For me, the deal killer is no charging infrastructure (Central Wisconsin) and the PRICE being way beyond my budget (unless I can find a USED one in the future). If I lived in California, I could possibly over extend myself financially in order to put one in MY driveway! Btw, since ALL production of the NEW Blazer has been halted, there might NOT be any USED ones for sale, EVER!
The competition is getting tougher in the electric SUV segment. Let's be honest, this is one of the best electric SUVs so far. If it is sold in Asia, such as Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and Arab countries, it will sell well.
I get that it's awesome but I feel like every EV coming out is labeled as a potential "Tesla killer" from the MX30 to the golf carts to the nevera and taycan and everything in between. A $65k Chevy Blazer. It doesn’t seem to even register anymore that vehicles have gotten grotesquely expensive. Does everyone make so much money now that a purchase like this is reasonable? I have a decent job, but I can’t afford this thing. Not even close.
This for SS though.. base starts at 45k.. but a brand new luxury and or performance car will run you 60k+ 550+ hp and over 600 ft torque.. thats crazy for the price. Compared to the Mach E GT, 450 hp 600 ft same price.. and it's smaller.. blah
They have to make these suv/crossover’s to fund the production of sports cars and less mass produced cars that won’t make them as much money. Unfortunate but that’s how it works sadly
2dr sports coupes sell about 250-300k total unit's here in the U.S. each year across all model line's. Suvs meanwhile are 10-15x that volume. So you can imagine why they don't really exist nowadays. Wait a few for the upcoming ev Porsche boxter/cayman twins, and lotus has a smaller 2dr ev coming out around 2025 they claim will weigh within 100# of an emira. That might drive some sales. And mg has the cyberster green lighted for production as well. No idea where they'll sell it or how much it'll cost though. 🤔
Please, there are no Tesla Killer! Only competitors. And if they cant make them in high volume its more likely that GM gets killed by trying to catch up.
No not really.. you mean they need to catch up to Tesla.. that's not what tesla is about... even with all that gimmicky stuff other brands are doing.. nothing can come close to the network, minimalism , tech, and network. Sustainability is what their focus is on. Not something that is cool now to be later outdated in a couple of years like these other brands
Tesla is a tech company. And one of the reasons they're smashing everybody else but Lucid at battery range is partly because of the way the design is. Yes its not aggressive, but it is supremely aerodynamically efficient
Have the current blazer and we love it. Next one is the mach e only bcs we have had it on pre order since last year but.... after the lease is up on it.. might be going back to the blazer.
There is no possible way this is a Tesla killer, that statement has been said for a decade and never happens. Tesla is too far ahead in every aspect to be caught up to.
It's called click bait. That said...Tesla is very quickly going to be caught up to, in terms of technology, functionality, performance, and price. I admire Tesla for what they've done. But to think they will own the EV segment and that they will always be superior due to them being in the market first, is just simply wrong. What WILL take a while to catch, is the Tesla popularity, and the actual number of EVs on the road.
I rented the combustion engine version of the blazer for a few weeks and was able to do small burnouts without even trying haha. It’s a very well built and fun suv, and this looks way better in every way! Awesome electric suv for the price!

I love that you called ahead to ask them what color scheme the car is so you can match your outfit. Supes cute. I like the Blazer EV SS...but...I wouldn't call it a Tesla killer. It's the same price as a Model Y Performance, but is slower, has less range, and less tech (no Netflix, Disney+, video game console, etc)...and it won't be available for another 2 years or more. In 2 years, the Model Y will have even better specs than what is available now. So great car, but no Tesla killer for sure.

Well, a RWD Blazer model (I assumed GM would save this for Cadillac and the pickups EV models), offering the Blazer EV as a FWD, RWD, and AWD models and 3-different battery pack sizes, clearly, Chevy / GM are betting big on EVs, so, GM has 3-different EV motors (a powerful 255 kW EV motor for FWD, RWD or AWD positions, a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position, and a 62-kW EV motor for FWD/RWD/AWD assist motor, knowing the available EV motors, note, the GMC HUMMER EV pickup launch edition uses three 255 kW EV motors, 1-front and 2-at the rear, anyway), the Blazer SS EV is offered as an AWD model only guessing it offers a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position and a powerful 255 kW EV motor for a rear position, thus giving you that AWD capacity or basically the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD model setup, now the base FWD only 1LT (guessing that’s a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position motor), the LT2 (guessing the same as the 1LT FWD, but the AWD version will most likely get a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position motor and a 62-kW EV motor for RWD assist motor for AWD), next the RS trim FWD (guessing that’s a powerful 255 kW EV FWD position motor), RS trim RWD (same as RWD Cadillac Lyriq a powerful 255 kW EV RWD position motor), the RS AWD trim is the interesting one (Chevy has several options, but I’m guessing a 62-kW EV motor for FWD assist motor and a powerful 255 kW EV RWD position motor for AWD or maybe some other combination, it feels like the the RS AWD will be the model to get if you don’t need or want the SS) and of course, the SS, which I already talked about, side note, did anyone notice Chevy / GM showed all available trims of the Blazer EV outside of maybe a ZL1 version, but to date the Cadillac Lyriq has only shown the Luxury trim RWD and AWD versions, could this be because Cadillac / GM want the halo/flagship upcoming Cadillac Celestiq to be shown first with these features and tech, I’m starting to think the Celestiq could be the first four-motor EV from GM, I was assuming it would be the Corvette EV, clearly they want Celestiq features/tech to trickle down to other Cadillac EV models, but the price you are hearing means it will have to come with the goods
Hope You are wrong about putting bigger motor in front.........65% rear/35% front would be perfect and what most intelligent Engineers would plan for...............Paul
Built on the same lyriq platform hence the 6 lug wheels. Likely it'll weigh 5200-5600# like the lyriq maybe a shade lighter. Ss is supposedly sub 4s 0-60mph other trims in single motor around 290hp fwd or rwd will be very slow. Likely high 6s or low 7s 0-60mph like the lyriq is.
Ya so far every Chevy has had to be recalled. Hummers are finally being produced. A few per week. Tesla's making thousands per day. No actual competition. All talk
It’s range, 0 to 60, and charging speed is not class leading at all for the price. With a 65k msrp with 6-10k dealer markups and no tax credits available its not affordable . I’m not sure we’ll see many of these on the road. Also I’m not sure how many GM can make with in the current supply chain climate. They are most definitely losing money on every car they make get ready to bail them out again at the us taxpayers expense. I appreciate the competition with design it looks great but logistics matter when they are making these promises to the public. By 2024 it will have lost its luster as something new shiny while Kia/Hyundai, VW, ford, and tesla who are already ahead in terms of specs set the bar higher.
interesting to see someone who understands the logistics of all this... well said. this is just marketing for gm. just as ford recently threw up their hands and admitted the mach e is no longer profitable, this will not be a Tesla killer.

