@V P I do know about their automatons however we are talking about wristwatches. They sit differently on other shelves. A lange for chonographs with tourbillon and sonnerie which was quite robust versus jaquet droz fragile art watches.
V P Ten years ago I became friends with a well-known watch retailer (in the New England area). He carried many high-end names. I recall that he dropped JD because of concerns over quality control. I certainly hope those problems are behind them now...

The design is over 200 years old too. I thought it was a modern minimalist take at first.

The ALS Lange 1, the Moser Venturer Small Seconds, and the Habring2 Doppel 3 are all pretty close to perfect.
With a voice and intonation like this, one can make any miracle a reality to believe in.

I have a 1966 Eternamatic Super Kontiki. It was my Father's. I have had it for 25 years now. I wear it everyday and it keeps great time still. Every watch guy that sees it loves it.
I don't have much love or enthusiasm for watches but I love how this guy talks about history and mechanics

My nearly perfect watch without being too expensive (as you asked) is the Hamilton Khaki Auto. It has an automatic ETA movement, date function, can be dressed up when required and works great in the field.

My head jumps to Nomo Weltzeit. It has some many creature comforts, innovative design, great proportions, high standards of finishing, it is just an over all complete package. The only thing is that it is not a watch with a lot of history (yet!). That thing has a lot going for it for how much it costs.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the KonTiki's instant minute change. That's a feature usually reserved for much, much more expensive brands.
Don't know why instant minute change something special... I mean it's basically a mechanical watch mimicking the minute change of a quartz watch

The perfect unlimited budget watch for me would have a Lange finishing, a Breguet tourbillon and hands, and a JLC movement.
Budget constraints: Oris Rectangular Complication. Great pedigree, rectangular case, curved sapphire glass, and a guilloche, sunburst dial with polished applied Arabic numerals (which reflects light light a diamond sans bling).
Day sub-dial at 3, Date sub-dial at 9, GMT sub-dial at 6, and Moon Phase at 12. Never seen a GMT and Moon Phase complication together before. Under $1000 if you can find it.

Can we have more Jaquet Droz watches? Perpetual calendar and ones with birds? I know they are expensive like hell, but non the less they are are the state of art, and that's what your channel is all about!
My favorite affordable watches are the Oris Aquis, Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon and now Eterna Adventic GMT as of last week. I really enjoy these watches and feel thr quality supercedes their price points.
I love the Case and bezel of the eterna. The subdial position and the hour markers are absolutely perfect. But the chapter rings of the subdials are just too bulky and the ring in the middle of the watch are just not my type. It is a 90% watch... just not enough for me to consider putting it on my list
Nice to see an Eterna being mentioned. I don't hear too much about them, but I'm currently wearing one from my Gramps.
My Glashütte Panoreserve (new grey Version). Putting it on makes me happy. Same as wearing the old Glashütte Spezimatic from my Grandpa.
So much history. I especially liked the story of Eterna.
Love the Eterna feature, I recently purchased a manual wind vintage Eterna Tank, really happy with it. Would be nice to see the brand have a resurgence.

I like the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Ref. 10340: Automatic, 42mm black dial, stainless steel case, 100m water resistance, date, well protected crown, sapphire glass and a beautiful bracelet for under 1,500 £. For me a robust and affordable watch to wear on a beach - maybe worth a review?

You know. I'm watching this from a third world country and not very sure if I can ever get a hold of these luxury pieces in my lifetime, but I'm always always drawn in by the beauty and history of these watches. It helps that the narrator's voice is so calming too.
Most of us can't, but what makes us great is that we can appreciate beauty without envy. Always believe in your inner strength and goodness. I hope someday, with hard work and belief, you can escape your country or make your country the dream you have.
These are inexpensive for very very wealthy people. How many heating bills and bags of groceries could this watch provide people in need.

Regarding the new Eterna... The Eterna royal GMT (2013) and chronograph (2016, featured here) are the only two “company transitional” models I think are worth looking at.

For me it’s Vincent Calabrese Night and Day with brown/gold crushed paper dial. I love wearing the watch and can never stop looking at it, but I only do so on special occasions as the watch is so rare and I don’t want to damage it or lose it.
So clean design! Love it !
my ideal watch would have these functions: 1) Complete calendar, 2) 6/8 Days of power reserve and related indicator, 3) lunar phases, 4) a mechanism to ensure the minute hand is automatically adjusted to the exact position corresponding to the actual seconds of the seconds hand.

Don’t feel the point in spending over 10k on a watch without a sapphire caseback.
That Eterna is beautiful, the story behind the watch along with the heritage of the brand makes the whole line worth looking into. The basic Kontiki (still 200m) can currently be picked up at below £600-£700 in the UK at that price I don't think I can turn it down! (If anyone owns one I would be very interested to know what they're like to wear) thanks!

Tudor Pelagos (blue) is one of the best values on the market IMO
When you get one in your stock, please review a watch with the ETA caliber 205.111 (e.g. Seamaster Omegamatic 2514.50.00). A quartz movement with automatic winding is such a crazy thing

I recently got a chance to see a "Junghans" in person, I'd never held one or even knew much about the brand's history. It reminded me of Germany architecture, and the AD remarked it is indeed one of the Bauhaus inspired brands. He showed me the Max Bill Chronoscope and I was blown away - it actually struck me more than Nomos. The AD asked me to guess the price, and I gave it an estimate of between 5K-8K; was shocked to realise it was worth less than 2K brand new. Going to add it to my collection next week.
@V P A Max Bill Limited Edition of 1000 Pieces, with Caliber: J880.2 (base ETA 7750) and Power Reserve of 48 hours didn't seem like too much of a bad deal for 2K. The watch is beautifully crafted. I think it would make a wonderful dress watch.
@V P No. Wow. You, apparently, have no clue about pricing in the modern world. The Meisters at Junghans do not ask your opinion about pricing for anything. Nor does anybody else, of that I am sure. Pricing of any good is not based upon the opinion of V P. What you will pay has ZERO significance upon either the market or pricing structure. So why do you feel compelled to shit on someone else's opinion with your opinion? Are you buying the watch for him? Then put down the keyboard, man.
Good on you, my man! They are great, once you get it in your hand, it is undeniable. I purchased one a year or so ago, and it will stay in my collection.

The Droz has been on my wish list for awhile. It wasn’t until the proliferation of these resell sites that I could imagine owning one. But, I just purchased the Omega Moonwatch for my retirement so the next purchase is down the road.

as much as I see the appeal of most Rolexes (I do long for a few of the models in their catalogue), the fact that you can actually buy an Omega without becoming a circus animal for your AD is really refreshing.

Seiko Prospex looks like shit to be honest. It looks cheap. There are a huge number of seikos that look way better than that and much cheaper

Sorry but you somehow forgot Favre-Leuba this brand was founded a year before jaquet droz. And are still going today.
They owned JLC from 1969-1976 (or there abouts) and have a fantastic history.
Hopefully one day you could do a video on the bivouac, or the deep blue. Or any of the other iconic pieces they created.
