Perfect Blue so much! It's got some quite unsettling scenes but its themes and animation are great.
I loved Gothika from the minute I first saw it. Actually inspired me to study criminology and psychology and university. Love seeing someone else appreciate it
I agree. It didn’t get the best ratings and I loved it.
Same. 13 year old me loved it so much that it’s name was part of my first ever embarrassing middle school email. 😅😅
I rented it and watched it twice. I just re-watched it and it's still good.
Rose Red is so underrated and love rewatching that! Great list!!! A follow up would be fantastic!
Mommy's little scoot about still livess in my head rent free lol
I always watch The Faculty every first of October!!! I need to rewatch Rose Red this October in honor of the late Julian Sands and I wish that it would get a rerelease!
Ah so pleased that you got Ghostwatch on your watchlist. My uncle wrote it! All these years on people come up to him and tell him that they made them that they had to sleep with the lights on for months 😂 Some more modern horror movies have cited it as an influence too. It’s inspired heavily by the infamous Enfield Haunting which was the basis for the Conjuring 2 amongst other horror stories.
Your uncle has a lot to answer for, apparently! 😄 Great writing! 🔥
It was brilliant...one of the best nights I ever had as a teen x
I hope you love The Changeling. When you say “cozy horror” I think it fits the bill. There is also currently a series on Apple TV called The Changeling that is so far, pretty creepy.
You’re in for a real treat with Halloween 3. Yes, there’s no Michael Myers but the story is great, the gore is amazing and the cinematography screams Autumn. A sorely underrated gem.
I've noticed over the years, it's imdb rating has been gradually climbing! Some people ay? 🙄😅
Silver shamrock!
I second this! Also, as great as "Halloween" '78 is, the fact that it's Halloween is... not that much of a factor in the movie? Whereas for "Halloween III", it's crucial to the plot.
Oh Yeah "Season of the Witch"!!
@@fisheyenomiko Good call!
I saw Perfect Blue at my local theater earlier this month, it was fantastic! I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Rose red definitely put that on my list ❤
I literally was struggling with my choice 💀💀💀
Saved my final girl Halloween season 🎃
"Ghostwatch" is incredible and crazily ahead of its time. I'd also recommend you watch it before "The Enfield Poltergeist" (ironically, they're both based on the same "real life" haunting")
I absolutely love ROSE RED. I remember watching it when bored af one night and creeped me the hell out 😅😅 GHOSTWATCH is so good and classic. I remember my mom saying that when it came out it freaked everyone out, thinking it was real. Even the adverts before and after the mocumentary were in with it all 😅😅😅😅😅
Yes, a follow-up of the shows and movies you did watch from this would be great! 🎃
I love Rose Red and The Changeling! Rose Red definitely underrated and I hope you love The Changeling! I don’t hear many people talk about either one of them
So glad you are expanding your horizons with older horror! Can't wait to hear your opinions on the older stuff!! Love your channel!
I have a long story about my experience with Rose Red but I'll keep it short.
When I was a kid in the early 2000s, I was sneakily watching Rose Red one day on my parents' little TV in their bedroom. I was watching it out of sheer morbid curiosity since I was closeted from anything horror related until I was an adult. I would quickly flip to a kid's channel before my parents walked in.
For 20 years since then, I kept having the same vague memories of that miniseries. It took me a lot of Google searching to finally find it! I now own it on DVD and have watched the entire thing since. 😃Plus, it was filmed in my home state of Washington in Seattle and Lakewood.
For the longest time, my memory thought it was Christina Ricci in the Annie Wheaten role. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out I was wrong and it was Kimberly J. Brown in the role instead!
I’d love a follow up next month on the films you did end up seeing, basically the “what I watched in October” vid. Also would love a stand alone review for The Exorcist Believer!
The Changeling is one of my favorite movies. It’s haunting and George C Scott is a powerful actor. I will definitely watch again. And yes, please do a follow up video after you watch them.
