Another great review, these Maserati , coupe included look so practical and usable. An Italian once told me that pimps and pop stars drive Lambos and Ferraris while gentlemen drive Maseratis!
Yep, it's so great seeing them revive an old tinny but quirky similar model from the past and make it look so modern and stylish. And the sound of the Petrol one, wow! Just checked and overall the new Ghibli's have sold over 10 (ten!) times the last _two_ released models combined!! Bravo, so happy for Maserati they deserve it
If you compare harry to Doug demuro you realize how much time doug wastes explaining every single switch and button. Not to mention the ridiculous doug score. Harry gives us something different compared to everyone else. Love Harry’s channel.
Doug, Chris, Harry, Hoovie, Sofyan, Alex, carwow, throttle house, etc... Its a great time be alive with our car passions fueled through so many great reviews at our fingertips! They all bring something unique..
@@josejr1901 No, he's not an idiot. Harry is much more focused in driving experience, building quality, technical aspects and his style is much more "sober" (like Chris Harris, Tiff Needell...) while Doug's videos are much more focused on presenting the cars "quirks and features" (less than 20% of the time of his videos is actual driving) and his style is much more "funny" (like James Pumphrey, from Donut Media). Doug and Harry don't even have the same porpose, they don't have the same style, they're not from the same generation... Gerry Freeman a 2015 is compelling even right now! Less issues than the ‘14, in theory. Shoot, wait until we see a more pronounced economic downturn. Some great deals will be there for the taking.
If I'm not mistaken, the dash and console is straight out of the US Chrysler 300, just heavily wafted in leather....same dials though. If it's on the same chassis, it's riding on a Mercedes E Class from 15 years ago.
I was very close to getting one of these, but decided against it since the Maserati dealership was a ways away. Got a 2015 335i instead and got a huge cut in MSFT.
A refrigerator is more car than a 335i. Automotive white goods are not for petrol-heads! Go comment on the washing machine channel if that's your thing? Harry's G is for us car lovers!
10:34 The 3.0 litre diesel, the 8 speed ZF gearbox and all the infotainment/satnav are the same on a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck in the USA. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Great review. I have just driven the Ghibli S and the Levante Diesel. The Diesel is surprisingly good, but it is still feels like a diesel. Petrol definitely the way to go. The S model is the one to have. Gear changes still a bit slow compared to rivals like the M5.
At least Doug knows to use a lavalier mic during driving sequences. After years of listening with difficulty to Harry trying to talk over the road noise, I’m getting impatient.
Fellows Automobile Absolutely, I grew up with the oldern style Jags. They are great cars, but most people prefer to drive an Audi imitation without any style...
My old girlfriend worked for Maserati in Dallas and she would bring home various models for a few days at a time. The engines of all their models are the best part of the marque, with reliability being absolutely revolting. Seeing Dodge switch gear and gps U/X is a bit disconcerting. Great ride quality and seats!
Only reason for a sale here in the US has been. So you don't drive the same car as your landscaper or personal trainer. Not a BMW or Audi or WantaBENZ anything less than S or E.
'It has more expensive feel than the price would suggest' - I guess it means that other supercars are either extremely overpriced or the difference in accelleration costs a LOT more than anyone would expect...
Is that an oil dipstick I see? I much, much prefer to check my oil manually than wait for an idiot light to tell me in the middle of a trip that my oil quantity is low. My Jag mechanic tells me a new-generation XJ lunched it’s engine because of a too-late oil level warning. Jaguar replaced the engine under warranty but still . . .
Would love to know what is so hard about providing an ordinary manual transmission as an option... Diesel passenger cars I predict are going to disappear pretty soon after the Volkswagen scandal, as it seems it is actually impossible to make a diesel work within the regulations.
+Simon Coles I do agree - personally I don't like the over complicated gearbox situation in many cars these days. But I think the VW thing will drift away - they'll pay a few fines, re-engineer the cars etc. and in a few years most people will have forgotten about it because the majority of people are not that interested as a car is a means to an end.
+Simon Coles I don't know where you are living, but in Germany 48% of all new cars are Diesel powered and this will not go down even a little bit. And it looks pretty much the same in the rest of Europe
Until EU governments stop pumping our tax money into that fossil fuel. Diesel is heavily subsidised by clueless bureaucrats who think diesel=green Earth.
It isn't just VW that have been fiddling the test results, many of these tests are a little irrelevant anyway, a lot of diesels are remapped or have emissions equipment removed/disabled. Some of the emissions stuff makes them very unreliable anyway, it is no wonder that people fiddle with them. Sometime ago I got to drive a supercharged V8 Jaguar XF (petrol) and then jumped into a diesel one, I must be getting old because I preferred the diesel. Oxides of nitrogen seem to be the biggest blight to the internal combustion engines of today, it will be sad to see them go.
Its not impossible to bring down NOX emissions from a diesel engine. Its been done very succesfully for heavy diesel vehicles already. However for cost reasons the car industry has chosen to cut corners for light passenger vehicles, and for reason, which is buyond me, European legislators and authorities have turned the blind eye to this for a decade or more. Another question is, if there is still any cost advantage to consumers, if European governments stop tax subsidizing diesel vehicles and actually enforce the NOX emissions regulations, which should officially have been in place for many years already. For smaller cars and the majority of consumers at least the answer is probably "no". And for that reason the diesel boom in Europe has likely peeked, and we will move instead to hybrids and in the longer run EV vehicles as the way to bring down CO2 emissions as well as local pollution.
I don't really understand the draw to Maserati. Bad Italian engineering? I get the Pininfarina design aesthetic but sheesh. Better ways to spend money on a car.
It's for people who like to be a bit different everyone and their dog has a BMW no one will look twice at your car...rock up in a Maserati and you will get noticed get it
Bad Italian engineering? Says who? The dude who’s probably never owned one. Italians make great products from clothing to food products to tools. And the cars are fabulous. But I digress. Enjoy your Corolla.
Mr Harry....the noise the car makes...actually the exhaust ..let's be honest...is a lot more engaging than the noise you make.... This is only a question...when you take your wife out for dinner....do you ever find her slumped face down in her food halfway through the evening ?....just asking
Another ugly Maserati...yet again. It's got that typical "inspired by a bar of soap" look to it The proportions and lines are just off.. it looks narrow, high & long... not exactly sports sedan inspiring. I don't think Maserati has ever made a truly good looking car.. It seems like they're constantly struggling to find their look & always end up with mediocre cars by trying to take design cues from others (without much success)
