Wrong Surface operations are a serious and continuing issue at airports throughout the National Airspace System. Many of these incidents involve general aviation aircraft and pilots. The types of incidents fall into several main categories. This video is focused on one such category: wrong surface landings at airports with parallel runways with staggered thresholds.

Thanks for the vid. Number one thing would be to look at the airport diagram during pre-flight, and look for where potential problems may occur. I've seen taxiways that look just like runways parallel to actual runways (besides the markings of course). One could fly the incorrect pattern before noticing, so it's good to double check that diagram far ahead of time.

Great reminder. When possible always load an approach (even on a visual). Also utilizing foreflight and a sentry with geo-reference can help with situational awareness but it is definitely not a substitute for vigilance and proper planning.
Livermore, CA. I've flown into that airport; it's tricky because the size difference between the parallels creates a visual illusion. Make sure you're prepared for that. Use all available resources!
Question on the voiceover here.....if I am close enough to the runway to see the numbers and I am on the wrong runway, isn't it too late already? I presume I would initiate a go-around if I am over the threshold or numbers of the wrong runway because a "side-step" might not be safe.
Maybe too late to not bust a reg, but not too late to prevent a collision I would hope.
Great video 👍👌👏 . Flight ✈️🛫✈️ fleet safety is very important to reduce 💀☠️ death among passengers and aviation crew. All private Jet companies must have black boxes.
They should have gotten Harrison Ford to narrate this.
Go around may occur