YES! Some Rose Red appreciation! Super underrated, bit too long maybe but the vibe is fantastic
I love Gothika so much, it’s the perfect movie to watch in the beginnings of spooky season because of the cold fall vibes 🍂
I watched The Enfield Haunting when it was first on TV in the UK. It came not long before The Conjuring 2, and I liked it a lot more. I like the Conjuring 2, but this just felt more subtle and real over the Conjurverse style and obviously without the forcing in of the Warrens or linking to other films. I hope you enjoy!
One thing about Ghostwatch is that it was advertised as a real live show. The hosts on it aren't actors. They are respected and serious newsreaders and journalists so people thought it was real.
Rose Red always gets me In The Mood for Halloween
Rose Red was Stephen King's fictional take on the real world Winchester Mystery House in California.
Always such a pleasure to get those great movie recs from you
The Changeling is like a core memory for me. I was probably around 10 years old and it was on TV at my friend’s house. We watched it and it has been burned in my brain since. I’ve only seen it once more. Time for a rewatch.
I have SUCH weird disjointed core memories of Rose Red from my early childhood and I could *never* figure out what it was and I figured I must have made it up or dreamt it. I am so so so excited that now I know what it was and can watch it again 😭
Rose Red is a good watch.
So are The Langoliers and The Stand if you like Stephen King television adaptations.
This playlist is really nostalgic to me, really appreciate this
i’m so excited you’re watching perfect blue and ghostwatch!! i can’t wait to hear how u like them if u decide to do a follow up 🥺.
Thanks for the List and Video 😀
Ghostwatch is huge among uk horror fans, so maybe not so surprising you hadn't heard much about it (i also had it recommended via uk horror podcasts and fandom)
Perfect blue is also excellent and I'm always happy to see someone new experience it!
Yesss I would love a follow up video 😍 I remember you recommending Ghost watch and I watched it and really enjoyed it!
Ghostwatch is GREAT and the story behind it (War of the Worlds-esque situation went down when it was broadcast) adds so much fun. Just putting yourself in the shoes of someone who clicked on the tv and saw news anchors who they were used to seeing on normal broadcasts, experiencing an apparently "real" haunting, is really really fun. It rewards you for paying attention, because it's designed to play a trick on the audience by showing subtle stuff that the anchors don't notice while it's "live". I'd love to see a video of your impressions of it!
ghostwatch has been on my list for a while now too!! also you will LOVE Perfect Blue, it's incredible
I love your rose red rec, the front exterior of the house is actually a real place called thornwood castle here in washington state and is nowhere near the location in seattle the movie puts it at. Highly recommend looking up pictures
Rose Red is now streaming on US hulu, just fyi
Rose Red!!! Talk about memory unlocked, thank you for that! I couldn’t remember the title either but it creeped me out so much as a kid. Now I know what it’s called to watch again 😅 🙏🏻
Ghost watch is iconic. I think it’s one you really should see at least once and it’s very spooky Halloween feeling
Rose Red is one of my favorite series actually, I watch it several times a year. I not only have the movie but the additional movie acting as a prequel! The other series worth a watch is Kingdom Hospital by King he did after getting hit by a car so he tied it into the plot. So a nice haunted hospital mini series, not as horror as Rose Red or any of the Hill house movies. Plus I am so in agreement about Trick R Treat, one of my all time favorite movies!!!! Love your channel!
The is a (German?) Kingdom series I watched a long time with the haunted hospital vibe. Are these related?
So had to do some research, it look like Kingdom is the Lars Von Trier version of the original book Riget. And was released a little before KingdomHospital which was Stephen Kings version of it. So they are the sane amount of episode and pretty close in plot but from what I read the version you saw was a bit better! But yes very close story wise and I may and try and find the one you saw! Thank you I learned of another cool haunted location series!
Went through all of your Halloween videos and a few others from other RUclipsrs and put together a long list to watch this month. Love your content and thanks for the movies.
I adore The Changeling. Watched it when I was very little, and it was amazing! The sound design is fantastic. It really adds tension. Also, I dare you to bound a small handball after this.