By and large, I'm not a huge fan of American cars in general (with the exception of the Tesla) having been raised on a heritage of amazing European motors from the likes of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti etc etc. But I have to admit, this has been done extremely well. I love the design, I love the aggressive width and stance, the interior design and space is really good and it's just interesting, whereas a lot of European EV's are boring as hell frankly. Take a look at the Audi EV's for example. Boring exterior design. Boring interior design muted with swathes of dark colours and dark plastics. It's about time that other manufacturers began to realise that our cars are no longer simply modes of transport - we want a bit of personality, individuality, a bit of wow factor. We want people to climb into our cars and go "WOW, look at this!" Not, "Oh look, more grey plastic and dark grey leather".
Well, I must say that I like the exterior design of both the Model S and Model Y. But Tesla's quality sucks!! And I hate the interior of Model 3 and Y. There is no instrument cluster directly in front of the driver. But, yes, Chevy hit a home run with this EV.

Did you bother to listen? 78 miles in 10 minutes. Dang man, how much of a hurry are you in? Bless your heart. 234 miles in 30 minutes. Don't you need to take a break after 234 miles?
It has 195kW DC charging, that's pretty quick. Most DC fast chargers are 50kW to 150kW. The onboard AC charger is 48A or 11kW that's more than enough for level 2 charging at home, you'd be charging about 35-40 miles for every hour plugged in.
Looks absolutely stunning but at 65K not sure if it will "kill" Tesla.
Nothing will. It’s just much needed competition in the EV space.
Nope but for anybody interested in more than 0-60, it's a viable alternative along with a long list of alternatives coming from Kia, Polestar, etc.. that's what will kill Tesla unless they get off their butts and come up with fresh designs (with real interiors instead of gimmicks like half a steering wheel!)

They going to add another 20k on top of that probably will be 70-80k after everything 🤣💀

I want a RWD RS. Enjoyed the Chevy reps too. The trunk opening thing seemed strange to me. A lot of time I walk past the back of my car and don't want it to open. Or if I'm standing next to it and close the garage door will it see the garage door coming close and open into it?
Yeah that's what I was thinking. This is an overkill and maybe an issue. The kick, if it works, should suffice.
I own a "20 (ICE) Blazer 2LT, V6, AWD. Bought it used in April, '23 with 53K miles, now have 65K miles on it with ZERO issues and all 3 recalls completed. I STILL love this machine, except for ONE thing..........gas mileage. I am averaging 24MPG, I guess it's not awful for a 4300LB, 308HP vehicle. The EV version looks "above and beyond" FANTASTIC. For me, the deal killer is no charging infrastructure (Central Wisconsin) and the PRICE being way beyond my budget (unless I can find a USED one in the future). It's called click bait. That said...Tesla is very quickly going to be caught up to, in terms of technology, functionality, performance, and price. I admire Tesla for what they've done.

“Tesla killer” is becoming such a corny term. Apparently every RUclipsr thinks they need to put that in the titles of their videos for every other electric car
I own a 2020 Blazer RS with 20k on it. SUPER tempting to trade it in and buy one lol.
None of these traditional OEMs have been able to sell or produce at any notable volumes. Tesla will dominate as they go out of business this decade.
What color is the sky in your world? Here on planet Earth, Tesla already lost their sales crown, lost range crown to Lucid, lost speed crown to Rimac, and lost cost/KW crown to boot! It's only a matter of time before Tesla's slice of the global pie is very small.
How many will they build? Forget about it, GM doesn’t have the batteries to compete. Enjoy bankruptcy Mary.
GM needs to copy Tesla and have MANY MANY companies helping them make batteries! Only having LG isn’t the best strategy!
@@kyliefan7 GM uses a different supplier for the Chinese market.
@@theflew That’s good to know!! I hope they can get some LFP batteries out to their cheaper line soon!! The sooner the better!
Looks good
