The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV RS Is A Big Step Forward Into Chevy's Electric Future

  • When the #ChevroletBlazer nameplate returned in 2018, it wasn't exactly the rock crawling Jeep fighter of the previous generations. Instead, #Chevrolet made the Blazer a midsize crossover SUV with a design that kind of resembled a Camaro SUV. For 2024, the #BlazerEV shares a name with the gas-powered #Blazer, but this is built on the excellent #Ultium platform which means this is a fully-electric SUV that challenges the Tesla Model Y directly. The 2024 #ChevroletBlazerEV is also very closely related to the Cadillac #Lyriq and with up to 324 miles of range and a massive 17.7" touch screen, it should help push GM to the front of the premium midsize electric SUV space.

Yikes is all I have to say, especially at the end I hear compromise after compromise compared to the ICE Blazer. As someone who owns the 23' Blazer I still find myself scratching my head why I would want this thing especially at the price. I take road trips and the last thing I want to do is drive an hour outta my way to spend 30 mins to an hour to "charge up". Maybe there are tons of EV enthusiasts who will buy this vehicle but till charging time and the ease of charging rivals filling up a tank in 5-10 mins or less I will never own an EV or consider it to be "better" than ICE vehicles. Especially at that price since the batteries will have to be replaced and no one wants to know how expensive that will be when the day comes! Also I've heard towing in EV trucks takes the range down tremendously compared to ICE trucks so I can't imagine towing with this thing will be something anyone wants to do unless it's every once in a while at best.

All in an SS is probably gonna be around $72-74K and that's being generous if they only charge like $5K for Super Cruise. Also I'm happy they've improved on there infotainment systems, but a true show of having a better product is also offering what was available to be compared. It's all BS marketing for locking you into paying them for what you could get for free before when the trial runs out. Like the charge port door being electronically assisted on the Blazer, or the electric assisted doors on the Lyriq. It never fails.
This is an amazing offering from Chevrolet for this to be part of the first generation Ultium EVs. Their designs have not only been very upscale both inside and out, but they’re all uniquely styled and look like nothing else your money can buy you. The OS is Chevy - and they plan to charge a monthly fee to use it sooner rather than later. No Apple Car Play or Android Auto like in the Ford models. GM says they are unsafe, but won't remove it from the gas models which means they don't really believe that - they just want the new revenue screen for you to use your electric vehicle. Their OS will tell you where charging stations are for example so if you don't pay for it, you won't know where to charge your car if you drive outside your region. Good luck with that Chevy. Tesla does not charge for their OS, only GM seems to plan for this.

Musk has gotten prices down to $44k-52k, while the Blazer STARTS at $56k. Tesla offers the same range, more cargo space, more speed and power, and a national supercharging network.
