Here are my picks! Summer Camp: Fear Street 1978 Camping: The Descent (close enough lol) Hot Summer Nights: The Lost Boys Bad Trip With Friends: House (they don’t trip but it’s a trip to watch) Summer Vacation: The Cabin in the Woods Drinking Game: Tucker & Dale VS Evil (drink every time there’s a misunderstanding haha) Roadtrip: House of Wax Too Hot to Think: Bones and All (gross sweaty southern movie) Back to School: Raw
Ok my random summer recommendations: The Clovehitch Killer (Hot Summer Night), Funny Games 2007 (Family vacay), Friday the 13th Part IV:Jason Lives (the best F13 film imo. Meta before meta was a thing and this film literally makes you feel like you are at summer camp!), Cujo (summer day hot sweaty gritty, underrated as ****), The Hitcher (either version, road trip), Fright Night 1985 (Back to School), Night of the Creeps (1986 party drinking game), April Fools Day (1986 Summer Vacation), Creepshow 2 (too hot to think).
Bodies Bodies Bodies would be PERFECT for a summer storm movie night! It’s also good for a summer movie night with friends to just throw on and watch and vibe out and laugh at the ridiculousness of it all
Vintage horror will always be my jam in the summer, anything that feels like it belongs at a drive-in. The older, the more bizzare, the shorter the better. Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959) and Island of Lost Souls (1932) being particularly good ones. Nothing like a good sleezefest complete with dramatic fainting and guys in rubber suits. Thanks for the recs!
Frogs (1973) was a Cheesy good horror movie. It's not that scary, unless you're afraid of actual creepy crawlies lol. Also, you see a young Sam Elliot as the main protagonist which is neat!
I love all your movie recs! Now I can’t wait for summer ☀️ You mentioned a young Elijah Wood being in The Faculty. I had the hugest crush on Josh Harnett! So here are two video ideas: 1. Famous actors who got their start in horror movies or actors who have starred them (ie: Johnny Depp, Kevin Bacon) 2. The best “creature features” (ie: Jaws, Lake Placid).
hell yeah !! i always need more summer/daylight horror to watch. i know a lot of people know about it but to me it’s not summer until i watch sleepaway camp and fantasize about bringing back the outrageously cropped shorts
Midsommar and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre are the two best Summer horror movies I can think of. Once Upon a time in Hollywood is the best summer movie that's not a horror
this is completely unrelated but i just wanted to comment and say that you’re by far my favorite youtuber and i get so excited when you post 🥰 i rewatch your videos all the time because you just have a very comforting voice and way of talking. i love that you’re a mother and i just know you’re absolutely amazing at it
Loooved this video!! I'd also add All The Boys Love Mandy Lane in this list!! Kinda has similar summer vibe as texas chainsaw from 2003 in my opinion! Plus of course Midsommar, I love watching that close to Midsummer and we even watched it with friends a few years ago on midsummer night and it was the perfect movie for that obviously hehe
4:43 Ohh my gosh, you just unlocked a memory! When the first paranormal activity movie came out I was in junior high! My friend downloaded it on his iPod and we would share a set of headphones and watch it in the short moments after classes! It probably took us over a week to finish the whole thing! For the next couple in the franchise we would do the same thing! What a fun memory! Thank you for reminding me of that!
Yes!! There are certain movies that are so effective to watch on a small screen. Growing up in the age of RUclips, I love watching foundfootage on my phone. My brain thinks its even more realistic, like I'm watching a video on the internet
Texas Chainsaw and The Hills Have Eyes are my faves! I saw someone mention Cabin Fever and I remember that being a favorite of mine back when it first came out. You look just radiant in this video btw!
If you haven't seen Brain Damage (1988) or Matango (1963) I'd definitely recommend them. House (1977) and Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) are very trippy too even though the stories don't really have anything to do with psychedelics
I think you would really enjoy Dying Breed from 2008, it's got Leigh Whannell in it and it's set in Australia, basically a group of friends are trying to find evidence of the Tasmanian tiger which has been assumed extinct but they end up finding something much more sinister...very cheesy, but has a really great ending and it's a great backpacking/hiking in the wilderness horror!
I guess if you tend to a kind of summer melancholy, it follows could be the right film. By leaving out exact sense of time and parental figures, the film feels very much like summer holidays, but very melancholic.