Hearing you mention rose red made me so excited that was the first horror I ever watched! I remember watching all in one night cause we were to young to know it was a mini series 😅
I loved The Changeling. Great story and George C. Scott is great.
Ghostwatch and Perfect Blue are AMAZING! Thank you for another great recommendation list
And Rose Red has been a favorite of mine since I watched it when it aired on TV in 2002.
Yes we need a follow up! Ghostwatch is sooo good!!
The Changeling is based on a house that used to be here in Denver right by an old cemetery that got turned into a park. There's still bodies buried there, they just moved the headstones. The house was demolished in the 70s or 80s and now this apartments. Just a little bit of trivia I think is cool. I used to live across the street from there.
So excited to hear you mention Ghostwatch! I'm old enough to remember it airing on live tv at the time. Please bear in mind when watching it, it was billed as a "live" investigation, it was only in the very small print - that most people missed - that it was for entertainment only. It traumatised so many people, the final scenes were quite chilling (for the time!). For years I honestly thought I'd made it up because no one else I knew remembered it, only later on I found out it had very tragic real life repercussions for at least one sensitive viewer.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who knows about Rose Red!! I remember it being quite creepy when I was growing up! I hope you do a review video for it 😄
rose red is literally my favorite horror property ever!!! so glad you mentioned it, defiantly underrated.
Rose Red!!!! My grandma insisted she never let me watch it at her house when I was a kid... so I must not have seen it on a tube tv from a couch covered in plastic. 😉
I finally tracked down the dvd last year too and it is just as good as I remembered!
The Changeling is a classic. George c Scott is an Oscar winner. He is also excellent in The Exorcist 3.
One of my very favorites. I just watched it on RUclips.
Perfect Blue.. yaaas I’m excited for your dive into satoshi films
I absolutely loved 'The Changeling' but that was when it just came out. Who doesn't love George C Scott? Also-A 'Ghost Story' is excellent. An oldie-but goodie! Have fun!
I remember A Ghost Story. Yes, that is a very good movie, not well known.
30 days of night? Forget Rain this one has snow !!
Love your choices and content! I definitely have to revisit Rose Red, I remember LOVING that when I was younger.
Your videos are saving me. I live in Japan and Halloween/spooky season isn’t really a thing here and it’s my favorite time of the year. Thanks for making Halloween content to help my spooky fall mood ❤
Perfect blue is SO good!!
Omggg yes please do a review once October’s done and let us know what you saw !!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼
The Changling is seriously one of my favorite movies. It's so good. I usually watch during October: Dolls, Return of the living dead, Killer Klowns from outer space, Trick or treat, The Boneyard, Popcorn, Nightmare on Elm Street, terrifier and Candy man. I love older horror. I love practical effects and cheesy horror movies. I'll definitely be checking out some of these on your list!
Rose Red is actually going to be streaming on Hulu starting October 1st.
I love these recent videos. You've had some really creative new topics & discussions that I'm very interested in.
That shirt is incredible! 🤌🏻 Can’t wait to check some of these out! 🤩
Great list! There’s lots that I haven’t seen or even HEARD of! Adding to my list.
The Rose Red mini series is coming to Hulu in October!!!
OMG YAY
The Changeling is one of my favorites. My acting teacher/mentor gave me a copy he made on VHS for my birthday when I was 11 or12 and I was riveted. The plot/mystery is so intriguing. When my VHS wore out, I found a replacement on DVD and a few years go It was remastered and put on blu-ray.
Rose red was a great made for tv movie! Silver bullet is always on my October watchlist!
The Enfield Hauting is so good! I watched it because I was a bit obsessed with the case and I really liked the mini serie!
