    1:39 - Doug, with a straight face, notes that the starting price point of $56,700 is "pretty reasonable". No. No Doug. $56,700 is decidedly unreasonable. When GM's sales don't match projections, they will blame all else except for that laughably high price point.

    • @ReDiiKuLuS

      10000%
      Even at this price point, I believe they're also going to sell these at a loss, especially if they are only going to produce a couple thousand, maybe 10s of thousands of these per year. People want affordable EVs not expensive. Brands are losing the mark on that, if EVs were affordable many of these companies could profit once they reach economies of scale, but that likely won't happen with many, including the Blazer EV

    • @Eric-vg1gu
      @Eric-vg1gu 10 месяцев назад +9

      Came here to say this. Ford and Toyota have already decided to scale back on full-EV production and will focus on hybrids. The rest will follow. While the EV and EV range technology has improved, the price for the lithium batteries is way too high. In this case, Chevy is selling a $34k car with a $22,700 battery pack.

    • @jasongrooming36
      @jasongrooming36 10 месяцев назад +2

      They’re garbage in ten years. Battery replacement makes you buy a new one instead. So why buy one when it’s a countdown to it being a paperweight? Meanwhile ICE cars will retain their value in the long run. I see 90s cars in great shape going for as much or more today than they were new.

These vehicles feature brand new and very advanced technology, of course they may have bugs in the first few weeks they roll out. When the Japanese and Koreans have the same issues y’all don’t have anything to say. The only difference is those manufacturers would never demand the halt of all sales, they’d just keep selling them to the American public until the NHSTA *forced* a recall after completion of an investigation. Nice overview of everything the car does have but no mention of some of the important bits it is missing with the exception of super cruise. There is no apple CarPlay or Android Auto which is deal breaker for many people, the price is actually substantially higher than the competitors mentioned, no glass roof (which some people don’t mind but others do) and a much higher curb weight comparing to competitors which might actually explain the 6 lug nut wheels. Besides the looks this car has no other benefit over the competition. Not to mention the already reported huge software issues

      I guess it all depends where he gets his cars from. If he has certain dealers he works with, then I doubt he will point out the big negatives. By doing it this way, he gets all the new cars for views and the dealers gets an unofficial advertisement. Just like his Cars and Bids reviews. He will point out the very minor negative things. But at the end of the day, he still needs to sell the car.

    I don't get that alleged (as I don't believe it) bit about people not using front storage. Especially when that OEM then has a tow hook, charging cables, maybe a road side safety kit, etc, all sitting in the trunk area. Stuff that is PERFECT for putting in front storage. OEMs like to talk about how much useful storage they have in their car. Only to completely ignore obvious additional storage.

      Agreed. Also, if the vehicle can be packaged such that it has front storage, what is the reason to deliberately omit that space from being useable? But yeah, all of the accessories that come with the vehicle could and SHOULD go up front so that the rear is simpler and more useable.

    • @dwcanker
      @dwcanker 10 месяцев назад

      A good example of why they don't always have a frunk is the VW id4. They chose to give it a short front end and make the car overall smaller so don't have room after shoving all the electronics and heater and blah blah blah under there. The Ford mach e on the other hand has a huge honker of a nose so plenty of room for a frunk but then you have a longer car to go with it. Personally I'm in the don't care faction. I'd rather have that extra deep storage well in the back that Tesla also does a good job with to throw all that extra crap in rather than a frunk.

      @@dwcanker Yeah, but this Blazer isn't designed with a small front end. I'm not an idiot asking why there is no frunk on a Chevy Astro-shaped vehicle. I'm asking why not have storage available in a vehicle that looks the way the Blazer EV looks.

    • @LAndrewsChannel
      @LAndrewsChannel 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@dwcanker The problem is when you need to use that extra stuff and you have your trunk full. You pretty much need to take most if not all things and then get what you need, like the charging cable. This is eliminated with a front trunk.
      Also, in many EVs there most likely is enough room for a frunk (as in the front end of the car is the crumple zone anyway, so it can't be eliminated), but packaging would be a bit harder so they just thow in a lame excuse to not be bothered, a good example being the Kona EV, you just have a piece of plastic that mimics an engine on the inverter instead of a 5-10L box that you can put some stuff in (and yes, there is enough space there for it, many people modded one in).

    • @JT_771

      EVs and gas cars don't work the same way. With a gas car 200 vs 400 hp is going to be a big hit to your fuel mileage in the same car. The way electric motors work it really doesn't matter though. A 400hp electric motor cruising down the highway at 75mph is for all intents and purposes just as efficient as a 200hp electric motor doing the same thing, just a tiny bit more weight. Because of that we get MORE POWER because a 400hp EVs sells better than a 200hp one.

    I was fully ready to buy this thing, and so were a couple of my friends and family, until we found out it won’t have Apple CarPlay. They screwed up. Looking forward to their retraction in 2024 when their sales tank, but it doesn’t inspire confidence if they are this stupid to mess up something like that, what other bad decisions did they make to save a buck under the hood?

      Yup & then Edmunds and InsideEVs both ran into software issues with their review vehicles. Pretty bad look to shoot your shot at Apple & miss that bad.

    Doug the type of guy to try and make the case for spending $6k more when you're already spending $60k. And since we're now at $66k, that's just $34k from $100k, and $100k is 10% of $1mil. So you might as well spend the million since it's such a good deal.

    If that charge port door breaks in the open position (which, it may since it’s a GM) or it FREEZES open, which is possible if someone charges their EV when it’s raining then it drops below freezing… I wonder if you’ll be able to even turn the wheels, let alone drive. That’s incredibly stupid.

    I don’t understand how GM can ask $56k starting for this, if you can get a Mach E starting at $42k or a model Y for around $45k, both of which with better numbers

      More expensive than a Tesla performance model Y, which has two cheaper versions. This GM is DOA and has a stop sale order on it.

      4x4 SUVs are super hot right now. GM has the resources to build a Wrangler/Bronco competitor on the Colorado's frame. Instead, they slap the historic Blazer name on some mediocre crossovers and bring back the Hummer as a $120k 9000lb EV. GM is such a ridiculous company. They must see what all their competitors are doing but they're like "nah, we're good, gonna crank out some more mediocre cars because the world needs rental cars."

    Err the car is on stop sell!? Due to software issues…nice!! Have to say just saw the Hyundai Kona 2024 Electric and was blown away how sharp that car was. Top trim $42k. With Blazer I’m not impressed…