Great recommendations Sarah ! I'll give you my selections for the UK summer........ Fear of rain , The Fog and although it's not a horror .......Frozen !!! I'm sure it'll improve ☂️⚡⛈️
I love how they never show Bigfoot in Willow Creek, like it could all be an elaborate cover-up for something much more sinister. Also, I wonder what’s going on with Wolf Creek 3…
Have you ever seen “the Woods”? It’s a B movie but it’s one of my favorite comfort horror movies, which I never hear anyone talk about. Could be good on a list of horror in the woods type movies
The first season of the Wolf Creek tv show was also great! The second wasn’t bad either. Mick w is such a great psycho. And I will never go to Australia as a result. 😂
I can relate to what you said about watching a movie in bed. I watched the first V/H/S movie late at night on my iPhone when I was sick with the flu & it made the experience all the better.
Nice list. If you haven't seen it I'd highly recommend Harvest Lake. A group of friends go for a weekend at a lake house in the woods. Unbeknownst to them something lurks below the lake, and its snare is pheremonal. It's a low budget film that's really well made/performed, and the practical effects are kinda Cronenbergian...but it's not body horror, it's flora horror. The ending sequence is also quite something to behold.
Wolf Creek is one of those horror movies that I've seen once and I can only vaguely remember the plot, but I do remember that it disturbed me to a surprising degree. Always a little afraid to watch that one again...
As you were talking about Disturbia originally having more R-rated leanings, I thought it would be really cool to have gotten two different cuts to see what they could do with the same story for different ratings. I think that would just be a neat concept in general.
In the vein of sorority row and final destination, I’d say maybe devour? It has Jensen Ackkes right before he was in supernatural so that was cool to see. Devour is soooo weird and good and cool.
I think a good category that you could add to this is lake settings. Lake Mungo and Eden Lake come to mind, although the former doesn't really take place around a lake, it is still worth a watch. Eden Lake is devastatingly cruel and intense and I love it for that. Thirdly there's a Dutch movie literally translated to 'The Pool' (2014). Two families go on a camping trip, but when they camp next to a lake someone seems to be sabotaging their trip. It's comparable to The Witch. It's not really good, but it came to mind.

Would love to see a back to school list honestly
I like this idea!

Here are my picks!
Summer Camp: Fear Street 1978
Camping: The Descent (close enough lol)
Hot Summer Nights: The Lost Boys
Bad Trip With Friends: House (they don’t trip but it’s a trip to watch)
Summer Vacation: The Cabin in the Woods
Drinking Game: Tucker & Dale VS Evil (drink every time there’s a misunderstanding haha)
Roadtrip: House of Wax
Too Hot to Think: Bones and All (gross sweaty southern movie)
Back to School: Raw
Ok my random summer recommendations: The Clovehitch Killer (Hot Summer Night), Funny Games 2007 (Family vacay), Friday the 13th Part IV:Jason Lives (the best F13 film imo. Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959) and Island of Lost Souls (1932) being particularly good ones. Nothing like a good sleezefest complete with dramatic fainting and guys in rubber suits. Thanks for the recs!
Taste of Fear (1961) is a great one, too :)
Gonna stick The Giant Spider Invasion on that Summer list xx
Frogs (1973) was a Cheesy good horror movie. It's not that scary, unless you're afraid of actual creepy crawlies lol. Also, you see a young Sam Elliot as the main protagonist which is neat!
I love final girls. Such a sweet relationship between the two main girls
Same. One of my favourites.
Fear Street Part 2, Midsomnar and Cabin fever are my favorite summer horror. 100% on the back to school horror list 🥰
The faculty is such a classic!
Love the faculty sooo much 😭❤️ just rewatched it this week
Loved your movie recommendations as always! I think X is also a movie with strong summer sweaty vibes

Yes. Yes do a back to school horror list.
Great recommendations! Thanks Sarah! 🤗
I recommend: Jeepers Creepers, Wrong Turn, Midsommar and X
Wishing everyone the best summer! 🌞
I think It Follows, Midsommar and Scream would have to be added to my list.
Yeah it's a bit on the nose but I was thinking of midsommar too.
Jeepers Creepers would also be a good one for back-to-school. (I forget which one is the one with the high school kids in the school bus).
Love Summer themed Horror movies AND books! Good ol classic fun. Missed you!
