Characters like that burn out fast because the writers can't keep upping the crazy ante without quickly becoming ridiculous. I was ready for Gyp to go just like with Ramsay Bolton in _GoT_ and Tommy DeVito in _Goodfellas._
In my opinion Gyp Rosetti was able to climb the mob ranks due to his ability to use violence at the drop of a hat.. But he didn't have the level of intelligence to maneuver with the top level bosses..& this weakness is what got him in the end,.
The difference between the Italian Mafia and the Jewish Mafia, the Jewish Mafia were violent when they had to be,where as the Italian Mafia at least in this series was violent some times just for the hell of it.
@@andersonjohnsonjr57 This series was really good at showing the chaos of the gang wars in that era and why Luciano set up the Commission the way he did.
As was pointed out, Gyp's lack of respect for his men should have gotten him killed sooner than it did. You don't survive as a gang boss by instilling fear alone. You have to have a crew that has your back. If you don't have that, you're a dead man walking.
Billy Kent was sad but we see it over and over. What can happen when you get too close to a guy like Nucky. The random motorist that was just trying to help him may have been the coldest overall. Guy wasn’t in the life, didn’t do anything but try to help out Gyp
Even if he was my boss, I could never see myself allowing him to keep breathing after the mechanic. He must have had top notch security to last as long as he did.
Lol i always cracked up at how they were confused as to why Richard attacked them. When they were on the beach, one of the wise guys saying "the guy with the mask, wtf was that? 🥴" 😅
Your voice is like velvet. Bobby Canavalle is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Also born and raised in New Jersey, he looks like all of my uncles and male cousins on the Italian side of my family. His character Gyp, in Boardwalk Empire, was one crazy mo-fo! He certainly upped the ante on the show. I thought he was sexy as hell, even with his psychopathies. I recently watched his death scene on the beach and have been reciting his lines as he mimicked Nucky Thompson. Also, I’ve been singing the “Barney Goggle” song, lol! Thank you for another noteworthy narration of Gyp’s character on Boardwalk Empire.
The 'sitdown' he had in the church with God....abdsolute cinema gold. What made it even more special to me is that i could actually relate to it...i have felt that way when things have constantly not gone my way. in fact i think we all have
“ Tell me Priest. Where does God keep the money” Yeah that was bad. Might have to do a video just about the worst things he did. Thanks for watching, appreciate you fam
@@scottevans2685 He's tied to a chair in the afterlife and sees Alden standing over him with a gold crow bar while God is behind him, saying, "I want my money back."
I’ve been watching some old Boardwalk eps here and there, mostly seasons 1 and 2, but I think I might just watch season 3 as a whole, so I can enjoy me some Gyp.
That camera view looking down on Harrow while he was turning right and left laying waste to Gyps men was bad ass! I mean, my boy just went right into a full house of armed men, atleast10-15 and fucking ended the war.
Rosetti's flair and temper mixed with his jump to dire conclusions to bolster loyalty/impressions with violence are part of his character foil and would've always been tied to his story. Basically he was always gonna pay the price, it was just a matter of who and when. His wit and strategy were beautiful but sadly the weight of his deep seated venom and anger would always outweigh his skills and multifaceted, even cultured personality. The experienced cruelty and ruthlessness (especially the disrespect with that shovel lol) that always teems just behind the surface of his restrained grin makes him a dangerous and capable antagonist, with the ability to feign genuinity. TLDR he's evil but gotta love how the way* the guy operates and carries himself. :p
I just love how I finally got myself invested in B.E. after straightening out my deal with Optimum and getting MAX, that when I found Family Guy using simply "Bobby Cavanale" reference just to make clear that they're talking "Italian"... despite him only being 1/2 Italian 😜
The poor cousin buried in the sand was Gyp's worst act. The man was only giving information in a humble way about the tides and it would have been a warning enough to others if Gyp had dug him out of the sand and allowed him to live.
I like the scene in the church where he’s crying to God at how miserable his life is, then 5 seconds later he assaults a priest. Maybe that’s why God ain’t listening, Gyp. Really though, what is it with people who live a life of crime and expect good things to happen to them?
I started to rewatch Empire... I don't get how his mind works. Dude takes offence over a trivial thing 😅 like just a gesture to say good fortune on Italian and dude was like in tears to seek answers to wtf that Irish bastard nucky meant by that 😂😂. His shift of moods is bit hilarious but scary at the same time. BTW love your videos man. Keep them up.
World war 1 wasnt no cake walk, alot of soldiers came home either deformed, amputee's, mentally ill, or in caskets(if they were lucky to still be intact or found)
As much as I loved the character of Gyp Rosetti, imo he's fictional for a reason. This is because I believe a guy like this would not last very long at all in reality. The mob really wouldn't stand for a guy going around killing people without the go ahead and murdering tax payers over trivial nonsense and just bringing a ton of unnecessary heat and attention to operations which could get everyone pinched.
Rewatching this, there might be some people who are offended by some language, and I apologize for amplifying it. I feel like I could make a better video now without the slander and just a better video in general. Once again, I apologize for the language, I figured it was self-explanatory with Gyp but that was Nieve of me. Working on a video about Lucky and Meyer and please let me know if I should do Gyp pt 2🙏🙏👍👍
At one point he must’ve been good to his men because people will not follow a pompous prick right off the bat. If he was a real person I would say he was a young kid inside who always thought he got the bad end of the stick. His true colors emerged once he gained power.
I use "creeping around like a dentist with ether" to this day
I’ve used it once or twice myself🤣🤣🤫 Thanks for watching
Everybody knew gyp wouldn’t last. His kind never does, too hot, too loud, never will back down

