Someone asked Stephen King if he did his work sober, would it have been worse and he said no, it would have been better. There’s a theory that his car accident marked a change in his writing, not drugs or addictions.
Youth also plays a major role in this. People generally write their best stuff between 20-40. That’s general though. He has made great stuff past 40. He’s written so much stuff it’s hard to keep yourself fresh.
@@wesleydraves1281 Not sure I'd call Doctor Sleep a great book. It's a B at best, but I'm shocked he wasn't out of his mind when he wrote Misery, because that's among his best
I’m an ex heroin user that plays guitar and nothing I play sober is anywhere near as raw intense or as soulful as when your high it’s just easier to pour all of yourself into something especially in front of people to criticize
The trick is that drugs really do help in everything but as the time flies by dosage is raised but high isn’t that effective anymore plus pleasure is going below zero .. with time u get bucked )) that’s it .. 3-4 years at maximum before fall down
Cause you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years were rrreal fucking high on drugs. : bill hicks
“Get back on coke, get off of Twitter” 😂😅 all in jest of course
Not for donny boi, eh
Edgar Allan Poe was famously a coke user.
Lines like “stay off twitter, get back on coke” are what make Joe hilarious. He’s way funnier off the cuff than in a standup setting
Agreed
The novella is called "Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption" and it's included in Different Seasons
I believe Stand By Me also originated from Different Seasons. The story is called The Body.
We know this
The man that wrote “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” did so while high on opium
L. Frank Baum. Not sure of the opium claim. it could be rumors because of the poppy scene.
Perfect dodge by Joe lol. He knows its problematic as general advice but good advice for King...or at least King fans 😂
Ditto Aaron Sorkin.
King actually liked The Dark Tower movie. That's insane
He's definitely back on cocaine so.

When did they ask him this and what car accident?
@@-01x'99. He told his nurses not to make and Misery jokes.
His writing definitely suffered directly after the accident, but he’s knocked out a few classics in the last two decades.
“No….that’s not a crack house….that’s my creative writing class….”

Everyone has a different process, I’m sure many artists’ would suffer if they were under the influence
No , stay away from drugs
Meanwhile Misery, 11/22/63, and Docter sleep: the sequel to the shining
what do you mean?
@@AnonymousanonymousA they’re amazing Stephen King books written after he got off coke

A lot of music out there is and was the best when they were on drugs I believe it makes the Mind open up too many other things
He didn't write "the Shawdhank redemption" it was called different t seasons then it was changed to the shawshank redemption.
No it wasn't, it was called Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
It's called Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, and was collected in a book called Different Seasons.
Taken from JRE #1904 with Neil deGrasse Tyson

Neil degrasse tyson has never read Carrie
Joe just mad he wasn’t bigger then Stephen King
A lot of artists perform better under the influence of mind.
Alternative enhancement stimulates
Dark implies loving darkness John 3:19
possibly what made stephen king great was hidden meanings in his books/movies not drug related
He must have relapsed when he wrote Revival.
Coke is probably better for you than Twitter rn
Joe Rogan was better when he had hair
Yeah well news radio was 30 years ago 😢
I thought King was on acid....
Bro got exposed 😂
Must’ve never read 11/22/63, Revival or The Outsider
Miniseries was great as well.
Revival is awesome
I truly believe Neil would greatly benefit from LSD. I can’t Imagine the epiphanies he would have.
Yea Rogan may be correct but the early work ofost artists is better
poor uncreative celebrities 😂
Neil is so annoying dude can’t stop speaking for more than 6 seconds
Definitely stay off twitter 😂
We all have potential dont let others tell you and that's it.
Rogan doesn't read books.
joe needs to do the same! shits not inspiring no more