Great list, Disturbia has to be my favorite❤️ btw This blue makes your eyes pop like crazy you look soooo pretty ✨
I love all your movie recs! Now I can’t wait for summer ☀️
You mentioned a young Elijah Wood being in The Faculty. I had the hugest crush on Josh Harnett! So here are two video ideas:
1. Famous actors who got their start in horror movies or actors who have starred them (ie: Johnny Depp, Kevin Bacon)
2. The best “creature features” (ie: Jaws, Lake Placid).
Yes and yes!
I love Sorority Row!! Such a good one
Yes, please back to school list :) The Faculty, Cherry Falls, Urban Legend, Halloween H20 off the top of my head.
I just made „back to school horror“ video - it was so fun to rewatch these all
yes!! would love a back to school list. i love disturbia. i loved this list!
Back to school I think of Scream
Just rewatched it for my back to school list and loved this movie sooo much
BACK TO SCHOOL HORROR FILM, YES PLEASE. Every year, when August hits, I go on a school horror binge.
hell yeah !! i always need more summer/daylight horror to watch. i know a lot of people know about it but to me it’s not summer until i watch sleepaway camp and fantasize about bringing back the outrageously cropped shorts
Midsommar and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre are the two best Summer horror movies I can think of. Once Upon a time in Hollywood is the best summer movie that's not a horror
Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon has great hot, buggy, swampy summer night vibes, though I honestly don't know if it counts as horror
Love that Smile decoration
this is completely unrelated but i just wanted to comment and say that you’re by far my favorite youtuber and i get so excited when you post 🥰 i rewatch your videos all the time because you just have a very comforting voice and way of talking. i love that you’re a mother and i just know you’re absolutely amazing at it
It doesn’t feel like summer with all the gloomy la weather
I think we summon the darkness would be a good summer pick too
Thanks for the post love you're content 😊😊
🎯4:20👁
Joyride, Cabin Fever, Wrong Turn
"Triangle" Girfriend. How could you leave that one out its a favorite of all time lol.
That 70s chainsaw masacare movie is super summer also. Love that one.
great list! one of my fave summer picks is All The Boys Love Mandy Lane. it's a good mix of school/summer/roadtrip!
OMG, for Family Vacay, I would definitely have to pick Jordan Peele's "Us" !!! It's perfect- I watch it every year now!
Great list! Another add is And Soon the Darkness if readers are looking for a summer/daytime horror from the 70s.
Loooved this video!! I'd also add All The Boys Love Mandy Lane in this list!! Kinda has similar summer vibe as texas chainsaw from 2003 in my opinion! Plus of course Midsommar, I love watching that close to Midsummer and we even watched it with friends a few years ago on midsummer night and it was the perfect movie for that obviously hehe
it was david lynch who said the thing about watching movies on phones
ah thank you!
4:43 Ohh my gosh, you just unlocked a memory! When the first paranormal activity movie came out I was in junior high! that shirts a great movie
Another good summer vacay vibe movie is The Ruins
I would have to pack up some more stuff and my son too have a good weekend thanks for sharing
Dude, I've been avoiding Shrooms but I'll definitely watch it when I'm more awake :)
lol i expected things like midsommar and it but i guess theyre very very popular, great list tho! :)
I try to pick ones that aren’t SO obvious :)
The queen of summer movies is Midsommar and honorary mention to Sleepaway camp.
I love when it's winter in Australia and Americans posting summer videos
I love final girls.
Texas Chainsaw and The Hills Have Eyes are my faves! I saw someone mention Cabin Fever and I remember that being a favorite of mine back when it first came out. You look just radiant in this video btw!
I’d love a vid on psychedelic horror recs! I love the few I’ve seen but I really wanna experience all the subgenre has to offer
If you haven't seen Brain Damage (1988) or Matango (1963) I'd definitely recommend them. House (1977) and Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) are very trippy too even though the stories don't really have anything to do with psychedelics
Sorority Row is an ultimate fave. It was the first R rated horror I bought. I still have the pre-viewed DVD that I bought from a closing blockbuster.
I share your taste in horror, I LOVE the ones between '95 & 2010 the most
Such a fun video concept! Love this list! Please do a part 2!
And The Final Girl is AWESOME!!
Yay! I used to hate horror movies earlier in my life, but now I love them, which means I have so much to catch up on! Thanks for the recs!!