The innocent motorist, then took his dog. Hated him from the start.
He was fun to hate. I gotta admit, thanks for watching
In my opinion Gyp Rosetti was able to climb the mob ranks due to his ability to use violence at the drop of a hat..
But he didn't have the level of intelligence to maneuver with the top level bosses..& this weakness is what got him in the end,.
He feared no one BUT Richard Harrow.
True.. Richard might have to be the next Boardwalk Empire video
Gyp thought Richard was used to scare the rats, but he was used to scare the gangsters.
Pretty sure he was afraid of Masseria.
Killing Franko was the most disrespectful Gyp Moment
Gyp Rosetti's violence was his weakness. He had the brains but his violent ways caught up with him.
Yeah, he was very reckless.. good point

Violence and red heads.
Had all the makings of a varsity athlete, Bobby Cannavale would be the one guy to carry on the Sopranos series in the wake of Tony's death.
Wearing that bicorn was the most disrespectful act Gyp ever committed...
😂👍
I will always appreciate that Gyp showed me how difficult it was to kill a breadstick in a bow tie.
Saved me a lot of hassle in the long run

I agree man, the car mechanic was tough too watch, thanks for watching bro
But let’s be real, it coulda been a wrench
If just for a couple of scenes he could've controlled his temper he would've been endgame threat.
I think the motorist would have gotten away if it wasn't for the "it's italian" when explaining the Regina name
Great presentation. There has never been a character I wanted to die a painful and long excrutiating death. Even to monsters he was a monster.
🤣🤣🤣Thanks man, I’m glad you enjoyed

Bobby Cannavale is the best character actor working, imo.. Everything he's done has been outstanding.
I am hoping to interview him one day about his role on the show

The last season of OZ is bad, but Bobby popping up at the end was one of the more memorable things about it.
Gyp made season 3!!!! I loved when he was on screen.
One of the funniest if not the funniest character on the show. Thanks for watching😁
First vid, absolutely love your editing style and your voice is great. Much love :)
Thank you very much, I appreciate you taking the time to watch
Played "Skinny" in The Irishman.
Wish we got more of him there
Definitely a hard pick, but that scene where he melts down in the church and robs the priest is beyond blasphemous.

Excellent commentary.

The actor that played gyp, played a character in the movie the station agent, he was total opposite of gyp. Great actor.
Fucking bread stick in a bow tie 😂 gyp was the star of the show
Why was Gyp's WIFE so homely? I never understood that part of his life.

The guy you loved to hate says a lot of the character and the actor.
he reminds me of Adebisi from Oz. it takes a good actor to portray a full on psychopath like that.
i really like Bobby Cannavale, but i loathe Gyp Rosetti.
i didn't think it possible for Bobby to make me hate any character he'd play.
my fave scene is when he met chalky.
All i know is when Mr. Rosetti shows up, LEAVE. So even when he showed up in Old Dads, i left 😆

Gyp was my favorite character in the whole series
I loved the actor who played Gyp and the character but at times he was just a little over the top
Bobby Cannavale was actually the only actor in the show who won an Emmy for his role as Gyp
*The guy with the mask… da fuq was that?*
A war veteran. His face was injured in combat, also one of the best characters in the series.

season 2 was my favorite. I know Jimmy was hard to work with and had to go, but idk.
His downfall was living with his mother for far too long. That shit is not healthy for a man.
What was his downfall? Probably all that indiscriminate killing I suspect.
His downfall was self strangulation and almost being killed lol

Too much of a psychopath. Bad Business Man, has to go.
Killing Franko
I hated Billie Kent!
Personally I think season 3 is the weakest season and chip gyp though played by a great actor is the worst character out of the entire show.