Night of the Demons (1988) is an absolute Halloween must! It embodies so much of what Halloween movies are meant to be and very entertaining. Give it a shot if you haven't seen it, you won't be sorry 😉
So they actually just put rose red on Hulu, after freaking 21 years of it only being on VHS and DVD it’s definitely one of my favorites from what I remember
Recently discovered your channel. Love your videos. I had the pleasure of being a kid in the 80's so I got exposed to so many greats. Day of the Dead in the theater...Return of the Living Dead, etc. I love obscure horror movies, especially foreign ones. A guilty pleasure is Nightmare City. The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue is great and often unappreciated. So many to list. You made some good recommendations in this video I have not heard of before.
Ghostwatch is SUCH a treat!!
Ghostwatch was way more entertaining than I expected! Has some spooky moments, for sure!
Please do a follow up video!! That’s such a good idea
Ypu will LOVE Perfect Blue. It is pretty intense but unforgettable. I've always wanted to see Ghostwatch, so I'm glad its in Tubi.
Also, the Einfeld haunting was the inspiration for the Conjuring 2
Gothika is so damn good!!! I cannot believe anyone hasn't watched Rose Red, I love that one. My son loved it so much when he was just a little boy. I had it on VHS and I'm so mad I just abandoned my VHS collection. I'll kick myself forever for that. A movie that is incredible that you or anyone else should definitely watch that got not NEAR enough love The Cell. It's incredible and Vincent D'onofrio is amazing in this movie!! Edit* wait have you not seen The Cell, I just looked for it on your channel don't tell me you haven't seen it!?! I'd recommend to anyone else my favorite every year watches The Collector, and The Collection and here's hoping they actual follow through with the 3rx installment of these incredible movies. Another fun rewatch Ghost Ship, another one of my favorite openings to any horror movie ever.
GIRL YOU NEED TO WATCH THE HALLOWEEN SERIES! It is my favorite horror franchise 🎃🔪🖤 can’t wait for your videos on the franchise
The Changeling & Perfect Blue are incredible
The Enfield Haunting was also featured in The Conjuring 2. I don't know about A Haunting in Connecticut, but The Conjuring 2 is what I remember the case from.
Yes please do a follow up video or videos if you extend into November & December!!
I’ve seen most of what you recommended & out of all of them I really enjoyed Ghostwatch the most. It’s a must see movie for Horror lovers.
I love Ghostwatch! And I finally got around to watching Perfect Blue last week, it's really good. There's a particularly harrowing scene that would probably keep me from watching it twice... still great.
Thanks for the recommendations and I would so watch the followup video!
perfect blue is amazing! every year since 2020 i’ve watched tried to watch a new horror movie a day every october and found some of my favorites that way. i highly, HIGHLY recommend “under the shadow” (2016)! while not super halloweeny, it had me at the edge of my seat the entire second half!
I hope you love Gothika on a rewatch! I love that movie so much. And I'm adding The Last Broadcast to my October list! I remember my friend writing about how it came out around the same time as Blair Witch in his book about the making of Blair Witch!
i will watch anything you post, so yes i’d love a retroactive recommendation video
I love The Changeling! I love the setting and the house and I find it genuinely creepy. I hope you like it. I love early 2000s horror as well but my favourite era is definitely the 70s/80s. The original Halloween is my all time fave (along with Alien) that's so great you're watching them all. I love 2 and I think 4 and H2O are really good ones as well
Perfect blue is awesome! 🤘🤘Ghostwatch I think were the first ones to coin the term stone tape theory, which is a really interesting theory on what ghosts could be
I remember seeing Gothika in the movie theater...the twist blew my mind!
Yooo! I love rose red, I remember watching this as a kid! Very underrated
Yess! followup video please!!
Thank you so incredible much! I knew I watched Roses red years ago on TV (it was my first horror movie) and never were able to find it or its name ever again. Maybe because I never searched "mini series". Thank you so so much. It made me love the genre and got me started on paranormal horror movies. That is so nostalgic for me.
I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who's been trying to hunt down Rose Red for years. I remember enjoying it as a kid and when I saw the movie poster in your thumbnail I thought is it finally streaming! Yes, it's streaming on Hulu. So of course it's been added to my Halloween season watchlist.