The Faculty is soooooo great and perfect end of july/august movie!
The Final Girls is an underrated horror comedy masterpiece
I think you would really enjoy Dying Breed from 2008, it's got Leigh Whannell in it and it's set in Australia, basically a group of friends are trying to find evidence of the Tasmanian tiger which has been assumed extinct but they end up finding something much more sinister...very cheesy, but has a really great ending and it's a great backpacking/hiking in the wilderness horror!
sounds amazing!
I guess if you tend to a kind of summer melancholy, it follows could be the right film. By leaving out exact sense of time and parental figures, the film feels very much like summer holidays, but very melancholic.
My favorite summer horror is Summer of 84. I saw it in 2018 as a teenager and it has really stuck with me ever since
Great recommendations Sarah ! I'll give you my selections for the UK summer........ Fear of rain , The Fog and although it's not a horror .......Frozen !!! I'm sure it'll improve ☂️⚡⛈️
Really nice and original top! I love the mood thematic tops! great job!!!
Wolf Creek is intense, and very well made, true! It’s truly horrifying, simple but effective
I think another good category or mood would be swimming & beach/pool party. 🏊♀️ 🏖🌊
Thanks for another awesome vid Sarah, I’ll be checking some of these rec’s out for sure
The car crash at the beginning of Disturbia is the scariest movie car crash I've ever seen.
Sorority Row and TCM. Absolutely!
Awesome video! I'm interested in the back to school video!
your aura is bright on this video, sarah. love to see it!
My recommendation: Piggy (Cerdita), a Spanish movie about a girl who is bullied. It is a summer time movie, and the heat is really importante
The first season of the Wolf Creek tv show was also great! The second wasn’t bad either. Mick w is such a great psycho. And I will never go to Australia as a result. 😂
Love this Rec video. ❤ made me want to rewatch so many of them
Have you seen dead of summer? It was a series. I think it flew under the radar. Really enjoyed it
i think A Perfect Getaway can be a good vacation summer type movie. its a thriller!
Great picks❤
I can relate to what you said about watching a movie in bed. I watched the first V/H/S movie late at night on my iPhone when I was sick with the flu & it made the experience all the better.
Great list! I also think of Friday the 13th and Jaws as summer movies.
I’m all about the fun!!
For road trip, the Outwaters works well too!!
I Know and I Still Know What you Did Last Summer are definitely in my summer horror movie list
i need train/subway horror movies
great idea
Creep!
You have the best mood descriptions ✨
I adore Sorority Row, I’ve seen it so many times
Wolf Creek is one of those horror movies that I've seen once and I can only vaguely remember the plot, but I do remember that it disturbed me to a surprising degree. Always a little afraid to watch that one again...
Same never forget it...early 2000' was still golden era of horror films and thrillers
Sorority Row is so underrated! Its so good!
The concept for "Disturbia" sounds similar to Hitchcock's "Rear Window" (1954)🤔
A Possessed by Horror video is just what I needed today! Thank you
Love this list! Summer atmosphere+horror = perfection. Also, Faculty is such a gem :)
A great summer horror movie for me is Truth or Dare, the 2017 TV Movie! And Jeepers Creepers, of course!
Glad you included Willow Creek! So good and it really paid homage to The Blair Witch Project which is one of the best!
As you were talking about Disturbia originally having more R-rated leanings, I thought it would be really cool to have gotten two different cuts to see what they could do with the same story for different ratings. I think that would just be a neat concept in general.
I'm happy to see that you put The Faculty in the video , It's one of my favourites and I've watched it atleast a couple of times
In the vein of sorority row and final destination, I’d say maybe devour? It has Jensen Ackkes right before he was in supernatural so that was cool to see. Devour is soooo weird and good and cool.
I love Wolf Creek!
Great video! I would love to see your recommendations on sea/ocean horror i.e. tropical vacations, cruiseships and general marine themes!.
My ex and I watched Shrooms when we were SUPER stoned. Those were weird times in my life.
My fav summer horror theme is Suburban Kids in the 70s/80s/90s/2000s kinda stuff (like IT etc) Any recommendations are welcome😁
I think a good category that you could add to this is lake settings. Lake Mungo and Eden Lake come to mind, although the former doesn't really take place around a lake, it is still worth a watch. Eden Lake is devastatingly cruel and intense and I love it for that.
